We have been busy getting the room around and updating a few things to keep things fresh and exciting! Thank you to Loren and Gail Green for fixing and repairing some items for our classroom and playground. As you know, our dear Miss Michele has taken a new job, we will miss her terribly but are excited to get to know and learn from our new assistant. We will help you get to know her too, soon. Miss Courtney is excited to have an updated curriculum for the four year olds this year. This is a condensed version of what will be available for the families that decide to go on to the Young 5's Program, known as Begindergarten next year. She has been teaching the Letter People Program for the four year olds and this year we were fortunate enough to get an upgrade. A special thanks goes out to the church for providing the funds to allow this to happen. The curricu- lum provides for a five day, three hour program, however we've only been able to use a portion of that because of our program hours. So regardless of not having a Begindergar- ten class this year, Miss Courtney is super excited to still be able to teach this program with so much new information to put into their little brains! Look for the Begindergarten class coming your way next year! It was great meeting all our families at our Open House. It was a fun night of nerves, questions, excitement and confidence. We are all looking forward to a great school year. As always, we thank all of you for keeping us in your prayers and joining us on our journey! Greetings in the name of Christ, August is all but spent, and the young people once again gather at their various institutions of learning. Lorelai had her interview with her preschool teacher this week, Jonathan has met some of his

classmates for preschool. Parents are driving their children off to their colleges and new outfits are being purchased for all ages in between. God is good and has much for us to learn and do. I am excited to get confirmation started this year. Our synod has re-leased an updated version of the explanation to the small catechism and I am delighted to have 3 students to try it out on this fall. I am also loving the Sun-day School curriculum for the Old Testament History course I am teaching on Sundays. I hope that you consider checking out one of the offerings on the 9th. Our new church council will be in full effect on the first of September. I want to encourage you to open your hearts to the wonderful things God has planned through them. Be patient as they learn, but don’t be afraid to reach out to them with ideas and concerns. We are all in this together. Blessings on your September, Pastor Aaron

Happy Retirement, Dr. Ed Lake! Ed Lake is retiring after 35 years of service at Community Health Center of Branch County and Pro-Medica Coldwater Regional Hospi-tal. He has delivered over 3,000 babies as an obstetrician-gynecologist in and around Branch County. Dr. Lake says he will miss his patients, some of whom he’s known for 30 years, and he will miss the excellent staff he’s worked with who have been a joy. Ed has been a member here at St. Paul since 1986 and lately attends the 11:30 worship, although you may have heard him read the les-

sons for the day at 9:00. The School Board will still enjoy his input as a member, for at least another year or two. Dr. Lake looks forward to reinvig-orating his golf game. It’s been about 5 years since he’s played, but should have some time now. He also is excited to visit his kids who all live on the west coast and go on a safari with them next year in South Africa. They have been on some wonderful trips together and he is sure there will be many more. Ed has a half share in a home at Glen Lake, near Traverse city and the Sleeping Bear Dunes. There’s already a week in September dedi-cated to relaxing on the lake.
