When I think of a mother’s love,
immediately my deceased mother comes
to mind, along with my mother-in-law. A
mother’s love is difficult measure, but it
is obvious to see if you are the least bit
discerning. Unfortunately, only after I lost
my mother did understand the depth of her
love, as I suspect most people discover. As I
thought about this further and why this
takes place, (not everyone of course) is
that we take for granted their presence in
our lives. Moms always want the best for
their children, always, and they will always
be there, yet often this slips past our grasp
of understanding. I think the key word is
‘love’, which is lived out in thought, word,
and deed.
They gave us life and birthed us into
the network of relationships which gives
that life meaning, the family. They taught
and nurtured us on the way, by offering
wisdom, example, and practical experience.
They picked us up when we fell and
unconditionally loved us back when we
strayed. There is no-one like a mother, no
substitute for her place, no equal to her
love and placement in our own formation.
Mothering is an ongoing relationship of
love and care.
As we celebrate Mother’s day, let
us remember Motherhood has to do with
protecting life while it is in formation,
whether that is life in the womb or the living
out life within a family or by one’s self.
Motherhood is about mentoring relationships
whenever the need is identified.
Recently I read of how the relation-
ship between Jesus and the Father cannot
be reduced to some type of formula. When
we try to name this relationship; we often
times are left with imagery or metaphor in
order to somehow take it from the abstract
to a more tangible perspective. I would
suggest that we could use the same analogy
with our relationships with mothers.
I cannot speak for anyone’s mother
except mine, but I tend to think they all
have the same goal; that is, to lead us
into a relationship with our loving God.
I remember fondly how my mother demon-
strated often without words what a deep
and dynamic relationship with our loving
God looks like.
The Gospel for this weekend invites
us to enter into a active and vibrant relation-
ship between the Father and the Son and the
Word. Once we engage, this relationship
never ends, only continues, often deepens,
and typically challenges us. The first verse
“Do not let your hearts be troubled, You
have faith in God; have faith also in me”
speaks to this.
I still can hear my mother say (in
her own way), ‘God calls each of us to
salvation’; “He calls us a thousand times
a day in little whispers; are you listening?”
God always responds to the honest heart.
Are we listening as our mother’s taught us?
Happy Mother’s Day
Deacon’s Perspective by Deacon Dennis Bennin
Cocktail Hour
Who hasn’t been enjoying more cocktails during this pandemic quarantine time? And who hasn’t been longing for community? Well – how about we bring those two elements together into a virtual cocktail hour?
Joe Zenk will send out a weekly invitation to the first 20 people that email him ([email protected]) for a Zoom chat to be held each Thursday evening at 5:00 p.m. Our next Cocktail Hour? Thursday, May 14 at 5:00 p.m. You are not signing up for a cocktail hour each week by sending Joe an email – just for that week. And frankly, I (Joe) have very little tech savvy and no idea how this will go, so patience and good cheer (along with your drink!) will be most necessary.
Happy Mother’s Day!
May God bless all you mothers, grandmothers, godmothers and all those who are mothers to us in any way. You are such a blessing to us! Thank you for showing the face of God to us through your compassion, your patience, your constancy, your life and your challenges. May God bless you this day and always!
Churches Open
If you are looking for a spiritual uplift, or simply desirous to be in a familiar space with the company of parishioners, our churches will be open on a rotating basis from 3-6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday (Mon & Thurs: Ss. Peter & Paul; Tues & Fri: St. Ann; Wed & Sat: Holy Rosary). Ss. Peter & Paul will also be open on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to Noon.
This is seen as essential to who we are as a community, and has the blessing of local law enforcement. Christ will be exposed in a monstrance at each of our parishes for adoration. And prayer tools have been put out to assist you in your faith walk, should you wish. Deacon Randy, Deacon Dennis or Joe will be present as well in case you need someone to talk to or pray with.
Limit 10!!
Just a reminder – that if you come to pray in our churches when the Eucharist is exposed, we are still limited to only 10 people at a time in the worship space. If you come and see that there are 10 people already within the church, please be patient and wait for someone to leave. Also, if you notice that others are waiting while you are still in prayer, please be courteous and allow others the chance to have that same prayer time. Thank you for honoring the constraints placed upon us during this time.
Need to Talk?
Don’t be afraid to call any of us at the offices. While the offices are closed, staff will be checking their messages frequently and will be back in touch. Emergency situa-tion? Contact Joe at (920)918.0903

