BRIGHTON RESIDENCE COMMUNAL KITCHEN
In my experience it can sometimes be very hard to motivate teenagers to do their school work. Since my son Paul has been at Bellerbys he has been working 8-10 hours a day and has been having fun doing it. That’s incredible. This is all attributed to the fantastic teachers and staff at Bellerbys and an environment which encourages students to help each other. It’s amazing to see such a change in attitude.

HOMESTAY
Host Family selectionOur homestays are local people who have free space in their homes and want to help international students sett le into UK life. Your host will help you gain a deeper understanding of living in the UK, whilst you teach them more about your own culture.
We complete a secure background check on all of our hosts, which includes:· A DBS check (criminal record check) for every member of the
household over the age of 16· Interview with host parents· Home visit to assess the quality of the accommodation and
student bedroom· Character references· Proof of safety compliance with documents such as gas
certifi cates.
Ongoing checking procedureOnce a year, our hosts are visited by an Accommodation Offi cer to ensure the college standards are maintained. All hosts must complete a Child Protection training course, as well as show an understanding of our policies on keeping students safe. In addition to this, our hosts will att end training sessions with our Director of Student Services once a year.
Most of our homestays are located less than 30 minutes’ walk from the colleges, or a short bus journey away. Your host may be a home with children, a single person or a home with other students.
