“It all started wIth the Idea for that shower,” says Paul, the owner of this one-of-a-kind bathroom. As a builder, Paul supervised every detail of its construction with passionate dedication, the see-through shower being the star attraction. He designed the shower stands and grate himself, with sleek looks that elevate them from simple necessities to absolute show-stoppers.

The other head-turning element in this bathroom is the unique faux-timber tiles. “They really do look like floorboards!” he adds. “They’re also a matte tile, so they’re non-slip.” A floating vanity with a crisp Caesarstone benchtop, sculptural freestanding bath and angular tapware keep things modern. The chocolate-coloured cabinetry, however, was a source of some initial hesitation: “I wasn’t sure right away, but the more I live with it, the more I’ve come to like it,” Paul says. >
