What good is data if you don’t use it?
Data Use Case Study
• Us Census is used to distribute Federal funds to State and Local Governments based on the populations within the government jurisdiction.
• The amount is about $1500/person /year.
For many year Census has preformed the Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS)
• There are Years of compounded errors incorporated in these maps.
Boundary Quality and Resolution Project (BQARP)
• In preparation for the 2020 Census the US Census Bureau has instituted the (BQARP)
• To get a fresh start on the Census Municipal boundary Layer.

• The land records Management Program in the office of Secretary of State and
• the North Carolina Department of Transportation are working together to compile this data and make it available.
