President’s Report

Hello members, It is with regret that we have said goodbye to Bob Bolch and Tony from the committee over the past month. Bob has huge commitments with his job and has been a great help whilst on the committee and we will with regret say thanks and goodbye for now. Tony has had health issues and major surgery and at this time is unable to for fill his position on the committee so again we must say thank you hopefully we will see you well again and a part of the team when your health allows you. Thank for your input and assistance with the club. On the 5th Oct we had a member’s comp and the bully / staffy match and I must say I was disappointed with the turnout of bullys for these two events. Out of the dogs that attended and without the committee were only 2 that were not owned or bred by them. We run these events for the members to bring out their dogs and have a relaxed day out, earn some money for the club and encourage new members into the show scene in a supported atmosphere. During the next few months the committee will be reviewing the members comp/fun days held by the club and where we go with this in 2015. Without the support of the members it is not worth running these events. Most of the money made on the day was due to the donations of the committee and the entry fees from the committee, not a good scenario for the future of these events. The committee donates so much at the major shows and this is ongoing without the rest of the expense incurred not only to the person but their family. And yes I can hear people saying we did that, well haven’t we all but we still need to keep in mind it’s not about us but the breed and keeping our club going strong…. We do not have many events left till the end of the year our Specialty and Championship Shows in Nov and then the Open Show later in the year and the Trophy Show next year which we have waited 12 years to hold. We are busy trying to get sponsorship for the November shows and if you can afford to sponsor a class trophy and/or sash please let us know we need to make all the money we can so we have a great trophy show next year. Keep in mind that the weather is warming up and its snake season so keep that grass down and make sure your four legged friends have plenty of water on those warm days. Hope to see you all around the traps Alison Sutcliffe President

Secretary’s Report

Hi All,

The committee has been very active of late giving a few Bull Terrier Club things a necessary update or revamp. In particular our Promo Trailer, and membership form (the new form has been published at the back.

The club would like to re-introduce the breeder/stud/puppy listing so this has been included on our new form. If you would like to participate in this, the fee is $25 yearly. It means we will refer puppy enquiries to you and your kennel/stud details will be placed on our website. The fee will cover you for one financial year (ending 30th June as do memberships). This will hopefully address our current inability to give breeder names out to puppy enquiries, some of whom get quite frustrated as they would like to go through club members.

We are planning our upcoming November show. We are still looking for accommodation arrangements for our judges Moira and Jamie so if anyone of our members or friends would like to billet a judge, please give me a call 0403210590 for more details. This saves the club money on paying for accommodation and is a nice way you can help the club if you don’t get an opportunity to contribute in other ways.

That said, if anyone is out there in their day to day duties and comes across a great deal or sponsorship opportunity, please let us know. Neil and Tony have been very successful at getting us sponsorship this year but are always hunting for new leads.

There are still plenty of sash spots open for November, and please don’t forget to return your raffle tickets if you have some. We want all unsold tickets back asap so we have a chance to sell them before the show. Please return tickets (sold and unsold) and money to the Melton PO Box address.

See you at our upcoming events, the Halloween Bully walk, the November show and the December Big Dogs Day Out!

Cheers

Deb Patterson Secretary BTCV

Show Secretary’s Report

First of all thank you to the very few non-committee members who made the effort to attend our latest Members Comp. The overall attendance was very disappointing; needless to say we lost the "Dunny Seat" to the Staffys who greatly outnumbered us. The Staffy Club also held a handler’s class and lure chasing for both clubs; the dogs seemed to have great fun with the latter activity. It was a pity that we didn’t have more dogs for our judge Julie Keenan to go over but she enjoyed the day nevertheless. The next Members Comp/ Fun Day have yet to be decided. If any of you have any opinions as to why you are not attending these functions i.e. venue, format or time, let us know, we may be able to change one or two things. In the meantime get your entries in for the upcoming Champ & Open Shows and support YOUR club. Regards, David Hirst Show Manager/Show Secretary Bull Terrier Club of Victoria

Item Discussion 1

Urgent Business CHANGE OF VENUE LOCATION FOR MAY 2015 TROPHY SHOW The BTCV is proposing to move the Bull Terrier Trophy Show and Championship Show for May 2015 to a different location. The proposed venue will be able to cater for all the needs of the shows, including exhibitors, spectators and supporters. The venue can include accommodation and meals and will eliminate the need for sourcing dog friendly accommodation and travelling.

9

In order to hold the booking a deposit will be required in excess of $1000.00

Motion 1 – moved by Sharelle Humphrey “That The Bull Terrier Club of Victoria Change the Venue for the 2015 Champ & Specialty shows being held 2nd & 3rd of May 2015 to Campaspe Downs Kyneton.” Seconded by Ruth Eyres. Discussion held regarding venue, and questions taken from members. Distance from Melbourne is 87 kms, a VCA rep will travel there as they attend dog shows all over the state, the committee are working on a kid’s concession and the venue does provide children’s activities. There will be a slight mark up on accommodation to help cover costs including heating, carpet, and the club will not lose money on unfilled beds. Liquor is allowed and the venue are extremely accommodating to our needs. The committee want this weekend to be an all-inclusive weekend for exhibitors where everything is provided, dog food, meals, bedding, entertainment etc A vote is put to members: For: 20, Against: 2, Abstain: 1 MOTION CARRIED Motion 2 - Moved by Sharelle Humphrey “That the Bull Terrier Club of Victoria pay a deposit of $2000.00 for the Campaspe Downs venue” Explanation of deposit requirement that it covers a $27 deposit per head, deposit is not forfeit if beds are not filled; it goes towards covering the entire cost. People wishing to stay must pay a $50 deposit by end of August to secure a bed. A vote is put to members: For: 20, Against: 2, Abstain: 1 MOTION CARRIED
