Let Us Pray! O Lord, giver of life and source of freedom, I know that all I have received is from your hand. Gracious and loving God, You call us to be stewards of Your abundance, the caretakers of all you have entrusted to us. Help us to always use Your gifts wisely and teach us to share them generously. Send the Holy Spirit to work through us, bringing Your message to those we serve. May our faithful stewardship bear witness to the love of Jesus Christ in our lives. We pray with grateful hearts, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Blessed Lord, accept this burning candle as a sign of my faith and love for You.
Like this candle, I am ready to be used in your service without asking why and to what purpose.
Even as this candle, I wish to stand in Your presence and to be consumed in the light and warmth of our
Love. Please hear my prayer and,
if it is Your will, grant my petition. But above all, make me loyal and faithful to You
in all circumstances of my life. Amen.

We will be holding two (2) Parish Assemblies regard-ing our upcoming merger in July. The assemblies are scheduled at St. Sylvester Church and St. Albert the Great Church in order to give all of our parishioners the opportunity to attend (the assemblies are the same so attendance is not required at both). SAVE THE DATES: Monday, March 2nd at St. Sylvester 7:00 p.m. or Tuesday, March 3rd at St. Albert the Great 7:00 p.m. Please join us as we move forward in building our “new” Parish Community. The prophet Isaiah inspires us with these words: “Light shall rise for you in the darkness, and the gloom shall become for you like midday.” All of us celebrating the liturgy today praise God for these words of encouragement. Surely each of us knows the gloomy side of life, but today’s readings propose a brilliant antidote to misery: the light of service. Isaiah focuses on physical suffering, telling us to provide
food, clothing, housing, and equal opportunity to those with limited resources. Moving beyond material needs, Saint Paul demonstrates how to proceed hum-bly when attending to people’s spiritual needs. Saint Matthew’s Gospel stirs us to bold action: whatever gifts we have, we must put them at the service of our communities. As Christians, we must engage with one another without holding back, letting our light shine before all.
“If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes
care of itself.” – Henry Ford

DEACON MIKE’S CORNER DEACON TIM’S BOOK & MOVIE REVIEW
There were 11 people hanging onto a rope dangling from a helicopter. Ten were men and one was a woman. They all decided that one person should get off because if someone didn’t, the rope would break, and everyone would die.
No one could decide who would go, so finally the woman gave a really touching speech, saying she would give up her life to save the others, because wom-en were used to sacrifice for their husbands and chil-dren, giving to men, and not receiving anything in re-turn. When she finished speaking all the men applaud-ed. Both men and women are called to be the ‘salt of the earth’. Whether it is in their marriage relation-ship or in their day to day lives. In ancient times salt was a spice. It was a preservative. Roman soldiers were sometimes paid in salt. This is where the saying ‘worth your salt’ came from. God tells us that we are the salt of the earth.
In today’s Gospel Jesus reminds us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. To be the salt of the earth is to be honest and devoted. It is to re-main true to our Catholic, Christian way of life. It is to always reflect the will of God in our daily lives. It is to never loose your flavor, your zest for God. This is both a complement and an expectation of what Jesus expects in our lives. Take a moment today to evaluate how you are doing at being God’s salt to all those around you. Are we doing all we can to live up to God’s expecta-tions? ~Deacon Mike “In Christ: We Are One, We Are Sent”

