Stage 4 – Generating alternative solutions. This is where you and your team think of different types of designs that may help you to solve the problem.

Teams should try to develop a least three possible solutions to the problem.

Sketches of the prototypes should be made – never throw away a sketch!!!!!

Stage 5 – Choosing a solution. This is where you and your team must choose one design from your three possible solutions.

This is the design you will use to develop your prototype.

Later you will be using technical drawings based on your sketches.

The group’s decision may require revisiting the design brief to ensure that it reflects what you will be doing and may need in order to meet the needs of the client. Your presentation must include the following under the title “Choosing a Solution.” Rationale – Here you state specifically which design your group will make

and why you decided on that particular design.

Prototype Assessment Sheet –the group must use this sheet during the decision making process as a group you may decide on any solution you believe will achieve success. The design you choose is the design you will use to develop your animation and you must stay within the design layout no matter the outcome. This sheet can be scanned or created in a table using Word and then embedded in your presentation.

Storyboard – the group must initially develop their animation using a storyboard which will include important details concerning visuals, audio, and text. The storyboard segments should only include major changes in events, dialogue, and background sounds. The group may use the storyboard printable template or the “Kids’Vid” interactive storyboard creator.

The Challenge of Choosing a Solution Choosing a solution is not as easy as it might

seem. There can be potential conflicts amongst team members. For example, each person in a team might be biased toward their solution idea.

What can be done to effectively choose a single solution for development? Keep in mind that the best solution is not

necessarily the most complicated or fanciest looking.
