In Christ,

Pastor Ron Jones

Dear Church Family,

As the temperature continues to cool down I hope that your passion for making Christ known in our city

hasn’t cooled down. Remember our theme this year is Evangelism. We want to give people the opportunity to

say “yes” to Jesus. We currently have four evangelism challenges that I have given you.

1. Pray for 5 people that don’t know Christ. Pray they will place their faith in Jesus this year.

2. Invite one person per week to church.

3. We need three more volunteers to help pick up college students on Sunday morning for the worship

service. If you would like to volunteer you can talk to me or Floyd.

4. Attend the next evangelism training which is will be Sunday, February 24th at 9:45am in the Social

Hall (All the adult and youth Sunday School classes will be meeting together).

I believe there are several people in our community wanting to know God. It’s exciting to think that God could

use you and me as the way someone comes to know Him! It’s exciting to think that God could use you and me

as the way someone comes and worships with our church! I believe God wants to work through us in these ways

but we must be wiling to take steps of faith and reach out to those around us! Let’s step out in faith this month

and trust God with the results!

Please Bring

A pot of Soup,

Sandwiches, or

Dessert

For the last few weeks Ron has preached out of Joshua, and

one thing that I have heard God saying to me over is that “it

is important to prepare”…to be prepared to do whatever He

calls us to do. It leaves me with questions like “Am I Pre-

pared? Are our Youth prepared? What more should I be do-

ing?” As we look at being prepared, we can look at Joshua 1

where God tells Joshua to meditate on the Revelations that

were revealed to Moses. So are we meditating on God’s

writings enough? I look forward to concentrating on digging

deeper into God’s writings in 2019 so that we can be pre-

pared and ready for anything He call us to do! On Wednes-

day nights we are continuing through Mark…we made it to

Chapter 12! Soon we will finish by having a friendly team

competition of “Trash Ball” to test what we have learned

about Jesus through Mark’s writings. Then on Sunday morn-

ings we have been studying Jacob and his sons that become

the tribes of Israel. I can’t wait to see what God is preparing

our Youth for!

And 2019 is off with a blast! There are several exciting ac-

tivities coming up soon for the Youth of The Hill Baptist…

so please join us!

February 22nd and 23rd - DNOW Weekend at West Acres

Baptist.

March 16th – Youth Day including service project at Broad

Street Ministries, Putt-Putt Fun Zone, and a ‘til midnight lock

-in!

June 17th -21st – Student Life Beach Adventure at

Myrtle Beach!!

These activities are all in addition to our regular Wednesday

night Youth time and Sunday School. Please join us as we

continue to learn more about loving God and others!

Many Blessings!

Different Faces of Love

Musically love is crafted through words

and memorable melodies. Remember when

you "fell" in love and had that special song

that always reminds you of a special person and time? What

has become of that special person and those wonderful lov-

ing memories? Some might say that that "loving feeling"

has grown and matured. Others might say the emotions have

calmed but the love has matured beyond emotions. There

are no predictable answers about how love has progressed

between two persons.

Scripture tells us that "the greatest of 'these' is love" and

that "perfect love casts out all fears". We are also admon-

ished to "love our neighbor as ourselves". Would you identi-

fy your love for others as you would your love for Je-

sus? Jesus asked Peter several times about his love for

him. Each time Peter responded positively. Each time Jesus

responded, "feed my sheep/lambs". My interpretation of this

interchange is an understanding of true love for Jesus is to

measure and test my love for others through service to honor

Him.

Everyday we have the opportunities to truly love others

through simple tasks. A smile when meeting others. An

encouraging word to someone older or younger. You can

empathize from experience and offer a heartfelt message that

will let them know you care. Think about the many opportu-

nities you have in the everyday happenings you experience.

As we worship each Sunday, sing with love for God's

honor. Take those hymns and spiritual songs along for the

week ahead and share the message or even the song with

others. Love comes in many forms and we have to be ready

to let that love out by simply being the person Jesus created

us to be. Jesus loved us enough to die and rise again for

us. Jesus also gave us instructions on how to live and love in

the scriptures of our Holy Bible.

This month, especially, we should and can read about

God's love and then share those instructions with oth-

ers. The love of God will sing through our lives and our ac-

tions. Just remember, I love you and God loves you much

more!
