Ladies, look inside for registration and t-shirt information! Hope to see you there!

Sunday, OctOber 3

Join us in the morning service to learn how we can be involved in what God is doing around the world and then come back at 5:00pm to take part in this year’s Taste of Heaven. From 5:00-6:00pm, come and try a little taste of cuisine from around the world at our multi-cultural dinner. From 6:00-7:30 come and worship with believers from around the world. Enjoy music from many ethnic congregations in our area. We will also have a multi-lingual Lord’s Supper. Bring your whole family. What a way for your children to sample just a Taste of Heaven.

theCreekside Welcome Home to Brushy Creek

Please Pray for the team we are sending to India in just a few days. Finney Matthews, one of our mission

speakers from 2 years ago invited us to bring a team to India, for what I believe will be one of the greatest missionary

opportunities Brushy Creek has ever had. Finney is gathering 200 pastors from eastern India to come for a week of

training and inspiration. He had asked me to come but my recent surgery prevented that from being possible. In my

place, David kay and Jim russell will be teaching the pastors and our praise band will be leading worship. They also

plan to use the band to gather large crowds in two cities to help promote an upcoming Will Graham crusade (grandson

of Billy Graham). Dr. nuthalapaty will be leading a medical team that will minister to the pastors, local orphans and

villagers. angela Carter will be leading Backyard Bible clubs. others helping in various capacities will be Sabina Weaver,

Cindy Tegeler, karen Holtzwarth, Linda Scarborough, Mike Johnson, Luke Langner, Melissa Creasy, and Matthew and

Carla Carter. This will be a long, difficult trip, please pray for their safety as well as their effectiveness.

When Dale anD I serveD as mIssIonarIes In JaPan, we were given the assignment to plant a church in the new city of Higashi kawaguchi, near Tokyo. We had no core group to help us get started. But we did have one very helpful asset – English!

We began our church plant by offering English Conversation and Japanese Bible Study classes. Several came, at first, for the English, and then later for the Gospel. English proved to be a wonderful tool, serving as a vital entryway into the church.

now we are serving as missionaries to the Greenville area. and we have a number of language groups represented here also, many of which need to know the Lord. and we still have the same helpful asset of English.

This Fall, Brushy Creek will launch ESL: English as a Second Language. Classes will be offered during Greenhouse on Wednesday nights. ESL is part of our rescue Ministry, and is a great opportunity for us to minister to, and then reach for Christ, neighbors who need to learn English. as we often say, if we will minister to folks at the point of their understood need, we can earn the right to talk with them about their ultimate need – Jesus Christ.

We have a team of volunteers who will be teaching basic English skills at Beginner and Intermediate levels during each of the five sessions of Greenhouse. They will work side-by-side with our Hispanic Ministry.

and we also hope to reach folks of other languages.

Will you please be in prayer for our ESL Ministry? also, if you are interested in helping with ESL, please remember that you do not need to know any other language. For information on ESL, or on helping with it, you can contact yadira Estrada in our church.

I WoUlD lIke To Thank yoU for your support for Celebrate Recovery. Every Monday night we have the opportunity to share the gospel with new people God is sending to us. I teach the “new Comers” class each week, and love this because I get to spend an hour with new faces every Monday night. our heart is to see people come to know Christ personally. We believe that real recovery begins with surrendering our lives to Christ. If you or someone you know is struggling with life’s hurts, habits, or hang-ups please join us on Monday nights at 6:00pm. We also offer Life Hurts God Heals on Monday nights for our teens. For more information about this visit our website at brushycreek.org.

WoW, WhaT a sUmmer! Who would have guessed it would have flown by so fast. This summer has been filled with Bible studies, pool parties, service projects, and a couple pretty incredible camps. I would like to take a moment and just give you a recap of our many activities this summer:

June was filled with Bible studies at various homes, some of which also included pools, trampolines, yard games, and lots of food! It was exciting to dive into God’s Word and then enjoy fellowship with students afterward. God is good and what a blast it is to pour His goodness into the lives of our youth! at the end of June, we took a group of students to SeeSalt Summer Conference at Coastal Carolina university just outside of Myrtle Beach. This year we had a missions emphasis and our middle schoolers rose to the occasion as they blessed the lives of many elderly folks at kingston nursing Center. I challenge all of you to go to brushycreek.org to see pictures and the video our very own kitty Tripp put together for SeeSalt. July was filled with refuge Gives Back service projects all over Greenville. our projects included cleaning the facility at the Miracle Hill Boys Home, cleaning and organizing at Miracle Hill Thrift Store, spending time and building

relationships with the boys and girls of The Salvation army Boys and Girls Club, and passing out cold water bottles and gospel tracts to people in Downtown Greenville. needless to say, it is truly a blessing to show God’s love through serving people. never underestimate the ability of a middle school student when it comes to serving! Just when the summer seemed to be almost over, here comes Pastors’ Camp! This august we took 50 students to Look up Lodge for BaseCamp. The goal of this camp was to help students build a relationship with their upcoming Sunday school teachers, who were primarily all of our chap-erones, to have several hours on Saturday to spend with our pastors at BCBC, and of course to grow strong in the Lord. our theme for this year was Start Strong Stay Strong. Imagine if our students not only start the school year strong in Christ, but also finish strong. This is truly my prayer for our BCBC students this year. The school year will be filled with many opportunities to rescue, Grow, and Serve and all we need is for the kids to stay involved. Parents, please don’t miss this great opportunity for your kid to grow in Christ this school year. Sign up for The Greenhouse, join a Sunday school class, and be faithful in coming to our powerful worship services! Hope to see you soon. Thanks for the privilege of ministering to your kids.

ParenTs anD sTUDenTs, I hope you are as excited about The Greenhouse as I am. I want to take the opportunity to encourage you and your student to sit down and find a class that they find interesting. as a reminder, on Wednesday nights, all high school students are encouraged to find a class that interests them. I (almost) always teach a class for high school students only, but students do not have to come to my class. So, get your copy of the Greenhouse Course Guide and find a class where you can Grow.

Do yoU have Those evenTs In lIfe ThaT JUsT sTIck oUT to you as special and memo-rable? We all do, don’t we? I remember when my brother was born. I remember when I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins and take control of my life. I remember my baptism. I remember my first date, first kiss, first car, first day at Clemson, and my first overseas flight. I remember the first time I experienced culture shock and the first time I got to share Jesus with someone who had never heard of Him before. I remember Journey Through Bethlehem, Tom Flannigan videos, and Taste of Heaven. Do you remember Taste of Heaven? only about 400 of us do. Wow….it was one of the most meaningful services I have ever been a part of and I can’t wait to do it again. If you were there last year, I know that you are as excited as I am. If you missed it, don’t let it happen again. on october 3, we are going to get to experience a Taste of Heaven again. Please join us at 5:00pm for a multi-cultural dinner and then stay until 6 pm for our multi-lingual service. It will definitely go on your list of most memorable things!
