Marc Joseph is a local businessman in Palm Springs, owner of Secret Back Room, co-host of The Desert 411 Talks,

and co-producer of Cinema Fondue.

When we purchase a pair of pants from a local independent shop, made in the United States by a local small company, we put revenue in the hands of hard-working shop owners in our own neighborhood, nurturing and neighborhood, nurturing and supporting artists and manufacturing in our own backyard.

Where have our jobs gone, and who is responsible for this? It’s easy to blame faceless entities like government and big corporations. The world has become a global economy, with our buying decisions having impact on each other, and on others across the world.
