February 23rd over 200 brothers

Founders Day! With the
cooperation of Ray Garra and
the Desert Alumni Association,
the brothers of California Nu
and their dates enjoyed a night
of revelry and remembrance.
Brothers from Cal Nu enjoyed
the luxury of brotherhood at

those who attended. All were
very fortunate to have Paul
Wineman as the keynote
speaker. Alumni Relations Chair
Seth Lake organized the event
and presented awards to Ryan

Akre, Austin Claiborne, Justin
Chu Lee, Alex Lima, Matt
Loveland and Trelynd Bowles.
Paul Wineman served as the
main orator for the event and
emulated the importance of
mentoring in Phi Kappa Psi. In
doing so he requested that each
brother pin their pin on
someone they wanted to be
their mentor. The proceeding
scene created an atmosphere of
pure brotherhood as brothers
sought out their future mentors
to guide them through all walks
of life. To conclude the evening
brothers embraced one another,
arm and arm, to collectively sing
Amici together. This all
resounded in an amicable and
most successful Founders Day
for Phi Kappa Psi and Cal Nu.

Chapter Report
Brothers,
As the spring quarter has come to a successful close, the upcoming fall quarter brings ina new set of goals and achievements to strive for. But before we can glance ahead, we must
reflect on our several accomplishments and highlight a few of the brothers who have succeeded
in their endeavors of the previous quarter. This past winter quarter we held our first Founders
Day Banquet in Indian Wells, California. There were over 30 Phi Psi Alumni from the Palm
Springs and Riverside area. The chapter also welcomed the Alpha Lambda pledge class of 19
members. Various social events, such as sorority exchanges, the Phi Psi Date Auction, and our
annual Toga party went off without a hitch. From a philanthropic effort, we partnered up with
the ladies of Alpha Chi Omega in the Boys and Girls Club of Americas Jr. Olympics. What I am
most proud of what Cal Nu has done in the past quarter is earning a 2.9 cumulative GPA, the
highest Grade Point Average of all mens Fraternities on IFC.
This spring quarter commenced with the safe return of the eight brothers who left toCabo San Lucas, Mexico for the American Leadership Academy. As the end of the quarter sets
in motion, so does our recruitment for the upcoming calendar year. We will continue to select
the best undergraduates Riverside has to offer as we have done so the past few years. I am
looking forward to another eventful and flourishing quarter, and again would like to extend an
invitation to all alumni to contact me regarding any thoughts or concerns you have.

Expansions to theJerry Nelson Study
Room
This quarter the brothers of California Nu
received a generous donation of $3000
from Brother Jerry Nelson of California
Epsilon, UCLA. We have used all the
money that was donated to allocate more
renovations for the Jerry Nelson Study
Room and the Cal Nu Office. The Jerry
Nelson Study Room received new flooring
and is due to receive improved insulation
as well as bookshelves to help store study
materials such as textbooks and notes for
former classes.
CALIFORNIA NU HAS NOW
BECOME THE FRATERNITY
WITH THE HIGHEST GPA ON
CAMPUS FOR THE LAST
QUARTER
The Cal Nu Office
The donation has also played a large role
in establishing California Nus first office.
This office will offer an outlet for chairs
and committees to store information
related to their subsequent positions. This
will also offer an avenue for Housing Corp
and California Nu to store historical items
that preserve the history of California Nu.
Furthering Academics at Cal Nu
With the additions that are now
formatting the completion of the Jerry
Nelson Study Room, the brothers of
California Nu look forward to establishing
methods that further their academic
endeavors at UC Riverside. This includes a
textbook loan program, mandatory Study
Room hours, commercial grade WIFI,
printers that offer brothers printing year-
round and a mentoring program that
connects brothers within the same
college/major. This will only work
furthermore to raise Cal Nus GPA.

This last Spring Quarter marked
the crossing of the Alpha LambdaClass. One brother, Matthew RyanReed Vinales had the luxury ofenjoying a particular specialcrossing. Upon being initiated,Matthew Reed was immediatelycongratulated by his Father, RayReed. Ray Reed was the formerpresident of California Eta, the
