It’s been a long time since Harry Potter was first released. A new generation exists now. The last book in the series was published

three years ago in 2007, and this year, Part one of the final movie will be released, with part two releasing next year. And after that, the series could die out. So now, we get the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park. Something that can stop the death of the series, and continue the interest to the next generation. The park is a little recreation of Hogwarts and it's surroundings, including Hogsmeade village. Nothing good just happens really fast.It takes time.It takes effort.

And it takes a good staff all willing to write.First issues can be one of the most difficult things to do. After all, it's the first, and people don't have as much experience. When thinking about starting a newspaper, I had doubts. A lot of them. Would it be good? Who can write for it? What will we make it about? And the doubts went on and on.And then one day, on the Diagon Alley chatroom, two forum members put forth the idea of a newspaper. And then I realized, that it's possible to do it. Why? I realized that other's wanted to write for a newspaper too, and produce one for the site. Then, a few deadlines, few weeks, and a few InDesign tutorials later, we got this result. Of course, it wasn't easy. But it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. The main problem in the paper was my doubt about how we can blend Harry Potter and Pokemon together. And then I thought, why should there be a doubt? Just treat the paper like it's a newspaper in a world where only Harry Potter and Pokemon exist. Then there's no doubt about blending the two in. It'll just be like any other newspaper, that has news on different subjects, all in one paper.Never think that something's going to be very difficult when you've never done it before. The results can surprise you. And now, I have the finished result. And I like it.

In Brief

Deathly Hallows Lost ScriptBy Jake Sullivan

Do you wish you were in an English Pub?

No?Well, I think you’re about to wish that.Apparently, a member of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie crew left the whole script to the movie in a boozer in Kings Langley, Herts. And no, you're not going to get it just by going to the pub now. A patron found the script and returned it to the Sun, a UK newspaper, which gave it

Apparently, it was a crewmember, because the person who found it says that he saw a big group of crewmembers there. Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who plays Harry Potter, is usually at that pub with the crewmembers, but wasn't there that night. Let’s just hope this time, the script stays safe.

back to Warner Brothers. Disappointed that the Sun didn't publish the script? Yeah, me too. But it’s better. It’s better to keep the movie a secret. What is really surprising is that the Sun says that they will not reveal anything, but say that the script is altered. Now, why would they look at the script? Well, more on the script. It reveals where the split occurs, reports the Sun.

New Harry Potter Book in 10 years

By Rohan Prakash

“Yes, I do,” said J.K. Rowling. And no, that’s not for a wedding.Rowling spoke to the Washington

Post during the annual Easter Egg roll at the White House. The event was full of children, and they could ask the famous author questions. One question was if she would write more Harry Potter books in the future. And then she said, “Yes, I do, and I am. I'm quite sure in the not-too-distant future I will bring out another book.»The series will probably be revisited in “10 years from now,” depending on how she feels.

German Scientists make an Invisibility CloakBy Jake Sullivan

Wouldn’t you want to be invisible?

And visit the Restricted Section? And just be able to say that you own an Invisibility Cloak?German scientists have invented a new way to make things invisible. This one is different because it actually makes the object vanish from every angle, and in 3D unlike earlier attempts that only worked when viewing at one particular angle, and worked only in 2D.

The cloak was tested on a tiny lump of gold, which was 0.00004 inches high by 0.00005 inches wide. The cloak was made up of crystals with air spaces in between that resembled a pile of wood and bent light to hide the gold underneath. We’re still far away from making life size cloaks, and the early ones are probably going to be very rigid. With the knowledge we currently have, it’s not very possible, but it could become possible in ten

years or more. Until then, you just need to keep waiting.

wean you into the Pokemon franchise as well as all the other Pokemon games do. Albeit, it does get tiring for the more experienced players to watch how a person catches a Pokemon, but it is still useful, nevertheless.

The whole gaming engine is the same as Pokemon Platinum's, including the interface and a lot of the moves. Heart Gold and Soul Silver have also added new moves to the roster of old Pokemon, making them more useful in battles, in most cases.

