A MESSAGE FROM OUR BISHOP

“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God, And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4;6-7)

The word “careful” in the text admonishes against unbelief. It comes from the Greek word “merimnao (mer-im-nah’-o), which means “to be anxious, distracted, or concerned.”

The text says that the peace of God that passes all understanding shall keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Our hearts and minds should be fixed on our blessed Redeemer, and this distraction is what keeps us from our proper station before Christ. This causes us to come before Him not “seeking” but with anxious thoughts and concerns. Our text tells us that nothing should come before the Lord and us.

It is the same Greek word that is used for the word “careful” in Luke 10:41: “And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things.”

That which happened to Martha often happens to us. It’s called the “process of life”. The duties of many things: schedules, issues, demands, our agenda produces a cumbered and troubled mind. Our spirits begin to feel the pressure and the result is problems rather than productivity, activity rather than accomplishment, frustration and fatigue rather than fruit and forward movement.

As believers and ministers so anxious to achieve and make full proof of our calling, we become as Martha, “cumbered about with many things”. We can’t stay focused upon the “better part”—the good that is more important in the eyes of the Lord rather than the minor

things that we busy ourselves with because we want things just right in the eyes of man.

I remember a Homecoming Sunday some years ago while I was pastoring the Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. Homecoming, an annual day of celebration, an important day and event on the calendar. A day that we had looked forward to and had worked diligently to clean the facilities, manicure the yards, set the house in order to meet our guests. I was totally caught up in the process and by late Saturday afternoon everything was in perfect order. Surely everyone would arrive the next day and be so impressed with the immaculate grounds, facility, and hospitality we would extend to them. All was well until sometime before daybreak the next morning. A rain and windstorm came through the area and blew the fresh pine straw from around the shrubbery, scattering hither and yon. When I looked outside and saw the once well groomed yards now trashed with debris and scattered pine straw, I must have panicked! I grabbed a pitchfork, a rake and broom and went to work as hard as I could getting things back into shape.

After about two or three hours of “Martha work”, I had it done! However; in my hustle and bustle, I had not taken time to do my Sunday morning praying—getting into the proper spiritual position to make it a special “spiritual treat” for all those that would come. I was even somewhat short-tempered with others, rather than being hospitable and gracious. I didn’t show appreciation to the wonderful ladies of the church that had cooked and prepared a delicious meal for our church family and visitors. I even found fault with the way some of the food

was placed on the serving table. Thank God for those who would look the other way and laugh it off as they wondered what was going on with the pastor!

Well, what was wrong was that I was “cumbered about” with too many unimportant things rather than the more “important” matters of spending time at the Master’s feet. That taught me a lesson. At times I still have to return to that classroom of life and relearn not to be anxious

merimnao (mer-im-nah’-o -Greek word) to be anxious,

distracted, or concerned...the PEACE

OF GOD...shall keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus

That which happened to Martha often happens

and concerned about the things that really are not that important. People would have understood the yards being out of shape. There had been a sudden unexpected storm during the night. What they wouldn’t understand was a “stormy” pastor that had been anxious about trivial things.

We need to remember “the one thing that is needful.” The “good part” that Mary had chosen, which would not be taken away from her. We need to choose the “good part.”

Martha had come to the Lord Jesus being critical of Mary, yet Mary was sitting at His feet and He was serving her soul. She received that peace that passes all understanding, and the Lord Jesus was keeping her heart and her mind. Her heart and mind were not so busy with the things of this life. Her heart and mind were centered on things of more value. ■

On July 19th Lake City PH opened its doors and hearts to the people of Lake City and the surrounding communities. After the incredible Camp Meeting services and the challenge from the speakers to tell the lost about Jesus and to hear from those in Hell, Lake City church was moved to action.

July was declared evangelism month and the church went to work. Through the vision of church member, Dianne Moen, the church had been gathering clothing for the past several months. Hundreds of pounds of clothes were collected and sorted through; only the best of the best was kept to be given away. The entire town was saturated with flyers and advertisement; large signs were placed at every intersection of town. The announcement was simple: free clothes would be given away on Sunday evening at 6 pm. The church prepared a program presenting Jesus through song, drama, and the Word. The program would be presented prior to the clothing being given away. A prayer meeting began Sunday July 12th and every night for seven nights. The church came together asking God to send forth laborers into the harvest. We really had no idea what to expect. We cast our bread on the waters and believed that God’s Word would not return void.

