News from the Photography Group

On Wednesday 10th of March the Photography Group went to Taronga Zoo. We left school at a quarter past eight to catch the train to the city. The train was really busy with all the workers and we had to squash in. Once we got into the city we changed trains for Circular Quay where we then caught the ferry to go to the zoo. Miss Yard got a bit scared and we all had to sit outside. We sailed past the Opera House and even saw people climbing the Harbour Bridge. Once at the zoo we caught the Sky Safari up to the top entrance. (Everybody liked this except Jacob who thought walking would have been a better idea). We got to pat a snake as soon as we walked into the zoo. The animals that we saw included koalas, reptiles, giraffes, tigers, lions, leopards, tortoises, elephants and seals. One of the favourites was the Bird Show where a bird took a $1.00 coin from a kid’s hand from the audience and gave it to the zoo keeper. After a great day we caught the ferry and train back to school.

We would like to thank Mrs L King and Miss Yard for coming with us and also thanks to Mrs Bennett, Mrs Johal and Miss Tang for driving us to and from the station.

AFL On Saturday 6th of March 23 students from grades three to six were invited to participate in an AFL game at the home ground of the new GWS AFL team. The students played a half time game at the practise match between Sydney Swans and Essendon Bombers. To begin the afternoon the students were involved in an AFL clinic which included meeting the players, learning AFL skills, face painting, tattoos and much more. We were able to watch a bit of the game before going to the change room to get ready for our game. Both Junior and Senior teams played extremely well and with great sportsmanship. All students who participated in the evening showed great respect and made us all proud.

A big thank you to Kate Fleming who gave up her Saturday night to help the students and another big thanks

to all the parents who helped transport all the students to the game.
