So we've received another trick from the weather gods...snow on the daffodils just makes me admire their bloomingdetermination even more than usual.

Plenty of reading/writing events during Poetry Month. Hope you can participate.We've been busy preparing forthcoming publications: The Leaf #26, TEACHER issue and Mike Pickup's secondbook, Birding Saugeen Shores [including MacGregor Point Provincial Park]. June 8 already! Can you tell I've spent more time in the garden than at the computer? [happily]Congratulations first to three authors: Mike Pickup, whose new book, Birding Saugeen Shores, we launchedsuccessfully at the Huron Fringe Birding Festival. Sent a cheque last week to Friends of MacGregor Point ProvincialPark for their share of the proceeds. The Friends continue to sell the book [and others from Brucedale] in the HuronFringe Shop at the Park.Second successful author, Mabel Brown Williamson, will launch her own book, Barn Stories, a social history basedon the Brown family farm in Grey County, with a barn dance...in the very barn that stars in the book. Mabel is a'graduate' of the I've Written a Book...now what? workshop. Way to go, Mabel!And third, tho actually first, Alexandra McLaughlin, daughter of Carla [BLOC] and Bill, has won first prize in thewrite@your library contest for teen authors. The awards ceremony takes place at the Library in Owen Sound onMonday, June 14. The big news at The Brucedale Press is our move. I'm happy to say thephysical moving of the books and furniture iscomplete...the organizingcontinues.

So, when you come to Port Elgin to visit our sales office, attend RoundTables or Workshops, you'll find us at 682Goderich Street [two doors south of our previous spot]All contact info remains the same.Hours remain 1-5 p.m. Tues, Wed, Thurs, or by chance.

The Brucedale Press is sharing 682 with Saugeen Sustainability Volunteerand Resource Centre, a non-profitorganization. Their hours are flexible.Both Victoria Serda, the founder, and I see this as a good model forco-operative use of space and resources.

later in SeptemberTWO new books coming...Into the Wilderness: a temple at Sharon is a mini-chapbook of Jennifer Frankum's evocative poetry inspired by theTemple of the Children of Peaceat Sharon, Ontario. Jennifer will be a featured reader for the annual Words AliveLiterary Festival, Saturday, September 18.Aggie's Dream: Agnes Macphail in High School is Donna Mann's second book recreating the younger years ofCanada's first woman Member of Parliament. Agnes attended Owen Sound Collegiate Institute [now OSCVI] from1906 to 1908, but little has been written about those years. Until now...Donna captures the feelings Agnesexperienced leaving her country home to boarding town, making new friends, discovering the joys and passions ofdebating. Plans are in the works to launch this book at OSCVI. Watch for more details.