In the July 19th morning service, a young lady came early for the giveaway and got more than she came for. After a week of prayer, God’s Spirit fell and she was arrested by the Holy Ghost. She came to the altar and gave

her life to Jesus. That evening people started gathering early and by 5:30 the sanctuary was completely full. People continued to come. The crowd was estimated at over a thousand people. The church was packed from the balcony to the floor. People lined the walls and filled the foyer; the choir was emptied to make room for more

people to get into the church and they sat on the steps of the stage and on the floor of the altar area. The greatest news of all came in the altar call. Many came forward for prayer and salvation. Salvation did not stop in the church. Even while looking through clothes in the Family Life Center, people were giving their hearts to the Lord. Only eternity will tell what will become of July 19, 2009.

One thing is for sure Lake City PH will never be the same. You can log onto our website @ lakecityphchurch.org and view this powerful service.

I want to thank you for allowing me to serve you, these past eleven years, as the Women’s Ministries Director of the South Carolina Conference, IPHC. What a wonderful, interesting journey it has been. I have learned so much, about myself, others, life in general and most of all, about ministry. Throughout this journey, I have had the unique opportunity to share my life with all of you. I have so many memories that have enriched my life in ways I could never have imagined. I am forever changed, for one soul cannot touch another without leaving its mark and your imprint is permanently imbedded in my spirit. My journey of

faith has now taken a new direction as I move to Oklahoma City to serve as the Executive

Director of Women’s Ministries. I am saddened, but excited, as I go forward into this next chapter that God has for

me.

The vision statement for the South Carolina Women’s Ministries has been “Proclaiming the Love of our Lord Jesus Christ, with Excellence; Challenging Women to Live Victoriously, Grow Spiritually, and Know God Intimately.” While director of the South Carolina Women’s Ministries, I encouraged directors, in their local church, to do everything with a spirit of excellence. I planned events that would challenge our ladies to a closer, deeper relationship with the Lord and a yearning for that intimate time with Him. I

believe the Lord has sounded a trumpet and women all around the world are being stirred with a new awareness of their high calling in Christ Jesus. During my tenure as the South Carolina Women’s Ministries Director I saw local WM Directors become pastors as they embraced the call of God upon their lives. God is doing great things in the lives of the women of our conference. Watching God move our ladies from one level to another has been a wonderful, rewarding experience for me. I am grateful that the Lord allowed me to be a part of your life in this small way. Thank you for your faithfulness to Women’s Ministries.

I would like to also thank the wonderful ladies that God placed around me these past eleven years. They have truly been my support team and an asset to Women’s Ministries. Tamara Amos having served as my assistant for the past four years will now assume the role as the South Carolina Women’s Ministries Director. Tamara is a very unique and gifted individual and will bring a new dimension to this ministry as your leader. I know you will fully support her as you have me.

God has incredible plans for all of our lives. If we are willing to listen for His call, and dare to risk following His lead, we might find ourselves in most unexpected circumstances, meeting most extraordinary people, and doing things that we never thought possible. Thank you for allowing me to serve you and your churches. God bless you. I will miss you deeply. ■

I can't believe the year is going by so fast. God has blessed Girls' Ministries in so many ways. We had about 280 girls and ladies at Camp Robinson. The girls were transformed from Rag Dolls to Princesses. Mrs. Kathy Christopher was our speaker.

She was such a blessing to us all and the Lord did a great work at our Camp. We had eighteen girls to rededicated their lives to God and two girls to receive the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:31: "If God is for us, who can be against us? " The Father sacrificed his dearly beloved Son to make us his dearly beloved daughters for all eternity.

Sounds of Harley’s shook the neighborhood at 2:30 a.m. Questions from a mind awakened and eyes still closed trying to sleep — Is this really necessary? What in the world is this church doing now? Do they ever sleep?

