BDEC conceived in 2003 Aston signed up in 2008 Aston University Energy Centre = 3 MW system 100% of our district heating system Generates approx. 60% of our electricity Remaining 40% imported from an energy supplier Large Carbon savings circa 25% 2005/06 base year

Responsibilities – Cofely District Energy

Provided capital funding of the scheme Purchase the gas and remaining electricity on Aston’s behalf with a 5% saving compared to Whole Life Cycle costing's of conventional solution Maintain CHP, boiler and plant Seek to deliver further CO2 savings by expanding scheme and incorporate low and zero carbon technologies
