It All Started with the Congo

• In the 1860s,David Livingstone, a Scottish minister traveled into central Africa looking for the source of the Nile River

• Several years went by and there was no sign of Dr. Livingstone.

Henry Stanley• An American newspaper hired a British

reporter, Henry Stanley, to go search for Dr. Livingstone.

• In 1871, the minister was found living in the Congo.