The Mission: ride to the Armory to see two war heroes off to Iraq! Several from our church riding motorcycles and arriving in a car stood in the parking lot awaiting the arrival of these two great people to say, THE CHURCH OF AMERICA THANKS YOU FOR SERVING! There were jokes of how crazy we were – how much we would have loved to get some sleep. Some of the combat veterans with us had a different attitude – some were joking to mask the memories — some

were processing.

The two arrive, a young father and a young female soldier. The handshakes, hugs were shared. One combat veteran shared some advice on how to return safely. The instructions were given, motorcycles split in two groups, one group would ride in front, and the cars carrying the two soldiers would then get in

line, followed by the remaining motorcycles. A prayer was given by the leader of Hard CORE Motorcycle Ministry, Keith Burd, for safety for the run and for the soldiers. With emergency lights flashing and the roar of the motorcycles we took off for the airport.

Arriving at the airport is always a blessing; the security allows us to ride to ‘our spot’ to park without any hesitation. They know

about our mission and accommodate us all they can.

Once in the airport the soldiers and their family and friends are gathering around the 3’ x 10’ banner that simply states, ‘CHURCHES OF AMERICA THANK YOU FOR SERVING’. As the time approaches for them to board the plane there are more pictures, hugs, tears and then a final prayer by Pastor Gary Burd, a prayer of thanks for this great land we live in and for those who put their life in harms way for continued freedom and finally for the safe return of these great warriors.

Why was this one so different? Look at the pictures, a young father, kissing his small child over and over. A young lady, looks too young – way to young, what is it she is clutching as see enters the boarding area of the airport – a teddy bear. It was all we could do to fight the tears and keep a smile on our faces as we watched this sad

scene.

May God bless our true HEROES — keep them safe and may the church be activated outside the four walls to express our deep appreciation for the sacrifice of so many. God help us remember the freedom we enjoy is not cheap and it is not guaranteed in the future. Please never take it for granted!

Mission M25 provides identity and connectivity for those ministers and ministries of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church that are involved in outreach to the Matthew25 people. Non – IPHC ministers and ministries are welcome to become a part of this effort. ■

CHURCH DEDICATION

On April 5th, 2009 we had the dedication of our new sanctuary at Canaan Land. The Lord has truly blessed our church. Since we have moved into our new church our attendance has doubled. Our morning service is averaging in the 70s and 80s. Our Sunday night and Wednesday night services have also doubled. We had 114 in attendance for our dedication. Bishop Jimmy McKenzie presided over the service. We were blessed to have Sister Violet McKenzie along with Rev. Jimmy & Tame’ Lambert, Rev. Greg Amos, Rev. Larry & Jan

Hancock, Rev. Jerald Starnes, Al & Barbara Newton, and Rev. Rex Faile with us. We had many other special friends who joined us for this special occasion. We have had a good number to give their hearts to the Lord and rededicate their lives since moving into the new church. We praise God for His blessings on Canaan Land. We thank God for our pastor, Rev. William (Bill) Morgan and for the vision God gave him and for him working hard to see this vision of our new church and fellowship hall completed. We are very proud of it. To God be the glory for great things He hath done. - Canaan Land Ministries

CAMP BRANCH PH CHURCH/

FELLOWSHIP HALL DEDICATION

On Sunday morning, May 31, 2009, a “full house” of members and friends came together to observe a special time of worship and fellowship at the Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church. As Bishop Jimmy McKenzie led in the dedication ceremony of both the church and fellowship hall, it was hard to believe that only around two years earlier, on June 21, 2007, the facilities were both destroyed by fire.

Former Pastor and Conference Assistant Superintendent, Rev Jimmy Lambert led in a dedicatory prayer and everyone gave thanks for God’s blessings and the beautiful new church and fellowship hall. The service included several special songs and a wonderful message.

Following the service, a delicious meal was served

and enjoyed in the new fellowship hall, while a video history of the church and its former pastors was shown. It was great to see the progress made through the years at the church and to know that as God’s word teaches, He will continue to give us “beauty for ashes” in all of life’s trials.

Pastor Timothy Davis and his wife, Rita, are giving good leadership at Camp Branch. They are a loving and caring pastoral family. We praise God for them and especially for all that has been accomplished at the church in the two years since the fire.

