PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Spring is finally upon us. And I hear that there may be snow flurries this weekend. I guess we know what that means . . .
Mother’s Day and Memorial Day are right around the corner.
Belinda Evans’ Confetti workshop was great fun, and a real success. WhooHoo! I actually completed the project I took, at least the design portion. Quilting is all that remains. That rarely happens.
Guest speakers are coming each of the next 3 months and they are going to be great. Their workshops are a perfect time to learn new techniques. All the while having a good time with friends. Hope you plan to attend.
FYI…Next to the Membership Sign-in table, and below Mary Johnson’s picture is a short table which has a small bulletin board on it. Each month the table, also has on it, flyers of a variety of sorts. Some are for upcoming quilt shows, some for other quilt related activities. If something interests you, feel free to take one of the flyers. From time to time we receive only 1.
Happy Quilting - B~ Bonnie Snell, President
April Dinner before the Meeting
The dinner this month will be at Senora Cantina located at 41144 Big Bear Blvd in Big Bear Lake. They have a great menu and we can enjoy a belated Cinco de Mayo! I hope you'll join me! See you there! Laurie Nahay 909 754 0186

Busy Bears Quilt Guild Program Update for May
We have been having fun in our workshops this year, and Belinda Evans’ Confetti Nature Scape was no
exception. I can’t wait to see the finished results of my classmates.
We appreciate learning yet another way in which we can play and be creative with fabric, thank you Belinda.
Our guest speaker this month is Sue Bouchard. Her lecture Monday night will introduce us to Modern Quilts and on Tuesday morning she will present a workshop based on Moon Dance, a quilt pattern she designed for Quilt in a Day.
The standard workshop fee is $20 for members and $35 for guests. Please plan on bringing a sack lunch, coffee and water will be provided.
Nancy Ota is coming in June. She will share her Quilting Journey with a trunk show. Nancy will teach us Sashiko stitching techniques in her workshop and has promised to show us many samples of traditional Japanese textiles as well. She has a basic kit available for five dollars, with everything we need for the
class.
Looking ahead to July ~ Sylvia Davis will be here to entertain us with her “Quirky Quilter’s Alphabet” presen-tation, with a variety of quilts and numerous quilting tips. We will have a chance to learn her way of doing a Stained Glass Wall Hanging in the workshop the following day.
I encourage you to take advantage of our workshops. They offer a variety techniques to enhance your quilt-ing skills and give you an opportunity to engage with fellow quilters.

INLAND EMPIRE MODERN QUILT GUILD
Our guild is hosting one of the founding quilters from the Modern Quilt Guild in LA. We’d love for you to join us. Latifah loves using oversized traditional patterns, like the clam shell and will share 40 or so quilts. She also has a refreshing way of using rectangles and/or curved piecing.
Our Inland Empire Modern Quilt Guild meets on the first Saturday of every month from 2-4 pm at the Grand Terrace Civic Center in the Community Building. The address is 22795 Barton Rd, Grand Terrace, CA 92313. We are asking for $5 admission fee, since we are a new guild that has no coffers. We will be holding raffles and a donation table for purchases as well. Our regular members will be sharing their quarterly chal-lenge quilt, “Words.” You are welcome to share a quilt with word fabric or design.
Let me know if you have any questions. I’ve been a quilter for over 20 years, but have recently joined the modern movement to increase my skills. I’d love for you to join us. A yearly membership is $40 and includes membership to the national Modern Quilt Guild. Laura Greene, President 760-684-9788
