Rationale

Even if they serve the community as a whole, housing providers’ efforts to boost employment and tackle unemployment should flow from the composition, needs and activities of workless residents, in order to have the greatest impact and add the most value

What the tool does

Sets out the ‘breakdown’ of worklessness among a housing providers’ residents

Compares to the local area, the country and social-housing residents nationally

Shows what mainstream provision individuals are eligible for, and upcoming policy changes that may affect them

Plans for development Develop standard worklessness datasets / questions to

ask residents Increase resolution to ward and LSOA level Add GIS/mapping outputs Include contact info for local provision (WP primes, JCP) Develop a ‘prioritisation’ filter that shows the major

gaps for your residents Track progress over time Compare your own worklessness ‘breakdown’ to

others’, in order to share knowledge and develop solutions in partnership
