Sacrament of the Sick Who can receive this sacrament? Those who are chronically ill, are having
treatments or will be having surgery this month. We invite you to come receive
the Sacrament of the Sick, a source of strength, healing and grace. The
Sacrament of the Sick will be administered on Sunday, July 8, 2018 a�er the !10:00 a.m. Mass at Christ the King & Our Lady of Lourdes, and a�er the 11:30
Mass at St. Edith Stein parish.�

RCIA—Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Are you or someone you know interested in finding out more about the Catholic

It is important to note that Confirmation (grades 9-10) and First Communion (grades 1-2) are
both 2-year programs, and your child should be registered for both years.
Students attending Catholic High Schools must also participate in both years of confirmation preparation at the Tri-Parishes.
First Communion students who attend Catholic elementary school do not need to attend all of the classes, but do need to be registered (at no charge) so that parents are aware of mandatory meetings and special Masses and events that the children will enjoy participating in.

Brockton Fair Parking
Our Lady of Lourdes will be providing parking for the Brockton Fair which is scheduled for June 29th - July 8th. Volunteers will be needed to assist with the fair parking on those nights and weekend days. The money raised will be used for the Youth Group and other youth activities. Parishioners from all three parishes are welcome to sign the Sign-Up sheets which are located at the church doors of all three churches. Please consider volunteering some of your time for this worthwhile fundraiser. If you have any questions, please contact Scott Fearing at Our Lady of Lourdes. Thank you.

Dear parishioners,
As you may know, this coming July 1, 2018 will mark the
beginning of my new assignment as Administrator of Saint
Matthew Parish in Dorchester and Saint Angela Parish in
Mattapan. This will also mark an end to my assignment at
our Brockton Tri-Parish Collaborative. I can't believe it! I have
been working in Brockton parishes for 13 years! It has been a
great privilege for me to serve our parish communities. It has
also been an opportunity to grow in my ministry as I have
enjoyed the abundant riches of our cultural diversities. My
deep feeling is that I have learned a great deal from you. I
will definitely keep you all in my heart and I am grateful for
so many blessings. I want to thank all of you, our clergy, the
sisters, the staff members of all three parishes, all our groups,
and every single parishioner, for your welcome, your
goodness, and so many memories of your presence in my
life. You may be out of sight, but you will be close to mind.
May we all move forward on our journeys toward God's
Kingdom as we remain united in Christ! Be assured of my

Garcia!Notre!Dame du Perpétuel Secours (suite): Apres avoir été préservé du naufrage, le protégé de Marie se dirigea vers Rome avec l’intention de n’y séjourner que peu de temps et de poursuivre sa route. Cependant, la Providence avait d’autres desseins. La Sainte image était entrée à Rome pour ne plus en sortir. Son possesseur, en mettant les pieds dans la Ville Eternelle, avait, sans le savoir, terminé la mission qui lui était dévolue dans ce monde. Car, au moment où il pensait quitter Rome, une maladie grave le retint malgré lui. Appelant son ami, il lui remit la précieuse image tout en lui demandant de faire en sorte qu’elle fut exposée publiquement dans une église de Rome pour être honorée. Son ami lui promit d’exécuter fidèlement sa promesse. Et satisfait de cette assurance, le dévoué serviteur de Marie rendait paisiblement son âme à Dieu. Après trois siècles dans l’obscurité et de miracles, les religieux rédemptoristes présentèrent une requête au Pape Pie IX pour que l’image soit publiquement exposée. En 1877, Mme Desjardins apporta en Haïti une image pour le R.P. Kersuzan curé de la Cathédrale de Port�au�Prince au moment où une épidémie de petite vérole avait déjà tué plus de 20.000 personnes. A cette époque où il n’y avait pas encore de vaccins, le corps médical se tourna vers l’église pour une prière d’intercession. Le 5 février 1882, Mgr. Jean�Marie Guilloux suivit d’une importante foule marchèrent en procession dans la ville de Port�au�Prince derrière l’image et termina la journée en célébrant une messe pour sauver le pays. La ville fut bénie avec l’image. Le même jour dans la soirée, une pluie diluvienne s’abattit sur tout Port�au�Prince. Et à partir de cette date l’épidémie commença à baisser jusqu'à disparaître entièrement (fin).!!