One thing the separates it from it's original version is the female character. Gold and Silver didn't have a female character, but after Crystal, female characters were always in the games. And so, in the remakes, a new character, Lyra (Kotone in the Japanese version), who stars along with the male character, Ethan (Gold in the Japanese version).

A major change in this game is the addition of a lot of touch-screen capabilities. The Pokedex now works with stylus control, and is totally revamped. You don't need to hold down the «B» button anymore to run. Instead, you can just press the button on your bottom screen that has a picture of running shoes once, and you'll be running till you press the button again. There is also an «A» button on the bottom screen along with a «Y.» If you don't like using the buttons, then this will be good for you.

The games also have a very good 3D animation of Lugia and Ho-Oh being summoned to battle you. In fact, everything you look at in this game is very good. Nothing seems rushed. It's like Nintendo's been working on this for a long time.

New features in this game include a Safari Zone, which in the originals was always closed down. A good feature implemented in this Safari Zone is that you can actually change the location of the different sections of the park so that it's easier for you to get to the area that contains the Pokemon you want to catch.

The Battle Frontier is back. With one problem. It's the same one as Platinum's. Yeah, so that's a little disappointing, but on the bright side, it can connect with Platinum to battle in it.

And then there's nostalgia. Remember Pokemon Yellow? Where Pikachu would follow you? That's back too. But this time, it's any Pokemon, not just Pikachu. The first Pokemon in your party follows you around, so yes, you can get your Ho-oh or Lugia or some other rare legendary Pokemon to follow you while you walk the streets of Johto and Kanto (You'd think people would be scared of you if you had a legendary Pokemon follow you, but they just stay the same...maybe they think it's a Ditto?)

A fun feature is the Pokeathelon, located north of Goldenrod City. Here, Pokemon can compete in athletic activites such as races, a capture the flag-like game, and much more. It's a replacement to the Pokemon contests, and in my opinion, it's much better. No more worrying about if you're Pokemon is cool, smart, beautiful or something else. Now, you just use their athletic abilities, just as if they were real, or at least as if it was the anime, and participate in fun games.

For those who say video games make a person a couch potato, think again. Nintendo includes a small Pokeball-shaped device called a Pokewalker with the games. This little device is a pedometer. You can transfer a Pokemon from your game into this device and walk around. The more steps you take, the more experience your Pokemon gets, and you can level up. Also, you can run courses in this game and battle Pokemon and catch them, and then import them back into your game in the end. You can literally keep a Pokemon in a Pokeball in your pocket now.

The main problem with this is that it's a remake. Nothing original. But still, it adds to the original with a lot of new features, and that's what makes the game unique. Nintendo had a lot of work to live up to the expectations of many fans in a remake of the classic 2nd generation games, and I think they did it. The graphics are good, the storyline nostalgic and just about everything else is fantastic.

Newbie to PokemonBy Mary Smith

The One where Professor Oak doesn’t know what I am

I've never played Pokemon before.

Really.

But now I'm going to be playing Pokemon Soul Silver.

So I turn my DSi on, and touch the blue Pokeball, and I begin!

Hm...nice music, nice animation for the intro. But Lugia looks odd. The first time I saw it, I thought «What the heck is an odd blue and white bird doing flying through water?»

But then again, I saw the beasts and stuff, so yeah, not that odd.

So, now I see this old man talking to me. So this is the famous Professor Oak. One thing that's really odd is the button I press on the screen. It says «A touch.» Now, if I was really immature, I would laugh so much at that, but no.

And then...WOW! Professor Oak is talking to me...and yet...he has no clue what gender I am. Now, if the guy's talking to me with me standing in front of him...he should know that I'm a girl. Nintendo could atleast make this part a phone call or something, some way where he doesn't know what gender you are.

That aside, I start my adventure in the Pokemon world. And what the heck am I wearing? A huge white hat? Okay...

When I finally get to choose a Pokemon, I choose Cyndaquil, because it looked cute. Yes, I think some Pokemon are cute.

