Dear Compass Ladies, A huge thank you for allowing me to serve as your presi-dent for the last two seasons. I have enjoyed it tremen-dously and am so happy to have had a very capable group of women working with me on the Board.

It has been said before but needs re-peating, Compass Club is a wonderful way to meet women like yourselves. I, for one, have met many in our midst that I am proud to call my friends. We come from different parts of the coun-try as well as abroad, which in my opinion makes for an exciting mix. in the stores were bare, and our des-serts (according to Face Book) have been mouth-watering. How long this will continue, no-one knows, but I hope we will come out of this with more patience and grateful for the sim-ple things in life.

Happy Summer to you and yours. With warm regards,

Ann Fly ☺

I leave you with this last quote:

A strong woman looks a challenge dead in the eye and gives it a wink.

Ladies,

I would like to thank all of the Com-pass Club Members who have so gen-erously contributed to Sally’s House, our Philanthropy Project this year. Un-fortunately we will not be able to have our drawing for prizes at our June luncheon. The Board has decided that Mimi Anderson and I will draw the tickets you have purchased in the last week of May. We will contact the members whose name we have drawn and then will mail you your prizes. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 509-443-3589. You may still mail me any donations before May 23 to be included in the drawing.

Free Rein won the vote for next year’s Philanthropy Project.

Stay healthy and Take Care.

We are a group of ladies that en-joy walking and exploring the Spokane area. We normally walk for about an hour and then grab a beverage at a local coffee shop near our exploration. We have been seen walking areas of the Cen-tennial Trail, Man-ito Park, Kendall Yards, and more. In the winter we often walk inside the malls and sky walks.

We will meet on Monday, June 1st, 9am at Olmstead Park in Kendall Yards.

HAPPY FEET HIKERS/

WALKERS

We will resume wine tasting when local tasting rooms reopen. In the meantime, please check out some of these wine re-sources from the comfort of your home. The owners of http://www.greatnorthwestwine.com have been writing about the wines of Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and Idaho for more than 20 years and often have a wine column published in The Spokesman-Review. For in-formation about local wines, visit the site for the Cork District: https://www.visitspokane.com/cork-district/ and explore the win-eries in our immediate area. If you want to learn more about wine in general, YouTube has many informative videos about wine and food. Ray Isle, execu-tive wine editor of Food & Wine magazine, teaches a wine newbie about French wine in this enter-taining video https://youtu.be/rI7GbeQ-odg.

In addition, many of the wineries are providing curb side pickup and one of our regular venues,

Vino! A Wine Shop, will also bring wines to your car. Happy wine tasting at home until we

meet again!

If you would like more infor-mation about our future wine tast-ings and are not currently on our list, please email me to be added.

BYOB

"And this too shall pass".... hope-fully sooner rather than lat-er! When it does, we will gather in the sun for a BYOB with a glass in hand, good cheer and tasty treats. Keep an eye out for an email notice this summer. Stay healthy!

The Membership Drive went well, with 10 new members being introduced to Compass Club these past few months. New members are Carole Parfett, Erin Heilig, Cindy Gillette, Kate Mietus, Su-san Goff, Connie Murphy, Joyce Thompson, Kathi Brandmueller, Pat Perlman and Irene Hernandez. They will make a wonderful addi-tion to our amazing club. Please reach out to them and get to know them. A very big thank you goes out to the members that introduced these ladies to our club; Linda Milsow, Susan Miles, Wanda Podobnik, Patty McCarty, Nancy Smith, Myrna Brandmueller, and Sharon Russell. They each received a $10 Barnes & Noble Gift Card for each new member. There was a 3 way tie for member who brought in most new mem-bers and we will award 25 dollars to each of those three. Susan Miles, Patty McCarty and Nancy Smith each introduced two ladies to the group. Let's all work hard again this next year and bring more women to our group. We have so much to offer them in regards to friend-ship, camaraderie, and special interest groups. As your outgoing Membership Chairperson, I would like to thank each and every member for her assistance with the drive. I apolo-gize in advance if I have inadvert-ently omitted anyone from the list. If so, please give me a call. Susie Volwiler [email protected]
