Note From The Pastor Dr. Glenn E. Robertson, Sr. Pastor
I announced Sunday we are not able to have children’s Sunday School at this time. I have heard that some are disappointed.
Please understand, we are not cancelling Sunday School for children because of the virus. We are having to suspend classes for
that age group because we do not have workers to make it happen. Many of our teachers are of an age that the virus becomes
a major threat to them. If I have younger people who would be willing to take those positions and serve Sunday after Sunday,
we could have classes for the children and have a nursery. At the present, we do not have volunteers to staff the nursery and
classes for the 3-4 grades and 5-6 grades.
It seems that most people got along fine with having separate places for those who wear masks and those who prefer not to
wear masks. We will keep that going for the time being. We are not taking temperatures of people who enter. If on the other
hand, you would like to have someone do this, we have a digital thermometer at the entry way.
I realize that the viral pandemic, plus all of the other things happening in our nation, has put everyone on edge. I do ask that
you make every effort to love one another. People have differences in how they respond to these issues. Our task as followers
of Christ is to imitate His love for everyone. If you are critical of those you disagree with, you will no longer be listening to the
voice of God. Instead, you will find yourself full of judgment and become loveless. Remember, the devil is the accuser of the
brethren. Don’t imitate him.
Our nation needs God! Indeed, we need spiritual revival. I encourage you to find more time for prayer. Pray for your own need
of repentance. If you are in sin in areas of your life, then let the Holy Spirit lead you to change those areas. When you change,
you are repenting. Turn away from the flesh. Turn toward God. This Sunday I will begin a new series called: The Gospel for the
End Times. If our nation does not find the way to repentance and revival, then Christianity in our nation will soon look like it
does in China. Will you be ready for the persecution that is coming? Will you stand with Jesus when the whole world hates
you?
9 "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. (Matt. 24:9-13 NIVO) As it was in the first century, so it will occur again in the final days. Pastor Glenn
Note from Steven:
Pastor of Youth & Family
Unfortunately, Preteen camp has been canceled by Highland Lakes due to Covid. My heart breaks for the students who were looking forward to having this experience, but I know that God will work this for His ultimate good. In an effort to minister to our Preteens, our youth leader and preteen leaders will be having activities throughout the week that Preteen Camp previously occupied. We will have a campfire, Splashway field trip, messy and wet games, and a sleepover in the church. Clowns, games, food, worship, the gospel presentation, and much more will be seen and heard by our preteens over the week. I would appreciate your prayers for each one of students and adults during this time.
This past Sunday, we had 25 students for Sunday evening board game night! I would like to provide our students with a meal each Sunday evening, as this seems to help promote them bringing friends previously unwilling to come. I am asking for volunteers to help me in this ministry to our community. If you are able to help, please contact me at 361-412-1095 or [email protected]. I am looking for individuals or teams to provide a meal and dessert, and to assist in clean up from the 6 to 7 PM hour each Sunday evening. Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve in this manner!
In Christ,
Steven Reece

CORONAVIRUS BLUES
It’s easy to get down because of the coronavirus. I’ve been struggling with it off and on myself. When I am writing
an uplifting, encouraging newsletter column to you, I am writing it for me as well.
One of the things that I appreciated about school was that you knew when it was going to be over. Pass or fail,
you knew once you turned in that final exam, the semester or the year was completed. You got a definite date for clo-
sure. Real life usually isn’t as informative.
Maybe I missed it, but I am pretty sure that we didn’t get a coronavius syllabus earlier in the year. So, we don’t
know what’s on the tests or even when the tests are. We don’t know the ending date. We don’t have a list of re-
sources on how to manage our church, our homes, and our businesses during a pandemic. We have to figure it out
as we go, and coronavirus is unforgiving.
As we struggle with day to day living, let us not lose sight of the big picture. Someday, this thing will end. Then
what? For the Church and for Christians, the big picture is the Gospel and the kingdom of God. May we seek the
Lord, not only for the strength we need today, but also for the vision He has for us. Personally, I frequently get caught
with coping with the crisis of the moment and forget to look up and take in the entire situation.
So, as we deal with the covid circumstances, may we look to the Lord on how to continue to minister. May we
stay close to Him through prayer, Bible study, and worship. And, keep praying for that vaccine!