After some more random talking to people, I head out onto the route to the west of the town. And there, I have my first ever Pokemon battle. Against a Rattata. And I won!

So anyway, I'm going to Cherrygrove Town now, and I get lectured by an old man about the different buildings in town, like the Pokemon Center and Pokemart. After the talking and receiving the running shoes, I head towards Mr. Pokemon's House, and there, I see Professor Oak again. At least now he knows that I'm a girl. Well, I get some Mystery Egg and get back to New Bark town, but then I run into my rival. And I beat the little blue crocodile thing Totodile is with my awesome Cyndaquil who is now level 8 and I return to New Bark town.

I think that was a pretty productive first part. I think I'm going to like Pokemon. Or at least, point out all the odd parts in it. Well, till next time.

Harry Potter Exhibit goes to OntarioBy Laura McCallisterGo to Ontario. Why?The Harry Potter Exhibition is there. In the Ontario Science Centre. And James and Oliver Phelps were there too. Don't know who they are? They're the Weasley twins! The exhibition includes different props and costumes from the movies. It's a much bigger version of the Harry Potter prop house in the Universal Studios, Los Angeles, CA. “The Science Centre seeks out temporary exhibitions that will appeal to our traditional audience and attract new visitors who may never have visited a science centre,” said Lesley Lewis, CEO, Ontario Science Centre in the press release. “Harry Potter: The Exhibition holds just such crossover appeal. Celebrity Apprentice and Harry Potter

By Shreyas Radhakrishna

On the fourth episode of the new season of Donald Trumps' Celebrity Apprentice, the teams

had to create a 3 dimensional display on the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park opening in Orlando. It was still men versus women, with Rod Blagojevich, former governor of Illinois as the men's project manager and Selita Ebanks, Victoria Secret model as the women's project manager. The project managers were separated from their team and had to communicate by phone and email while they were in Orlando getting information for the task. Blagojevich showed ineptitude in using technology, and so the communication in the men's team was bad. The teams then had to present their displays to a group of children and Universal Studio executives.

The lady's group had accurate information, gave a good example of the theme park, but they were boring. As for the men's group were interesting, had amazing art work and props, but their facts were off.

In the end, the lady's team won. Donald Trump fired Rod Blagojevich.

RULER OF ILLUSIONSBy Rohan Prakash

Ah! The transition movie. The Ruler of Illusions: Zoroark, (or Phantom Ruler: Zoroark). Why transition movie? It’s the movie that bridges two generations. The one that reveals one or more Pokemon from the next generation. In this case, it's Zoroark and Zorua.

Celebi sees a future where the three legendary beasts, Suicune, Raikou and Entei are fighting, and wants to stop it. Meanwhile, Ash,

Dawn, and Brock arrive in Crown City to watch the Pokemon Backer World Cup. The city is soon attacked by the legendary beasts, who are actually illusions created by a Pokemon Zoroark, who also creates a shadow Ash Ketchum.

Seems fun.

Hopefully, it stays good. It will release in Japanese theatres on July 10, 2010.

Return to Simple ColorsIt’s a Newspaper again! Pokemon Black and White are the released titles of the 5th generation games.

Black. White. Just like a newspaper.

And they're simpler colors.

The titles of the upcoming 5th generation Pokemon games that include two dark Pokemon that have been revealed already- Zorua and Zoroark that are going to appear in the next movie, just like other next generation Pokemon have been revealed in films that air before their release.

Latias and Latios, Munchlax, Bonsly and Mime Jr. come to mind. Ah, the tradition continues.

The titles seem to have also caused some people calling the titles racist. There doesn't seem to be a connotation to either name that it applies to a race. However, this could be tricky, especially in sensitive areas, if some person judges the White version to be better than the Black versions in their opinion. Let's hope Nintendo has a back up plan if that happens.

Not much information is known about the games yet. More

information will release on Pokemon Sunday, Coro Coro magazine and the Pokemon Japanese website.

