thansimplyaopenworldracerwithfluidsocialintegration.AllFullStockcarsyouacquirehave

uptoamaximumof5tuningspecsthatyoucancustomiseyourvehicletofitwithin.TheStreet

Spec,DirtSpec,PerformanceSpecandCircuitSpecareselfexplanatory,butthenyouvealso

gottheRaidSpec,whichfeaturesafullcrashcagechassis,upratedsuspensionandtransmission,

skidplates,offroadtiresandmore,allowingyoutodrivepracticallyanywherewithcompetence.

street racing scene.

Storymissionsfocusedontheplayersinfiltration,andeventualbustingofthe510s,tietogether

theentireexperience andprovide aplot forwhy theplayer charactermust traverse theU.S.,

starting intheMichigancapital,andendinginLosAngeles.Movingon,therewasonefinalstep

beforegettingoutontheopenroaddesignatingpointstoPerks.AnotherRPGesquesystem,

Perksenablebooststoamultitudeofdifferentaspectsinrespecttobothperformanceandrewards,

e.g.,nitrouslasting2secondslonger,or5%morecashearnedfromwinningraces.Finally,were

readytoventureontothestreetsofDetroitandbeyond.Charlyinviteseveryonetojoinhiscrew,

whichisaseasyaspressingYatthepromptandconfirmingwithA.Fromthispoint,heisforall

intentsandpurposes thehost,andwhateveractivityhemarkson themap,wearegiven the

choicetoacceptonourrespectivescreens.HavingplayedTheCrewpreviouslyatEBExpo2013,

itsclearaftermereminutesthatthecontrolshavesincebeentightenedupdramatically.Granted,

everycarhasauniquefeel,butregardlessofthatfact,theoverallaccuracyandrealism intheir

steering was lacking in that previous build.

InTheCrew,vehicleswillswervetododgeacrash,andifyoublocktheroad,theywillnotsimply

stopandwaitforyoutomove,orscrapeagainstawallingettingpasttheobstructionyouhave

caused.TheseA.I.citizensactuallycareabouttheirvehicles,rathermanoeuvringskillfullyinwhat

isthebest,safestwayaround.Theirreflexesarefast,almostasifanotherplayeriscontrollingthem;

itisextremelyimpressive.Pedestriansandanimalswillsimilarlyworktoevadeyourmetalmachine

of destruction, although this tech has been seen inmany games past and present. Racing in

multiplephysicalconditionsbrings theirownchallenges,but racingatnightalsoups theante,

requiringmorefocusanddeftness.Intechnicalrespects,theresnotmuchTheCrewdoesthatisnt

notable.WeproceededtomakeourwaydowntotheswampyBayou,beforespendingquiteabit

oftimeinsunnyMiami.Alongthejourney,wepartookinafewofthe500skillchallengesstrewn

throughout,comprisedof8kindsofskillgames,earningmedalsandlevellingupasweprogressed.

Theskillgamesbreakupa longdriveeffectivelyandcanbecomearealdistraction intheirown

right, being fun and varied.

Ifyougetcaughtupcompletingskillgames(asIdid)andyourcrewissickofwaitingforyouto

arriveataracelocation,youcanalwaystacklethemsoloatyourownleisure.Theresneverreally

any pressure to hurry, however,withmissions launchable from the invite overlay, and their

locationsable tobeusedas fast travelpoints.Speakingof, theonly issuepresent is the level

up/completionnoticeelementoftheU.I.,whichpopsupmidscreenwithoutpause,causingyou

to effectively drive blindly behind it;wewere assured thiswas a temporary implementation.

Althoughthereisplentycooperationtobehadwithevensomeskillgamesplayableintandem

PvPandFreeForAllmissionskeepthecompetitiveedgehighamongstfriends.TheCrewcould

revolutionisedrivinggamesforthefuture;itssocial/multiplayerfunctionalityisnonobtrusiveand

fluidtoanunprecedentedlevelforagameofthistype,itsscopeisclearlyunmatchedand,most

importantly,itisimmenselyfun.Wecanhardlywaitformoretimewiththetitle,andhopefora

solidreleasedatewithinQ3tobeannouncedshortly.
