Welcome to this performance of Judge Jackie Justice in the Cabaret at Theater Square.

Dear Friends,

I am delighted that you’ve joined us for Judge Jackie Justice - A New Musical Comedy. Pittsburgh CLO has a rich history of nurturing talented artists to the stage, including writers, and today’s show welcomes to the family two more: Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond, a musical theater-writing team originally from our area but who now call the Big Apple home. (The ‘Burgh Apple?)

The debut of Judge Jackie Justice at the CLO Cabaret follows a year’s worth of table readings, plus workshops at the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut and Running Deer Musical Theatre Lab in Washington State. Once on the page, our musical needed an A-team to get off the ground, and we had precisely that in our terrific actors and crew, musical director, stage manager, designers, administrative staff and interns. I also want to thank our Board of Directors and donors for supporting this project and partaking in a presentation of Judge Jackie Justice this past October.

We are similarly fortunate that our Board and donors supported us this year in commissioning a new musical titled The Invention of Edison for our Gallery of Heroes program, a series of mini-musicals designed to galvanize young people around important, Pittsburgh-centric figures who’ve made an impact on our nation’s history. (They also galvanize our organization around the importance of the arts in school curricula.) These productions tour area schools and star our finest local actors, many who have attended the CLO Academy for students ages 3-18, which is located right here in the Cultural District. Encouraging a love for the arts in young people will ensure the ongoing cultural prosperity of Pittsburgh, so if you’d like to know more about The Invention of Edison or if you know someone you think would benefit from acting, singing or dancing classes, please visit pittsburghCLO.org. Our CLO Academy classes are wonderfully character building for any child, no matter where life takes them.

Thank you for being here. Big musical or small, grown up or kiddo, when you walk through our doors it is our genuine desire to entertain you beyond what you expected. In the relaxed environment of the cabaret, we also hope to make you laugh.

Enjoy the show!
