In Memoriam
Pat Orr
“You can’t light a candle
to show others the way
Without feeling the warmth
of that bright little ray
And you can’t pluck a rose
all fragrant with dew
Without part of its fragrance
remaining with you.”
She taught with love
and gave hope to all.

Zeta Chapter
Community Projects
2015 - 2016
Zeta’s priority is local literacy projects. We participate in the BOO AT THE ZOO event in
October at the Knoxville Zoo in order to sign children up for the Imagination Library. We
volunteer as needed at projects of our Greater Knoxville Library system. In May we will
participate in the Children's Festival of Reading.
Several of our meetings are held at Trinity United Methodist Church. Our meals are prepared by
church members, who use the proceeds from the meals for their mission projects. All the
Knoxville chapters make additional donations for these mission projects.
In December we work with the Salvation Army by ringing bells at the collection buckets. This
organization provides Christmas gifts for the needy children in the Knoxville and surrounding
areas. This is also a wonderful time for our members to able to give to children.
Every January our chapter meets at Powell High School to complete a project for the community.
This year we will but together bags for the Ronald McDonald House. These bags will be
provided to each of the 16 rooms.
This year we are having Spotlight on an Educator. Each semester we will choose one sister who
is actively teaching and will bring materials to help in her class. The first semester we honored
Susan Martin. Her request was for materials to help with supplies for her marketing class.
Zeta sister Kaye Williams also volunteers at Chilhowee Elementary School.
Zeta sister Jody Mueller volunteers for Friends of Literacy

Grant that we may be steadfast in our purposes as
we endeavor to meet the responsibilities and
obligations set before us.
Help us to be truly loyal, one to another and may
we strive to become worthy members of our profession.
As we pledge anew our services to our noble
cause, may unity and cooperation continue
unbroken to the end.
Delta Kappa Gamma Pledge

DELTA KAPPA GAMMA SONG
Women teachers, to the calling
Firmly rally, never falling,
Duty ne’er upon us palling,
Staunch, courageous we!
Loyalty and trust e’er heeding,
Mindful of our sisters needing,
Aid and guidance from those leading,
Helpful may we be!
To Delta Kappa Gamma
Faith we pledge forever;
Hand in hand our loyal band,
Forward moving ever!
Onward! Tis our sisters need us,
Courage, Faith and Honor lead us!
Wrongs in truth and justice heed us!
Firmly shall we stand.
Guardians of the faith yet sleeping,
For our sisters watch e’er keeping,
Deeds of others now we’re reaping,
We for others stand!
To us pioneers have given;
We return their gifts to Heaven;
Work for others is the leaven
That inspires our band.
Oh, Delta Kappa Gamma
In thy fold we gather!
Unity and Liberty
Shall be our watchwords ever!
Education e’er we’ll further
Each is bound to each as brother;
With this faith in one another
We shall win, for aye!
