Ministry NewsC.O.M.E. - Calvary On Mission EverydaySouthern Community Fellowshp (SCF) Celebrates 7th Anniversity This coming Sunday will be a great celebration. SCF will be seven years old. What began as a “cowboy” church has now evolved into a place where the needs of the entire community are beingmet.ThefirstservicewasintheheadquartersbuildingatSouthernCattleCompany.Thechurch grew until it was out of space. During this time the worship service began to take on a more contemporary style. A new building was added. As time passed, changes occurred. The pastorlefttopursuewhathefeltwasGod’sword.SeveralmonthsagoGaryMartinbecamepastor. Under his leadership, people are getting saved and the church has come alive again. This past Sunday they had 70 in attendance. I do believe that God has some special things in store for SCF. Please continue to pray. Please pray that God will shower His precious Holy Spirit upon them. Pray for Gary as he leads. Pray for the church members as they demonstrate the love of Christ. Pray that God will look favorably upon them.

Be on mission this coming Sunday! We need to follow-up on those God led our way during the “Skit Guys.” Don’t forget to gather thisSunday,September18,at4:45p.m.intheOfficeBuilding.Wewillmakeassignmentsandgo out into the community.

Music/Worship MinistryWOW! This past Sunday was an incredible time in all three of our services. God gave us wonderful times of worship, praise and remembrance. I want to say a word of thanks to our great Celebration Choir, Celebration Wind Ensemble, Instrumentalists and the Tech Team. You are a special group and it is an honor to work along side you here at Calvary. Thank you for allowing the Lord to work and minister in and through you. This Sunday, September 18, we will have our “Tryditions” for our Youth Christmas Production.Wewillmeetat2:00intheChoirRoom.Then,wewillhaveourregularrehearsaltime beginning at 4:45 in The Zone. We are off to a good start and we always are looking for additional students to join us. See you there!

From the Interim Pastor Calvary was once again recognized for anoutstandingVacationBibleSchool by theAlabama Baptist State Convention! Under the excellent leadership of Charles and certainly all who assist him, Calvary continues to have oneofthebestVBS’sinourState.Iwasabletovisitthisyear’sVBSandfoundthestaffandour exciting team of volunteers doing a great job. To all the staff and workers, THANKS for anawardwinningVBS! As announced Sunday, the results of the Skit Guys verified the purpose of providingthis intentional outreach event. To be able to discover prospects and most of all have professions of faith, makes this effort more than worthwhile. Intentional evangelism events are used by over ninety percent of all growing churches. By the way, in cooperation with our State Evangelism office, we arerecommending that every church have at least four intentional evangelism events during 2012.Fromsometypeofrevivalemphasistoevents such as the Skit Guys, being creative in evangelism I believe is on the heart of Calvary. No doubt Calvary will continue to not only be aleaderinVBS,butinstrategicallyplanningto reach the unchurched and lost. Thanks to our staff for taking the lead in having the Skit

Guys and desiring to impact our Jerusalem for Christ! Next Monday, Calvary’s Senior AdultChoir will be singing at our Associational Sing-a-Long. Traditionally this has been a glorious time as our seniors lead us in praise. I am certainly looking forward to this year’s sing and to have Calvary’s choir just adds to the excitement! If you are free and want to hear singing that will thrill your soul, join us at 10:00a.m.atMemphisBaptistChurch. As you know some time to time I will have to be out fulfilling obligations in oursister churches. Primarily, these will be on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. However, inOctoberIwillmisstwoSundaymornings, one for vacation and the other for Alabama Raceway Ministries. I have secured two ofourStateMissionaries,Dr.RickLanceandDr.SammyGilbreath,tospeakonOctober9and23.Youwill not want tomiss hearing thesegifted preachers! As these dates approach, I will share more about our special guests and the work of our Alabama Baptists State Convention.
