Three Kings Day
By Gianna and Selena
History★ Three Kings day is celebrated on January 6th.
★ It’s also called El Dia de Reyes in South America.
★ The day marks the end of the Christmas season and gives thanks for
the Three Wise Men( also known as the Three Kings).
★ The Three Kings are also known as the Magi.
Religion ★ Three Kings Day is also known as “The Epiphany” in the Church.
★ Some Churches use the Epiphany to celebrate Jesus’s baptism as well.
★ The gold, frankincense , and myrrh in the story all have religious
purposes.
★ The Church ends the Christmas season on Three Kings Day.
Customs
★ On the night before Three Kings Day, children gather a bunch of hay
and grass and put it in a box and leave it under their bed.
★ They also leave a bowl of water under their bed too!
★ This is so that when the Three Kings come by to deliver presents to
baby Jesus, their camels can eat.
★ In South America they have large feasts and kids make crowns in
honor of the Kings.
★ For Three Kings Day, “Roscón” is commonly eaten as dessert.
★ In France, “Galette De Rois” is an almond cake with a hidden toy
baked inside.
★ The hidden toy baked in the cake represents baby Jesus.
★ Three Kings Day is celebrated as a bountiful feast with your family
and friends.
Foods
Fun Facts
★ Disneyland celebrates Three Kings Day too, but it doesn’t just last a day, it lasts 3 whole days!
★ The Three Kings names were Melchior, Casper, Balthazar.

Jesus’s Baptism!

under your bed and maybe, The Three Wise men will come and leave you a gift!
★ You can also ask your parents to say a prayer on Three Kings Day or go to the Three Kings
Day mass.
★ You could also make a crown out of paper or wear a plastic crown in honor of the Three
Kings!
★ You could tell all your friends and family about Three Kings Day and explain to them the story
of the Three Wise Men and how they visited Baby Jesus and followed the Star.
