SHOW SOCIETY AGM The Canowindra PA&H Association will be holding their AGM on Saturday 6 March 2010. It will be held in the Nangar Room of the Canowindra Services Club commencing at 7pm and all Show Society members are welcome to attend. The AGM will wrap up the 2009 Show and start the planning for the 2010 Show which will be on 24 & 25 September. One of the topics for discussion will be the replacement of the prime cattle yards which were dismantled last year to revamp the tractor pull area and allow bet-ter flow of traffic for the dog section. So the committee looks forward to seeing all interested people at the AGM and for the light supper afterwards. For those interested, and did not know, PA&H stands for pastoral, agricultural and horticultural!

DRINK DRIVER CAUGHT TWICE A man has been charged after recording an alcohol reading four times over the limit after allegedly being caught drink-driving twice in the space of eight hours on Sunday. About 2:55pm, a 58-year-old man was stopped by police while driving his Toyota Lexus in Cowra. He was subjected to a breath test and returned a positive reading before being taken to Cowra Police Station and submitted to a breath analysis where he recorded a high-range reading. At 10:45pm, nearly eight hours later, officers from Canobolas Local Area Command saw the man’s Toyota Lexus parked next to a phone box on Ferguson Street at Canowindra. The 58-year-old man alighted from the vehicle and police saw him having difficulty in walking to the phone box. He was arrested and taken to Canowindra Police Station for a breath analysis where he returned a reading of 0.240, more than four times over the 0.05 limit. The man was charged with two counts of drive with high range PCA and one count of drive while licence suspended and is expected to appear at Cowra Local Court on 3 March 2010.

SAVE OUR POLICE A petition is now available for signing at Belubula Butchers, Canowindra News-agency, Canowindra Bottleshop and The Phoenix office, to retain the current number of police officers allocated to Canowindra. Senior Constable Janine Cogin and SC Anthony Attard have been doing a great job in our community and we would like to see SC Attard stay. You can help by adding your name to a petition, or a single signature letter, which will be sent to the Superintendent of the Canobolas LAC for action. Updates will be included in future issues.