The Breeding ColumnThere’s one in the Sevii Islands. Another near Mauville City. One more near Goldenrod. And one in Solaceon Town. Know what I’m talking about? Yeah, the Daycare. To the first-time Pokemon player, it’s a place to keep your Pokemon to level up. But when they put in two Pokemon, sometimes they can be surprised when they receive an egg. It’s because the Daycare isn’t just a daycare. It’s also a breeding center. And breeding is pretty important in competitive battling. But why should you care? Well there are these hidden values for Pokemon called IVs that are randomly selected when you first see the Pokemon. And no, they’ve got nothing to do with IV machines or the Ivy League or poison ivy. No, this one is a stat ranging from 0 to 31 that adds on to Pokemon stats. Suppose you took two of the same Pokemon, and EV trained them the same way, they might still end up having different stats. That’s because of their IV. So how do you check the IVs? Simple.

Find an IV calculator online, such as the one on Veekun or MetalKid’s calculator. Have your Pokemon at a decently high level. The higher the level, the more accurate the results are. Plug in your stats, and you’re ready to go. Sure, you can calculate them now. And you know what they are. But you still don’t know why breeding relates to this right? It’s like genetics. The IVs are sort of like Pokemon genes. They pass down from parent to egg. So if you have good IV’d parents, when you breed them, you get good IV’d babies. It’s better than trying to base the WHOLE thing on luck and try catching them with good IVs. Here’s how it works. First, the egg gets random IVs. Then one random IV is inherited from one parent. Then another random IV that’s not HP gets inherited. Finally, one random IV that’s not HP or defense is inherited. Now these IVs can overlap. For example, all three might just go to your Attack IV leaving the rest of your IVs random. But still, breeding improves your chances of good IV’d babies. IVs may not be Ivy League colleges, but good IVs could make your Pokemon babies good enough to be accepted to one.

DEATHLY HALLOWS FILMING ENDING

“One day – in about four or five months from now – I’m gonna walk in here for the last time.” “It will be very sad when it comes to a finish. But it’s something you have to accept. We’ve had a few people finish off their stories in the film, and they’ve been going home.”-Daniel Radcliffe “We have been through a lot

together. That goes for all the cast. We are a close fam-ily. It is a great atmosphere on set. It will be weird when we’re saying goodbye to each other.”

“It’ll be strange saying goodbye. I’ve loved every minute of Harry Potter. Yes, it’ll be quite sad to see it go.”

-Rupert Grint

“I expect I’ll have to talk a lot about The Kiss. We did it two weeks ago. Four takes one way, and two takes with the camera in the other direction. Six takes altogether.”

“I admire her [Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange)] so much, she is so confident in herself, so happy.”

PART ONE RELEASING 19 NOVEMBER 2010

PART TWO RELEASING 15 JULY 2011

By Jake Sullivan

Page 4: The Diagon Alley Tribune Issue 1

The FUTURE of Harry PotterThe last Harry Potter book was released in 2007. It’s 2010 now. And Bloomsbury’s profits have dropped without a book being released. So, now they are re-releasing the books under a new cover. A bit too soon, but they've got to do what they have to do for money. A problem that might arise from this is a strong reliance on the Harry Potter series, and they can't just keep re-releasing books again and again and again.

Well, they could.

Just wouldn't be very interesting.

But what's important in what they're doing is that they're making the next generation know about and read Harry Potter. Something very important to do, since the series is really good. And I don't think any school's going to keep it alive by making it part of the curriculum.

The Dragon Challenge ride is an intense roller coaster ride, while the Flight of the Hippogriff is a more calm ride for younger visitors.

Perhaps one of the biggest features of the park is the Forbidden Journey ride which takes you through Hogwarts to visit various rooms fans will remember either from the books or the movies. You visit a portrait gallery with portraits of the four founders of Hogwarts, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin, who interact with visitors. You can see the greenhouses as well. Dumbledore's office will be particularly interesting, with all the odd things he keeps in his office. You start the tour in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom in which, for some reason, Professor Binn's is there to lecture. But then Harry, Ron and Hermione come out from under an Invisibility Cloak and tell the audience that the tour will be boring, and take them to the Quidditch Pitch.