Sacrament of Reconciliation
Fr. Carl is still present for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, should you desire to partake of that. He is at Holy Rosary on Wednesdays at 5:00 and Ss. Peter & Paul Sundays at 9:00 a.m.
Stewardship Comparing 2019 to 2020 (during the last seven weeks)
Many of you who regularly give at Mass have been mailing your check to us. Some have set up a credit card or elec-tronic fund transfer to support our parishes. More fami-lies are using SS. Peter & Paul’s secure online giving page at https://www.ssppkiel.org/giving.html to make their gifts. Please know how grateful we are for you and your abundant support of our parishes.

SS. Peter & Paul
2019: $33,805 2020: $27,940 Difference: $5,865 (82.7%)

SCRIP
One way to help the parish financially is through your use of scrip. Scrip is gift cards from participating merchants to pay for your purchases. Holy Rosary has scrip available during banking hours at Premier Financial Credit Union in New Holstein. You do not need to be a member of the credit union or Holy Rosary to stop and get scrip. Not all of the merchants we carry are available at the credit union. If you need something special or need a larger quantity, please call the parish office (898-4884) or email([email protected]) and let us know and we will make sure the credit union has it available. Kim is in the SS. Peter & Paul office periodically each week specifically for scrip sales, usually Tuesday & Wednesday from 10—2. If anyone wants scrip, please send an email ([email protected]) or leave a message on the office phone (894-3553). Your order will be filled, put in an envelope with your name on it and put on a table in the waiting area outside of Kim’s office. She would prefer to know a head so she can have it all ready for you and you can just come in, grab it from the white table, leave a check & go so we don’t violate any WI directives. If that time doesn’t work for you, just let her know and she’ll try to work something out.
Please contact Jayne Engel at 894-3904 to purchase Scrip at St. Ann.
Thanks for your support.

Zoom Pastoral Council Meeting
Members of our three parish pastoral councils are invited to participate in a Zoom Virtual Meeting this coming Tuesday, May 12. You will be sent a link to connect if you are able to join us in a conversation about the current state of our parishes and ask questions/make suggestions. Hope to see you then!
Lenten Project Thank you to everyone who has so generously given to this year’s Lenten Project: Neighbor to Neighbor – Hand to Hand. So far we have received $13,528 which will be equally divided between New Holstein’s Help-ing Hands Food Pantry, the Kiel Community Food Pan-try and the Holyland Food Pantry. If you would still like to make a gift to this year’s project, please have all gifts turned into your parish by May 10.
Rest in Peace Please keep Fr. Norm Krutzik in your prayers. Fr. Norm passed away on Saturday, April 25. He was a native son of Holy Rosary and had a great love for this church and this community. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
Parish Offices Parish offices will be closed for the time being, but staff will be in frequently and checking messages daily. If you need anything, call and leave a message. Someone will get back to you promptly. Joe Zenk can be reached at (920)918.0903. We are still here to serve you, so please call or email if you need something.
You can call the Holy Rosary parish office at 898-4884 or email Sue at [email protected]. Sue can also be reached at home at 898-4411 (leave a message). The SS. Grab & Go Bags
All three parishes have bags of Grab & Go food for ANY families/couples/individuals in need. No questions asked. Simply take what you need. Or grab one for someone who might need it. If the supply runs low, we will restock. They include instant single serving foods, like mac & cheese, rice, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, granola bar, pudding. (items may vary) The bags can be found in the porch of the parish center at St. Ann, on the stairs of the rectory at Holy Rosary and in the two bins outside of the rectory office at Ss. Peter & Paul. Spread the word. Thank you to the generous donors who have contributed funds to make this possible for our community.
