Visit Welbeck this winter for the annual Christmas Art and Food Market and Harley
Open Studios, 29 & 30 November.
Whether you’re looking for a gift for the guy who has everything, or something extra special for someone
extra special, you are sure to find the perfect present (and at prices to suit all pockets). There will be a
wide range of unusual and hand-made gifts, with 70 artists and designers and a food market fit for the
most fanciful foodie.
This is seriously special Christmas shopping. Each market stall has been selected by experts from
The Harley Gallery and Welbeck Farm Shop. And with artisan production from the Welbeck Estate itself,
visitors can expect to choose from a great range of unique products that have been hand crafted with care
and skill.
From traditional crafts to cutting edge design, top makers from across the country are coming to show off
their work at the Art Market. Browse work from emerging new makers and established stars, from fine
jewellers to quirky printmakers.

As well as the art market The Harley Artists’ Studios will open their doors for the weekend, you can
explore the studio complex to visit these fascinating workspaces and buy directly from the makers. The
Studios are only open to the public twice a year and can be found within the 5th Duke of Portland’s
Victorian Tan Gallop and Kitchen Garden.
The Welbeck Farm Shop will also present their fabulous food market, focussing on local products
including beer, cheese, bread and chocolates made on The Welbeck Estate itself.
With all these arty treats and foodie feasts, The Christmas Art and Food Market and Harley Open Studios
really is a seriously special place to do your Christmas shopping.
Visitors on Friday 28 November can enjoy a special focus on the arts in the Arts Preview. Here you can
take a sneak peek at the art and craft stalls and the Harley Open Studios (before the full event opens on
Saturday), and be among the first to buy from the artists and makers. The Arts Preview will be open from
1pm – 4pm.

THE WELBECK ESTATE is one of the great traditional landed estates, set mainly within Sherwood Forest
in Nottinghamshire, an area of great natural beauty. Welbeck has been the family home of the Cavendish-
Bentinck family since 1606. At the heart of the Estate lies the stately home Welbeck Abbey, which

THE HARLEY GALLERY has a national reputation for excellence and innovation, aiming to widen
participation and develop understanding of the work of practicing artists and makers. Situated on the ducal
estate of Welbeck in North Nottinghamshire, the Gallery is easily accessible from both the A1 and M1.
The three gallery spaces at The Harley show exhibitions of top quality contemporary visual art and craft
which change 5 times a year. The Gallery is also home to a Treasury Museum which is the only exhibition
space dedicated to showing objects from The Portland Collection of fine and decorative arts. It also has a
contemporary Craft Shop, recognized by the Crafts Council as a quality retail outlet. Set up to showcase
and support artists and makers by providing a retail outlet for their work, the Harley Craft shop sells work
from leading British applied artists and emerging makers.
FOOD & DRINK AT WELBECK Welbeck is home to a thriving community of food producers, as well as

unpasteurised blue cheese made using milk from the Estate’s dairy herd, Welbeck Abbey Brewery, brewer
of delicious real ales, the Welbeck Bakehouse, producer of amazing artisan breads and patisserie baked
in beautiful wood fired ovens, and chocolatier and patissier Boutique Aromatique. The Welbeck Farm
Shop stocks products from all of the Welbeck producers and was awarded ‘Best on Farm Butchery’ in the
FARMA Awards 2013.The School of Artisan Food offers the UK’s first diploma in artisan food production
as well as a wide range of amazing short courses for food lovers of all skill levels. The Limehouse Cafe
serves homemade treats and dishes using ingredients from the Welbeck Farm Shop and was named by
The Times as one of the top 30 places for tea in Britain.