Hogsmeade Village contains the famous Ollivander's Shop for wands, where visitors can buy a wand. The Three Broomsticks and Hog's Head will be there. Hog's Head will be more of an adult pub like place, while the Three Broomsticks will be more family-friendly. Both will serve Butterbeer, with an alcoholic version available in the Hog's Head. The menu has been created by head chef Stephen Jayson to be as authentically English as possible. He was able to present a very annotated

stack of Harry Potter books in which he's taken foods from to make. Also, the menu has been kept healthy, with servings of salad, roaster vegetables, potatoes, and corn on the side of almost every dish.

Also in Hogsmeade will be Honeydukes, the sweets shop. Some treats available there are chocolate cauldrons, pumpkin cakes, rock cakes, treacle fudge and scones.

Dervish and Banges will sell Quidditch accessories, Hogwarts apparel, and other Harry Potter merchandise like journals, and stationery items.

At the Owl Post, you can send postcards and letters with official Hogsmeade stamps. You can also buy Harry Potter stamps, owl mechandise, writing implements, and other stationery.

Probably, the most popular shop there will be Zonko's Joke Shop, where you can buy prank items mentioned by the Weasley twins in the books, such as

Extendable Ears, «U No Poo» t-shirts, and a lot of other items.

Overall, the park will be able to entice the next generation to read the books, and remind people who have already read the books about the magic of Harry Potter and will be nostlagic.

Opening to a New Audience

Continued from Page 1

Well, in America, Scholastic is trying to appeal to the next generation also. But not by new covers. By a new website. The new Scholastic website has quizzes for every book to test Harry Potter knowledge, that can probably get new readers interested in it.

Also, they released a book trailer that has silhouettes of some people in the book showing an iconic scene in the book. However, it doesn't seem to really show what Harry Potter is really about. The commercial makes it look like a book for really young kids.

This might make Harry Potter continue on to the next generation.

But with all of this, the future of Harry Potter seems good. There's re-releasing of books, a new ad campaign and in the not-so-distant future, another Harry Potter book.

Take the LeadBy Shreyas RadhakrishnaThe First move in a game. The strategy you set-up. It is all in the begining. Suicide and sweeping leads. What is a lead? A lead is a Pokemon that starts the game! Suicide and Sweeping leads are probably the most common leads used in the metagame. Aerodactyl @ Focus SashJolly (+Spe, -SpA)Pressure252 Atk / 252 Spe

Stone Edge Stealth Rock

Taunt Earthquake

By far the most common lead used these days are suicide leads. These pokemon are fast, but have weak defense and special defense. These type of pokemon carry a focus sash to set up and usually use the move taunt to avoid set up from slower leads. Although half of their moves are taken up, these pokemon have 2 strong moves that can hit hard and do massive damage. Used correctly and properly these leads can usually take out a couple of pokemon. The best example of these pokemon is Aerodactyl. With a base 130 speed, Aerodactyl can easily out speed most poke-mon in the standard metagame. Carrying Earthquake and Stone Edge, Aerodactyls are not a force to be messed with. Like always, every single pokemon have a counter an easy counter to this pokemon is a physically defensive steel type that know Gyro Ball. I prefer using a Bronzong against suicide leads because Bronzong can take any hit that is thrown at it. With a single weakness for fire, a Gyro Ball will do mas-sive damage and take Aerodactyl down. You can basically tell what these leads are suppose to do. They Taunt and start hitting your opponents with all the have. Usually a common counter to these leads are slow, defensive that can use gyro ball. A gyro ball is probably going to 2HKO these leads because of their focus sash. These leads are easy to take down, but hard to hit due to their massive speed stat.Sweeper leads are used many times to take down their opponent quickly. These are probably the most effective when it comes to taking down your opponents quickly. These leads would be useless unless you have a supporting tank in your party. These leads can counter set-up leads posting a huge threat to your opponent. If you are ever going to be using a sweeper lead, I would highly prefer a pokemon that can get out of the battle field quickly and effectively (pokemon that carry U-Turn). U-Turn is an amazing move to take a quick glance at your opponent’s item before you send in an appropri-ate counter. These leads usually hold Life Orb, Choice items, or Focus Sash to set-up Dragon Dance or a Speed Boost. Salamence is a great example for a sweeping lead. Salamence can hit hard as well as set up some dragon dances to take down your opponent quickly.