(Editor’s Note: Pastor Lloyd Ackerman shared pictures and the following pertinent information with us in regard to another successful Kid’s Kamp this year: Kid’s Kamp has become an annual event, hosted by the Ebenezer PH Church, in the Columbia District)

This was our 10th year for Kid’s Kamp. Every year God has blessed us with an increase in enrollment and volunteers. This year was no exception, here are a few statistics:

Partnering churches: 13 Volunteers from all churches : 500 Kamp Enrollment - 1614 Salvations recorded: 501 Bus riders (6 buses) : 200Nightly visitors: around 160Meals served: 2000 nightly

The Kamp is supported by many from our area. We had law enforcement from Lexington County, South Congaree, Cayce and Pine Ridge. Howard Rawls Farms furnished a refrigerated 18-wheeler to keep the food cool. Palmetto Propane furnished ice and we had many businesses in the area to help make this Kamp a great success. We want to thank all for their prayers because that is the secret to a successful camp.” Thank the Lord for another wonderful Kid’s Kamp. I appreciate Pastor Lloyd and all who had a part in this worthy endeavor. I know that everyone is looking forward to next year’s Kid’s Kamp.

ict At 9:45 A.M. on Tuesday, July 14th, the ladies of the

South Carolina Conference gathered for the annual Ladies Day at the Conference Campgrounds.

Sister Violet McKenzie called the meeting to order. Sister Eileen Gunnells led an anointed praise and worship session that ushered in the presence of the Lord and ministered a healing spirit.

Sister Pat Catledge, our speaker for the day, spoke to the wives of their importance in ministry from the text in Genesis 2:18-25, “it is not good for man to be alone”. She stressed the fact that if husbands are called into ministry, then the wives are called also. God made the woman to be the “help meet”. She encouraged the wives to see hospitality not as an obligation, but as a privilege. Not because of who we are, but because of who we can become when we are molded by the hand of God.

The pastor’s wife is a leader, teacher, counselor as well as peacemaker. Sister Pat spoke of five essential steps to climb over the negatives in our lives by using a ladder as the example:

The first rung of the ladder is “Basics”. 1. Foundational elements for success are: studying, praying, attending, tithing, witnessing. The second rung of the ladder is to define 2. your personal ministry. Become co-laborers through being “united to serve”.The third rung of the ladder is “mentoring”. 3. Leading causes us to grow and keep our own hearts fresh and anointed with God.The fourth rung of the ladder is “purpose 4. and direction”. Knowing your purpose and direction gives focus to all tasks. The fifth rung of the ladder is “fruit”. 5. Faithfulness bears fruit, and seeing God make it grow is rewarding.

The wives left with a renewed sense of purpose and meaning believing that they could climb that ladder one step at a time.

We appreciate Sister Violet for offering such a wonderful day to the ladies. Thanks to our worship leader and guest speaker for making it a most memorable time. May God bless you!

There she was, the object of Sergey’s faith. The first day she was in her stall, Sergey went to check on her every hour. What a miracle! He could not stop thanking the Lord.

He was thinking about the long, hot summer. Many were the taunts and ridicule Sergey had to endure from his neighbors and even from his family. It all began when Sergey started to pray about owning a cow. He slowly but surely built a small barn, which was leaning against the house. As curious as Ukrainian neighbors are, they came and looked. What is that barn for, Sergey? Then he told them about the cow. God was going to give him a cow! They looked at him and laughed and laughed till they were red in their faces. How is that possible! Sergey had just been released from prison, where he had found His Lord. He did not have one Chrivna in his pocket. The ridicule got worse when Sergey in the heat of the summer started to make hay. This would be excellent food for his cow. By now the whole village was in stitches from laughter. Even Sergey’s wife, son and daughter tried to talk him out of his faith. Sure a cow would cost a whole year’s income; how is it possible?

I had seen Sergey in the Spring for the first time. He

had just come out of prison and his radiant joy in the Lord impressed me. All summer I was waiting for the day I would see Sergey again. Would the joy of the Lord still be his strength? I was not disappointed when I saw him again in the Fall. He smiled from ear to ear, while he showed me around in their small house, which belongs to the drug center. He also showed

me the barn and the hay and told me about the cow, that the Lord was going to give him. At that moment the Holy Spirit told me clearly what to do. I asked Ben for our emergency money that he always carries with him in his pocket. It was just enough for the cow. I put the money in Sergey’s hand and told him that today God had answered his prayers. Here is your cow.

