The Bradley Report by Grace Desnoyers For two years, we have been updating you on the status of my 28 year-old nephew, Bradley Dycus, who has now been battling cancer for two years. We were encouraged by a couple of clean scans and he was scheduled to start a clinical trial at Sloan Kettering in May. However, in preparation for the trial, a scan revealed three golf ball size tumors on his trachea. Two were removed; the third was too close to major blood vessels. He was immediately started on chemo (although he had been told that he had received the maximum amount) and it is hoped that it will reduce the balance of the disease to a manageable level and can be followed by the clinical trial. His dad requests that we “please pray for him as never before. Please also remember Marissa (his wife) and all of our families. The stress that everyone is under is tremendous, but Bradley will never give up the fight and Marissa and his families will never stop praying for this miracle to be complete. God is and always will be the Great Physician and we still believe that He has yet a plan for Bradley here on this earth.”

What it does

• IncreasesstrengthWith improved airflow and less stress from clenching, UA Performance Mouthwear has been proven to increase strength by an average of 17 percent with their standard mouthpiece and 12 percent with their full mouth guard.

• IncreasesenduranceThe specialized mouthwear enlarges airway openings, resulting in 25 percent less lactic acid build up after 30 minutes of intense exercise.

• SpeedsupreactiontimeAthletes may respond faster when wearing the mouth wear. Clinical trials show an improvement in responding to auditory cues and potential improvement in response to visual cues.

• ReducesathleticstressExcess cortisol causes stress, fatigue and distraction. The mouthwear decreases cortisol production, which means you feel and play better.

• ReducesimpactWhen the jaw suffers an impact, energy can be transmitted to the head, which can cause a concussion. Wearing a full mouthguard has been shown to reduce the g-force impact of blows to the jaw by up to 20 percent.

Howitworks

You are “hard-wired” to clench your jaw. When you train and compete, your natural reaction is to clench your jaw. It’s part of the “fight or flight” wiring of your brain. Your clenched jaw and teeth compress your temporomandibular joint (TMJ), triggering the release of excess amounts of performance-sapping hormones (like cortisol) that produce stress, fatigue and distraction. UA Performance Mouthwear helps the human body help itself by unlocking the power of the jaw. Patented technology prevents your teeth from clenching and pivots your jaw forward to relieve pres-sure on the TMJ. Gone are the excess negative hormones and the energy-draining effects, so the body can now unleash its full poten-tial. It also opens your airway, increasing your oxygenation, while protecting and stabilizing the teeth themselves.

Howtogetone

Getting your own Under Armour Performance Mouthwear is a simple three-step process. First, our office will take your bite im-pressions. Next, we will send the impressions to our laboratory to have the mouthpiece custom-made to precisely fit your jaw. Third, the completed mouthpiece is shipped back to our office for a final fitting.

From professional football players to runners to yoga moms, un-locking your body’s natural potential can help you train harder and compete at a higher level than ever before. For more informa-tion or to have your own custom mouthpiece fabricated, please contact us at Premier Dental Center.
