In celebration of the centennial of the formal garden, artists were invited to paint the gardens “en plein air.” Paintings created outdoors capture the changing light and atmospheric mood of the historical landmarks and hidden treasures of the Bartow-Pell gardens and grounds. JULY 20 HILLIARD GREENE & THE JAZZ EXPRESSIONS Appearing for the second consecutive year on a Sunset Wednesday is Bronx-based, upright bass player and composer Hilliard Greene with his powerhouse quar-tet, The Jazz Expressions.

JULY 27 DUO JALAL Racing along with our new global society, Duo Jalal surprises the music world with its diverse and stunning artistry.

AUGUST 3 LIBBY RICHMAN QUARTET Based in the Bronx, saxophonist Libby Richman leads Libby & Co., an ensemble that plays original contemporary jazz. The concert includes the pop tunes “Happy” (Pharrell Williams) and “Sunny” (Bobby Hebb), and the

musical theater classic, “Tonight”, from West Side Story.

AUGUST 10 BRONX SALSA FEST! Orquesta SCC is an NYC-based, 11-member, all male contemporary salsa big band led by Jose Vazquez-Cofresi and Edwin Perez. SCC stands for Salsa Con Conciencia, and the band’s mission is to make music that benefits society. This event will be part of the Bronx Salsa Fest celebration.

SUNSET WEDNESDAYS OUTDOOR MUSIC

Enjoy seven outdoor concerts—FREE with admission to the grounds—enliven Sunset Wednesdays, with the last on Bronx Salsa Fest! Vibrant New York City musicians bring a pop sensibility to their performances on Wave Hill's Great Lawn. Sunset Wednesday con-certs this summer are pop-infused, in a nod to Nature Pops!, the summer exhibition in the Glyndor Gallery. Visitors may bring a chair, or purchase supper from The Cafe at Wave Hill, and picnic during each performance. WHERE? The Great Lawn at Wave Hill, west 249th and Independence Avenue from 7pm – 8pm.