Salamence @ Choice Specs.Modest (+SpA, -Atk)Intimidate252 SpA / 252 Spe/ 4 HP

Draco Meteor Fire Blast

Dragon Pulse Hydro Pump

Amazing special stat. With the Choice Specs and a base 110 special attack, Salamence can easily dent or destroy any lead that comes out. With Fire Blast any lead that is weak to Fire, will be dented hard. A standard Bronzong will be hanging on with about 25% of it’s health after the Leftovers recovery! Draco Meteor can easily take down almost any pokemon that dares to switch in. Dragon Pulse is a good stab move you may want to use instead of wasting special attack strength or PP of Draco Meteor. Hydro Pump can take down Hippowdon leads and do half dam-age to Tyranitar in Sand Storm. And Salamence will be tough to take down using physical attacks after an intimidate! A sweeping lead can dent your opponent hard, so that your late game sweeper can take down your opponent later in the game. These pokemon have a simple counter. Defensive Pokemon that is able to defend against all of the lead’s attacks. In this case, a fast yet strong pokemon would do. Starmie is the best counter for Dragonites and Salamence sweeping leads.

Pokemon Feature: CHARIZARDBy Shravan Radhakrishna

Have you ever thought of using that amazing dragon like Pokemon, Charizard? The final evolution of the Charmander that you obtain from Professor Oak in your own competitive team? Most of it’s strengths are in its attacking capabilities. It attacks from a Physical and a Special perspective, so you are not restricted on the variety of moves it learns. This creature learns several moves from both sides of the attacking spectrum, so it can do a lot of damage in two ways.

Charizard@Salac berryAdamant (+Atk, -Sp.Atk)Blaze252 Atk/252 Spd/6 HP

Fire Punch Belly Drum

Subsitute Earthquake

The point of this Charizard is to come in on something that it scares, and then when you predict the opponent swapping their Poke-mon, you use Substitute. Now that they would have switched and you have a Sub. On that turn you can setup your Belly Drum while your opponent tries to attack and breaks your sub. Now our HP should be ~25%, around which your Salac

Berry activates, so you are now at +1 Speed, and +6 attack. If executed properly, you’ve pretty much won the game. This Chariz-ard can hit everything and seeing as it has a +6 attack stat, it should be able to kill anything it comes across, and ultimately annihilating your opponent’s team. However, this strategy isn’t com-

pletely flawless. If a priority move comes in, you’re dead. With 25% of your HP left, you will be killed if a Pokemon manages to outspeed the Chariz-ard. It will help to fit Roost in this set somewhere, but if you do, you will take out the vital moves to this crazy set.

Air Slash Focus Blast

The Specs Zard

This set is amazing, and I run it, so I would suggest this to many other people. This Charizard is the complete opposite of the BellyZard. It doesn’t require much setup, but it is the type of set for which you have to think a lot and hope that you will have luck. My first suggestion for the nature is to use Timid, seeing as Timid is going to increase the speed, and a 317 Special attack stat at the mx is already high, along with the specs to power is up even further. This can wreck havoc on numbers of teams, along with Stealth Rock damage on the opponent, Fire Blast can OHKO pretty much anything, even if they are water types, it can do over 50% dam-age. At some point in the game

