I presented the results to the P&C at the last meeting. In light of the fact that only one-third of those surveyed were dissatisfied with our current school hours, they will remain the same. Of those that were not satisfied, the majority wanted the hours changed to 9am – 3pm. This will have a major impact on the traffic in the area due to the hours of neighbouring schools. Blakehurst Public School is, however, changing the internal hours in 2019. Our new times are as follows: 9:25-11:15 Morning session 11:15-11:25 Supervised eating period 11:25-12:05 Lunch break 12:05-2:05 Mid session 2:05-2:25 Recess 2:25-3:25 Afternoon session This change has been made to ensure our students stay focused and energised for the entire day. It will also allow students to have a break when they return from PSSA on Fridays. As stated in our previous newsletter, we will be having a combined K-6 Presentation Ceremony on Monday 17 th December at 9:45-11:25. Parents are welcome to stay for recess and sample some of our Blakehurst Bites delicacies. Please note, students are expected to remain at school after the ceremony as it is a normal school day. Sport Results Friday 23 November 2018

Winners

Congratulations to all our PSSA teams on a great season. Our Senior Boys Cricket Team was undefeated all season and has taken the honours of being Senior Boys Cricket Champions. Well done also to the teams for playing well each week and for being great representatives for our school. Thank you to Ms Hamer and Mrs Constantinou for their commitment each week.

Enrichment Program T4 - Goodbye Mrs Fraser

The stage 1 geography group completed their research on an important landmark in NSW. They then typed their sentences and printed appropriate images.

The next stage 1 group focused on Science. They investigated forces such as air, buoyancy and magnetism by making predications and then testing the forces. Boats were made from a variety of materials. What excitement when they floated!

Animation using “Stop Motion: ans “Scratch” was the task of Stage 2. The steps included drawing a storey board, constructing the setting and characters and finally filming with an ipad. Sone experts demonstarted how to create with “Scratch”. The results were great! Art as an enrichment subject was introduced to Stage 3 for the first time. Besides being instructed in various techniques the students then chose the styule and media for their final artwork. These could be proudly displayed in an art gallery.

I would like to take this opportunity to say fareweel to Blakehurst Public School as time has come for me to retire. The last four years have been a wonderful experience with the enthusiasm of the enrichment groups! The program will continue in 2019 and I wish you all the best.

Volunteer Thank you Morning Tea

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers for their contributions that they have made to our students and school here at BPS. Our school is very fortunate to have the support of many parents, family members and community groups who contribute their time for the benefit of our students. The scripture and Ethics teachers have given their time weekly for their religious and Ethics education and so have our parent/carer volunteers for all their help with our students from reading, to our school with fundraising, organising to maintaining our school gardens etc. On Wednesday 5 December 11.15am to 11.45am in the school library, we will be hosting a morning tea for all volunteers to attend in thanks for their contribution to our school in 2018. If you have received an invitation, please return the slip back to school ASAP. We look forward to thanking you and showing our appreciation for all your efforts.
