The Call of the Ancestor of Faith
• The Call of Abram• 12 The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your
people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
• 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you;I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse;and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.
• Joshua 24:2• Joshua said to all the people, "This is what the LORD, the God
of Israel, says: 'Long ago your ancestors, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods.
• Genesis 12:• 4 So Abram went, as the LORD had told him; and Lot
went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.
• Hebrews 11:8• By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place
he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
• Galatians 3• 6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited
to him as righteousness.”[Gen.17:5]
• 7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.
• Matthew 3:9• And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have
Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
• Matthew 4:• Jesus Calls His First Disciples• 18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two
brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.
• 21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
