June 18-21: Rockford Springs Community Church would like to invite kids ages 4 through 5th grade to join us for discovering Jesus from eternity past to eternity future, June 18-21, from 9 a.m. until noon. Imagine traveling through time and meeting the most important man ever—a man who was not just a man, but also God. One who turned the world upside-down. One who existed outside of time. We’ll do just that as we embark on Time Lab. We’ll use words beginning with “C” to help us remem-ber that Jesus, our forever faithful, loving, caring, promise-keeping Lord, has been with us always. The Cedar Springs Historical Society will hold their annual car show on Saturday, July 28, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Morley Park, on Cedar St. in Cedar Springs. The show will feature cars, trucks, motorcycles, and special guests the Cedar Springs Fire Department, and DJ JoJo Girard from radio station WFGR 98.7 will be on site playing those golden oldies for all to enjoy. Maranatha Baptist Church will serve donuts in the morning, and a free hot dog lunch. There will be trophies and priz-es, and dash plaques to the first 100 cars. Jeep invasion returns to Silver Lake sand dunes

The Silver Lake Sand Dunes Jeep Invasion returns to Mears, MI June 1-3, 2018 with an action-packed off-road weekend for families and Jeep fans. This year, over 1,000 Jeeps from all over the country will descend upon Lake Michigan’s sand dunes for the trail rides, Jeep parade, social events, exhibitor midway and dune action that Jeep Invasion is known for. Just two years ago, a group of local off-road enthusiasts started the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Jeep Invasion out of a passion for all things Jeep. The event grew rapidly, and this year Bonnier Events will manage and produce Jeep Inva-sion. Bonnier Events produces leading off-road enthusiast events, including the Off-Road Expo series, 4-Wheel Jam-boree Nationals series and the Sand Sports Super Show.  “We’ve partnered with Bonnier Events this year to really take Jeep Invasion to the next level,” said Alicia Kolenda, Silver Lake Jeep Invasion Board Secretary. “Fans can expect to see a height-ened event experience with national off-road exhibitors and sponsors, jumbotrons, goody bag upgrades and an interactive Jeep driving course.  Bonnier has also brought an enhanced registration process for fans and a national marketing foot-print that will draw over 1,000 Jeeps from all over the country.” 

Show Features Include: Friday night social at the Golden Sand Golf & Bucket Bar; RIGID Friday Night Poker Run & Trail Ride; Jeep Parade; Show-N- Shine Competition—over 1,000 Jeeps on display with pro-judged awards; RC4WD Adventure Course; Fri-day & Saturday Exhibitor midway; All you can eat event with pair-ings from Michigan’s own Craft Brewery Founders; Jeep Demo Track; Kids activities and Grand Fireworks Saturday Nigh Extrav-aganza; Sunday “Blessing of the Duners.”The Silver Lake Sand Dunes Jeep Invasion takes place June 1-3, 2018 at the Golden Sand Golf Course at 2501 Wilson Rd. Mears, MI 49436, and the Silver Lake Sand Dunes ORV Area at 8890 W. Shore Drive Mears, MI, 49436.  Show hours are Friday, June 1, 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.; Satur-day, June 2, 8:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 3, at Noon. Participants can pre-register Jeeps at  www.slsdjeep-invasion.com  for $25, along with the opportunity to purchase the exclusive participant t-shirt.  On-site registration will be $25 on-site beginning Thursday, May 31st at 2 p.m. Jeep registra-tion includes weekend vehicle entry into Jeep Invasion events and one event swag bag plus two meal tickets for Friday night’s light dinner. Spectators are free. Parking is $10 per carload.  

Free fishing weekend

Next month families and friends can enjoy one of Michigan’s premiere outdoor activities, Michigan Fishing, for free!The 2018  Free Fishing Summer Weekend is scheduled for June 9 and 10.All fishing license fees will be waived for two days. A  Recreation Pass-port will NOT be required for entry into state parks and recreation areas during Free Fishing Weekend. Resi-dents and out-of-state visitors may enjoy fishing on both inland and Great Lakes› waters for all species of fish. All fishing regulations will still apply.During the Summer Free Fishing Weekend it is also Free ORV Week-end!Many locations around the state hold fun events during the week-end.
