Catholic Sharing Appeal (CSA) is the annual partnering of parishioners across the diocese to support the broader work of our Church at the diocesan level to provide the necessary resources to carry out our missions of teaching, serving and worship-ing by helping those in need, strengthening family life, building a foundation of faith in our parishioners, including our youth, and ensuring that our parishes and diocese will be able to continue making new disciples and building God’s Church on earth, within and outside individual parish boundaries. Over one half of all gifts donated to CSA this year will directly support Catholic Chari-ties, Catholic Schools, and Seminarian Edu-cation. Any gifts raised through CSA that are beyond the diocesan goal for a parish are retained by the parish, without assess-ment, for individual parish needs. Please visit www.ptdiocese.org, click on Catholic Sharing Appeal under Stewardship & Development in order to set up your online account.

The Waterfront Rescue Mission in Fort Walton Beach is looking for

donations of clean, used men’s tennis shoes for the homeless.

Keep the shoes coming! The other day I saw a man walking

wearing only 2 pairs of old socks—even though I knew of the need for shoes: it

shocked me. My thoughts turned to gratitude for the

response our Resurrection community has shown for this and so many other needs.

THANK YOU!

Also needed: Men’s new socks & boxer shorts (all sizes), travel size toiletries, as well as clean, used T-shirts of all sizes for men

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION When we imagine the disciples cowering behind locked doors on the first Easter, it is a matter of the greatest urgency that the doors get opened. They are not locked in as if in prison; rather, they have chosen to marinate in fear. Both the lock and the key stand on their side of the door, in their control. Christ breaks through this significant barrier with a

message of "Peace." The risen Lord's word propels them through the door and along the path leading to the consol-ing image of the community living in harmony in the first reading today. What do we pray for in our tradition? More

than anything else, we pray for peace. Every Mass is an earnest prayer for peace with God, with self, with neighbor, and for peace in the world. Yet, curiously, the peace Christ offers is deeper than the mere absence of conflict. Our tradi-tion treasures the memories of saints who were remarkably open to Christ's gift of peace even in the maelstroms of his-tory. St. Edith Stein and St. Maximillian Kolbe, martyrs of the Holocaust, are but two examples. At the eye of a fearful

storm, they stand as witnesses to the power of Christ's rising in our lives.

Let the Church always be a place of mercy and hope, where everyone is welcomed, loved and forgiven. - Pope Francis