Never in all our years in missions I have seen a human being so thrilled and excited. He could not stop thanking the

Lord, he laughed and cried, hugged his wife and us and danced through the humble cottage.

Needless to say Sergey taught me a second lesson. The first is about joy and the second is about faith. “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1 I can’t wait to go back and see him again, who knows there may be a third lesson!

Lake City DistrictBARRINEAU P.H. CHURCHDEDICATION SERVICE OF NEW SANCTUARY NOVEMBER 16, 2008 Rev. Bobby Floyd

It was with grateful hearts that the congregation gathered on dedication Sunday. It had been a long journey since the Ground

Breaking Ceremony on April 30, 2006. As you know many obstacles had to be overcome but through it all the church persevered. This made our dedication service even more special to the 475 people that joined us for this day.

The new sanctuary is a beautiful 10,000 sq ft building with a seating capacity of 700. When you consider that we started out in homes in the community and brush harbors in the early 1900’s, we realize how blessed we are to see what God has done. Our founding fathers never imagined that one day such a beautiful place to worship would stand in Barrineau crossroads.

There were many special guests with us and we cannot begin to list them all. However we must give thanks to Larry McKenzie our Building Committee Chairman and also to Al Newton, Newton Construction

Company, Inc. for their dedication to see this project completed. And we would also like to mention two special ladies that were recognized during this service, our oldest member, Mrs. Odessa McKenzie, 91 years old and our longest living member, Mrs. Jessie Fee Floyd, 63 years of faithful service.

We were also honored to have Rev. Greg Amos, Discipleship Ministries Director of the SC Conference, who gave our invocation and Bishop Jimmy McKenzie, who delivered our dedication message. Bishop McKenzie reminded us of our rich heritage in this community and the many men God had called into the ministry over the past generations. He also told us to not only remember where we had come from but keep our focus on where we were going and allow God to lead us.

We at Barrineau are thankful that God has blessed us with many good men to lead us over the years. In the year 2000 one of our own, Bobby Floyd, came to pastor our church. It

was under his leadership that this sanctuary was built. We know we are a blessed congregation to have a young man who truly has a heart for God leading us. His theme through all of this has been “TO GOD BE THE GLORY.”

After 45 years in the old sanctuary, the steeple has been taken down, the pews have been removed but the Spirit of God that blessed us so abundantly in that sanctuary has not been left behind. We did not move away from God, we are moving forward with God and He is still blessing us abundantly. Our hymn of dedication, sung by the choir, was “This Is Your House” and we realize it is God’s house and we are His people. It is our desire that God be honored and glorified in everything that is done at Barrineau.

We echo our pastor’s theme “To God Be The Glory”■ - Mrs Gail Driggers

Revival with the Britt family at Little Lamb

South Carolina Conference likes this.

This was an experience I've never seen in my ministry.

Forty-four (44) saved in eleven (11) services, what can I

say, but “Awesome”!!

What we thought would be an ordinary seasonal autumn revival, turned out to be something spectacular beyond

our imaginations. We began revival on Sunday night, October 18th, and had planned on it ending the following Wednesday night. As the first service started, it felt like any other ordinary service, but unknowing to us, God had other plans. The Holy Spirit began moving in a sweetness that we haven't witnessed in years. As the Anointing moved upon our evangelist's wife Sandra Britt, she began to make an appeal to our teens. Several came forward to the altar and surrendered their lives to Christ.

Who would have believed that the next night would be even grander? The teens that had received Christ the night before had a fire ignited in them that began to spread to their peers. On Monday the youth made an appeal to many of their friends, compelling them to come with them to the service that evening. They were doing what the Word teaches, they were “compelling them to come”.

As the spirit began to move during the evening service on Monday night, the youth began to take their friends by the hand and bring them to the altar. Each one received Christ for themselves. By Wednesday night some eighteen (18) had been saved. After much prayer, the church decided to break until Sunday morning and then continue with the services. What happen next is astounding, as the youth began to communicate on their computers using the latest new thing, Facebook®. They started encouraging and inviting more of their friends to join them on Sunday morning. Here's what some had to say on Facebook®.

