The Future on the HorizonCamden is a dynamic city, evolving from a proud history of innovation. The birthplace of renowned poet Walt Whitman boasts an influential legacy, including the first recording studios in the United States, one of the first railroad lines in the country, the world’s first commercial nuclear-powered ship, and the largest and most productive shipyard in the world at its peak.

Today, more than 2,000 employees work, 7,000 students study, and millions of tourists visit the core of the invigorated city where more than $2 billion of investment is underway. The future of Camden continues to hold great promise as one of the nation’s leading developers, Liberty Property Trust, builds a 20-acre, mixed-use development called The Camden Waterfront in an unprecedented location.

n Holtec International’s headquarters and manufacturing complex is underway

n Subaru of America is constructing a new corporate headquarters adjacent to the global headquarters of the Campbell’s Soup Company

n Both the Rutgers University - Camden School of Nursing and Science and the Rowan University & Cooper Health Sciences Campus are expanding

n American Water will move to its new corporate headquarters in The Camden Waterfront by Fall 2018

American WaterThe American Water development is the first project in The Camden Waterfront. The 220,000 square foot headquarters building will host nearly 700 employees and opens in late 2018.

Within the Grow NJ program, Camden is designated as a Garden State Growth Zone (GSGZ). As such, substantial tax benefits are available to qualified investors in Camden:

n All industries eligible, with bonuses available for target industries

n Camden projects may qualify for the highest levels of economic tax incentives

n Corporate business and insurance premium tax credits available up to 10 years

n Base tax credit award is $5,000 per full-time job per year for up to 10 years in Camden

n Gross tax credit award including bonuses is $15,000 per full-time job per year for up to 10 years in Camden

n Capital investment definition in Camden can include all development, redevelopment and relocation costs

n Approved incentive amounts based on net benefits test for New Jersey

n Unused tax credits transferable and saleable at a discount