On June 24, 1981, our Blessed Mother appeared for the first time to some chil-dren in a town called Medjugorje, in the former communist country of Yugoslavia.
She has been appearing there ever since. In Febru-ary 2015 an online contest was announced, inviting people of all beliefs and backgrounds to submit videos stating why they should win one of the seven free trips to Medjugorje and appear in a documentary. To keep the film objective, they chose two atheists, a young mother with cancer, a struggling ad-dict, a Catholic with doubts about Marian apparitions, a father with ALS, and a believer raising nine children by himself. In this documentary, they interviewed the group members before, during, and after the two-week trip to Medjugorje. In 2017, the award-winning documentary called Apparition Hill was released on DVD and Blue-Ray. This is a very powerful movie. In watching this DVD, you will see how every member of the group was deeply affected by their experience at Medjugorje. For example, one of the atheists has gone back to Medju-gorje several times, and even this atheist has made ro-saries for the cast and crew. The people filmed their experiences and made their commentary on their own cell phones, which adds to the authenticity of this DVD. This documentary is very well done, even though it is not at all done from a Catholic perspec-tive. Regardless, I give Apparition Hill Five Beards out of Five Beards because it takes you to Medjugorje and lets you experience firsthand what this group of people experienced in Medjugorje. As stated, this is all shown via their commentaries and videos recorded from their own cell phones. This documentary will make you think about Marian apparitions and even for yourself to answer the questions "Can this be real, and if so, what does it mean to me and to the world?" ~Deacon Tim Live Jesus in our hearts….Forever!
LIVING STATIONS...Save the Date The CCSP Christian Mothers & Guild are again spon-soring the St. Ferdinand Youth Group Living Stations Lenten Service on Sunday March 8th @ 7:30 p.m. at St Albert the Great Church. It is truly an enriching and great example of youth dedication and faithfulness. Please plan to join us for this inspiring service.

Possible future name for our new merged parish.
Please take some time to prayerfully consider the qualities and attributes of our three parishes. Carefully read and think about the names and rationales listed below. Please indicate your top three choices cut out and return this sheet in the
collection or to one of our offices NO LATER THAN: February 17, 2020.
PLEASE KNOW THAT YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS FOR YOUR CHOICES TO BE COUNTED.
•Three becoming one strengthened by the Holy Spirit •Called to be missionaries of Jesus •Working for the underprivileged in our community
•Courageously live out our faith in our community •Putting aside differences, working together for Christ •Courageously working together to build the Church
The following are just some of the many characteristics provided by parishioners when suggesting possible names for the new parish.
Please choose three ( 3 ) in order of preference to be considered. Once a total list is collected and compiled, the top three names will then be sent to Bishop Zubik who will then make his choice from the three OR he may choose a different name if the Holy Spirit moves him to do so.
______ St. Vincent de Paul - was a French priest dedicated to serving the poor and is venerated as a saint in both Catholic and Anglican Churches. Our grouping has a strong and active connection with the St. Vincent de Paul Society doing a great deal of outreach to the needy. ______ St. Thomas the Apostle – Known as the doubter who became a man of great faith. Thomas was the first to verify the resurrection of the Lord. Like many of us, he had doubts but after an encounter with Jesus, came to believe and made the first public profession of faith. ______ St. Jude – One of the original Apostles, he had a direct connection with the Lord. Jude is Aramaic for “support of God”. Our community and world needs the support of God to continue our mission and be courageous in living out our faith. ______ St. Ignatius (of Loyola) – A spiritual director who lived a spiritual life on the essential foundations of Christianity— the Trinity, Christ, the Eucharist. We are a community centered on our Triune God, the works of Christ and the Eucharist. As a community we should continue the mission of Christ and his Church. ______ St. Jerome – In his years after ordination, plague and famine swept northern Italy. Jerome began caring for the sick and feeding the hungry at his own expense. Our community does so much for the poor and sick in great ways with our contributions of time, talent and treasure. ______ Holy (Blessed) Apostles - called together by Christ as his closest followers to learn from Him and follow Him. After His death and resurrection, He sent them out to gather all nations and to build His church. Despite anxieties and fears, they trusted Him and utilized the gift of the Holy Spirit He gave them to go out into the world and build His church. ______ St. Francis Xavier – Patron saint of missions. We are called to be missionaries of Jesus, although we all have different skills and talents to accomplish our calling. Our new parish could reflect our ministries as missionaries of Jesus. ______ St. Veronica – She wiped the face of Jesus. As the stations of the cross mention our faith calls us to wipe the faces of those in need. They are all around us, the playgrounds, the work place, hospitals, nursing homes wherever the needy are so is Jesus. The amount of outreach our parish does throughout the community takes to heart the actions of Veronica. ______ St. Grace (of Lerida) – Converted from Muslim to Catholicism and converted many to the faith including most of her family. We as a parish are called to bring all into one, one faith, one Lord one mission. ______ Blessed Trinity - Symbolic of the love of our Triune God whose love brought us together, from three to one and taught us how to love one another and one parish family. Our unity formed from our diversity, strengthens us and enables us to do even more for one another and especially the needy of our community. Love one another as God loves us.