Kayla Howell wrote: "Church has been great. I am so ready for tonight. I hope I can get my friends there that I have been working on all week!! I am really excited to see what God will do for us tonight. :) :) :) :)!!!”

Cissia Herndon wrote: “Church has been great! Thank you Mr. Keith & Sandra! You

are truly a blessed family! You will always be in my prayers!”

Matthew Howell wrote: “Preacher I want to thank you for the revival, but most of all thank God for what he did with it. It really meant a lot to me and I hope and pray that the rest of the youth will continue to move to

the front when someone goes to be prayed for. It means a lot to me to see them all up there praying for each other. Church was great tonight. It's been so great, we are extending our revival once again. I want to invite everybody to come. We have had numerous youth and adults to get saved. I'm really ready for church tomorrow!”

This is what our Evangelist, Rev. Keith Britt had to say: “What a wonderful revival at Little Lamb PH church. Through yesterday, forty‑four (44) had accepted the Lord as their Savior. The morning service was outstanding with a move of God that I can only explain as “Awesome”!! I have not seen a move of God like this in a revival in 25 years. The revival services may have ended last night, but not the revival SPIRIT... Praised the LORD! Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray for those who got saved that they will keep on keeping on for JESUS!!”

This was an experience I've never seen in my ministry as well as the church. Forty-four (44) saved in eleven (11) services, what can I say, but “Awesome”!! It was as though the spirit was saying to me, as with Paul when he said: (Italics mine) “And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He who began a good (Preferred work) in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that Progressive work] and perfecting (Prospective wonder) and bringing it to full completion in you”. Philippians 1:6.

I'm looking forward to that "completion" that he started on

Over the past few months, the St. Paul PHC in Swansea, South Carolina has made some changes in their Fellowship Hall. Twelve 6-foot round tables, Four 6- foot rectangular tables and 100 cushioned chairs were added. These were donated by both family and friends “In Loving Memory” of Mr. Thomas E. Hoffman.

Just recently the fellowship hall was completely renovated. The new additions includes a new 18x18 ceramic tiled floor, new ceilings, the concrete walls were wainscoted and sheet rocked, new bathroom fixtures, two new Quietside Mini Split air conditioning/heating units, six new doors, new wooden blinds and new outside porch lighting. Pastor H. Larry Jones said that all of this was done without incurring debt.

Also, a new 12-foot white fiberglass wall cross with backlights was added to the sanctuary on the outside front. This was placed there “In Loving Memory” of Mrs. Annie S. Chavis by her family and friends. This cross was dedicated on Sunday, November 8, 2009 with around 150 of her family and friends present for the dedication service.

On May 17, 2009, the congregation of the Open Arms Ministry PHC under

the leadership of Pastor Timothy and Teresa Gunnells moved to their new location at 1816 Butler Street in the city limits of Denmark, South Carolina. They had previously worshipped in the old Dane Theatre downtown since the church began in 2005.

Their new location is in the old Woodmen of the World building which they have completely renovated. They have added a front to the building which has a seating capacity of around 125. Their largest attendance up to date has been 110.

A policeman in Denmark donated a 24x60 double wide which has been turned into an educational building with 7 Sunday School rooms, a nursery and a pastor’s office.

They celebrated their “4 Year Anniversary & Dedication Day” for their new facilities on Sunday, November 1, 2009 with an afternoon dedication service.

For many years, it has been the desire of the Orangeburg District to have a church in Denmark and we are happy and give praise to God for this now being accomplished. Open Arms Ministry is a place where everyone is welcome with “open arms”. TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!

WALL OF REMEMBRANCEThe new deadline for those who will be contributing to the “Wall Of Remembrance” will be December 31, 2009. This will be our final deadline because the wall will be constructed in early 2010.

At the present time, we have 106 persons who have purchased a tile either “In Honor” or “In Memory” of their loved ones.

It is our desire that no one person be left out. That is why we are making one last effort to contact as many of our Conference Family so those who have faithfully served this conference can be listed on this lasting memorial.

If you have not yet purchased a tile, the cost is only $ 250.00 per tile and the order forms can be obtained from the Conference Office or on our Conference web page at: sciphc.org.

