A Place of Peace

Jesus was preparing his disciples for tough times. He was about to ascend to the Father and they would be on their own— left to find their way through this world alone. Yet, they would not be alone for he would be with them in the presence of the Comforter, the Counselor, the Holy Spirit.

In 1520, Ferdinand Magellan battled for an entire year to find a passage around South America. There at the very tip of the continent in its icy waters, he encountered some of the worst weather anywhere on earth. Raging seas, towering ice floes, and a mutinous crew plagued his efforts. When he finally made his way through those straits (which today bear his name—the Straits of Magellan), he entered into a great body of water that lay beyond, and as he and his men lifted their faces to heaven and gave thanks to God, he named the new ocean “The Peaceful One—the Pacific Ocean.”

In the Gospel according to John, we learn that Jesus desires to lead us in the same way to a place of peace. It is his hope to direct our feet and steer our lives from the paths that would lead to hell to his place of peace. “Let not your hearts be troubled,” he says, “neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27)

¡Caminado con Jesús!

Pensando en voz alta…….

Hoy recordamos la llegada de Jesús a Jerusalén y como fue recibido alegremente a la ciudad santa por una multitud de discípulos.

Con ramos en nuestras manos, que son bendecidos hoy, recibimos a Jesús en nuestra vida y le pedimos que la santi-fique con su presencia.

Después, al salir de aquí con nuestros ramos benditos, alabaremos a Dios con alegría, pues Cristo ha salido victorioso, y ha vencido el pecado y la muerte ganándonos así la salvación.

Domingo de Ramos “De la pasión del Señor”

Hoy los discípulos cantan y gritan de alegría al entrar en Jerusalén: ¡Bendito el Rey que viene en nombre del Señor!

Pero dentro de unos pocos días los discípulos guardaran silencio y estarán ausentes cuando Jesús es llevado al Gólgota para ser crucificado bajo una inscripción que decía: “Este es el rey de los judíos”

Desolados y vencidos los discípulos no encuentran sus propias voces hasta que el Espíritu Santo sueltan sus lenguas en Pentecostés.

Pero Jesús les dijo a los fariseos que “si ellos se callan, gritaran las piedras”

Nos da esperanza que durante los tiempos de persecución, de pruebas y aun en el silencio, la creación de Dios de alguna manera dará su testimonio.

Los quiero, reciban mi bendición y no se les olvide orar por mí.

St. Mary’s Students collected nonperishable food items throughout the month of March in conjunction with Minne-sota FoodShare. During this time, students collected 199 pounds of food and raised $21. Way to go SMS! Due to the weather, the St. Mary’s School Board meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 16th. Reminder: There will be no school Thursday, April 18, through Monday, April 22. Snow packets will be sent home with students so parents please make sure the work is done.

SCRIP hours are after the 5:30 & 9:00 weekend Masses & Thursdays at school from 12:30 to 1:30.