The following is an ongoing listing of those who have contributed to the “Wall Of Remembrance” since the last printing of The Challenge. A full listing can be found on the web page.

FRAN-DAY was a great day of fellowship with one another and celebrating together the blessings of God on CWOC during the first five months of 2009.

We celebrated our Resurrection Seed Offering of over $35,000.00 and all of the improvements we were able to make in the CWOC ministry because of your gifts. We also celebrated the many other 2009 accomplishments and activities.

We had a great crowd of Friends, Relatives, Associates, and Neighbors present for the celebration and lunch which followed in the Family Activity Center.

Below are some photos (compliments of our church photographer, Nova Norman) of just a few of the beautiful people we have here at CWOC (all decked out in their island apparel for the special celebration).

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

The life and ministry of Rev. Durant and Pearline Driggers have blessed the pastorates and the churches that they have served in the South Carolina Conference and in the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. Their musical abilities, singing talents and Durant’s inspired preaching have touched the hearts of many across this denomination.

Rev. L. D. Driggers was licensed in the South Carolina Conference in 1948 and was ordained in 1950. Durant served as Youth and C. E. Director for 9 years. He served on the General Evangelism Board of the IPHC for 12 years. He also served as a member of the South Carolina Conference Board for 12 years.

When asked about their ministry recently and what they are doing now, Durant said, “Sometimes Pearline and I are asked, where are you living now? Or do you still live in Georgia? Or are you still preaching and singing? We are happy to tell you that we live in Rockingham, North Carolina and are still serving the King and His Kingdom. Yes, we are still preaching and singing and praying over many requests that come to us. We still try to be useful to others

by encouraging them and praying for their needs to be met. Yes, we lived for ten years in Royston, Georgia at Emmanuel College and had ten successful years evangelizing over the Southeast. The last three years while there I served as Pastoral Care Minister of the Franklin Springs PHC under the Senior Pastor, Dr. Earl Beatty. What a joyful tenure that was. We shall never forget the wonderful people there”.

Durant and Pearline were married on October 14, 1950. They have enjoyed 58 years of marriage together and will soon be celebrating their “59th Wedding Anniversary”. In talking about their family, they said, “Our daughter, Lynn, and her husband, Robbie, live in Chesapeake, Virginia where they serve as pastors there. Their oldest daughter (our granddaughter), Cynthia, is a Doctor of Pharmacy in Toccoa, Georgia. She and her husband, Ken Hendrix, are active members in their church. Our youngest granddaughter, Christa, is a junior at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That is our family and all of them are servants of God”.

Rev. Driggers superannuated in 1994. Durant said, “The ministry of these almost 62 years has been a wonderful journey and to this day we still feel like traveling on. Pearline and I look back down the trail of life and in one accord we exclaim, “we wouldn’t take nothing for our journey now”. We are still joyfully headed for our eternal home in the skies”.

In March of 1949, Rev. W. M. Hartfield was saved in a revival meeting conducted by Rev. R. E. Powers in a garage building in the Prospect community.

Later, after his conversion, he felt the call to preach and was licensed in 1954 and ordained in 1968 in the South Carolina Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

During his ministerial career, he pastored a number of churches.

Rev. Hartfield said one of the reasons he pastored so many different churches was the superintendent used him as a “trouble shooter” at difficult churches. Brother Willie founded the Hampton PHC. In the early 1960’s, he brought the Faith Tabernacle Church into the conference. In 1967 he founded the Kingsburg PHC. And in 1972, he brought the Rock Church into the conference.

During his pastorates, he said, “In every church we pastored the Sunday School attendance went up”.

His ministry was international in that he visited 22 different countries and some of them more than once. He also represented the Southeastern section of the United States for the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association. Because of Rev. Miss Natalie Carnes, he went to Costa Rica as a missionary for a short time even paying his own way. While in Costa Rica, he said that he saw thousands of people saved.

Rev. Hartfield and his wife, Frances were married on October 23, 1943 and have now celebrated almost 66 years of marriage together. God has blessed them with 3 daughters, 1 son, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

After superannuating in 1990, they are presently attending the Freedom & Liberty Worship Center PHC. Brother Willie said, “I am still preaching” and “I am very thankful that the Lord has given me a good ministry”.