your opponent might try to kill this Charizard, and if they fail and leave you at 25% of HP or lower, they will feel the sting of Charizard’s maximum power, a Fire Blast, a power-ful fire attack, combined with STAB, Choice Specs boosts, and the Blaze power boosts, will annihilate almost anything that comes in it’s way. The other moves are just there for more coverage, and Air Slash get’s the STAB bonus too, seeing as Charizard is a Flying type. The Hidden Power type is com-pletely your choice, it would really depend on what other Pokemon are in your team and what they can cover, to decide which one is best. Focus blast is to knock out those pesky Tyranitars that decide to com-pletely wall Charizard with their Sandstorm boosts. The Air Slash also takes out the Mach-

amps that can completely wall Charizard. The Hidden Power Electric fries Gyarados’ and many other water types. Hid-den Power Grass destroys the Swamperts and Whiscashes, and all of the other water types except Gyarados. This can play really well in OU just as well as it can in UU.As you can See Charizard can be used in not only UU, but it also works extremely well in the OU environment, both of these sets are amazing in the OU. They can take out many of the greatest threats in OU, and they work amazingly in UU. The power ups and the diversity of the moves that it can learn helps it to take out many of the opponent Pokemon.

The Fall of a GameBy Laura McCallisterThe fall of fan developed games.Nintendo’s started one destruction. An open source MMORPG called Pokenet was shut down by Nintendo, said they were using Nintendo trademarks sans authorisation. The domain name pokedev.org had to be given up and they had to shut down their website. Now all that remains are the videos on Youtube and other video sharing sites. The game was nearing the end of the beta stage called Valiant Venonat, and was running well online when the shut down occurred. More than 7000 people played the game. You could visit Kanto and Johto in the game with other regions coming soon, and pretty much do everything you could do in a regular Pokemon game: catch, trade, evolve and battle. The cease and desist notice was issued in late March. The shut down was postponed for a bit, but the official shut down was

done on April Fools day. With all the Pokemon MMORPG’s out there, why did Nintendo pick this one?Speculation suggests that it's because the program is open-source, so they've been handing out source code.

Characterization.

That's what this chapter is about.

Setting the scene.

You have the Dursleys introduced in the first line of the series, and in the first two pages, you know so much about it. They don't seem very likable, and they seem to be a little too prim and proper, and snobbish. And it's very true.

There's a little thing about how love can be based on personalities here. Mr. Dursley is a big man with no neck while Mrs. Dursley is small, but has a long neck. They compliment each other. And they have similar personalities, which is what ties them together. By subtle hints and descriptions of their activities, you can figure this out.

And there's foreshadowing. The first paragraph says that they like things to be normal. And so, you know something's going to change that. You need some conflict in there, and since this was right at the beginning, you would think that it's important.

J.K. Rowling uses the word «unDursleyish.» Not that important at first. But then, you see something more. By making a word like that, it sets up a characteristic that the Dursleys are always going to be like. Otherwise, it's not that important to make a word for them.

Then there's the «dull, gray Tuesday,» which by the weather tells that things are bad. Even though later it says that nothing about it could be bad. It's more like she's trying to throw us off the trail.

There's one single one-sentence paragraph on the second page, about an owl flying past them. The fact that it's left their alone gives it some emphasis. And of course, it should have some. It's the first thing we read about oddness in their world. And owls are very prominent in the series as well, which makes sense to why she chose to use an owl as the first sign of weirdness.

This chapter lays down a lot of emphasis on developing character. You know Vernon Dursley. You know Petunia Dursley. But yet, you don't know a lot about Albus Dumbledore or Minerva McGonagall or Harry Potter or Lord Voldemort.

There's mystery surrounding them.

In the daytime, everything is clear. And the Muggle world carries on it's business. But at night, it's more mysterious. More secretive. More magical. We soon learn that the Dursleys' nephew, Harry will be given to them to take care of, after his parents were killed by a dark wizard.

There's so much buzz about Harry Potter. All the owls, shooting stars, and wizards roaming around in wizard clothing. But we don't know why it's so important. It keeps the mystery still around, forcing us to wait to know more. Since Harry knows nothing, we know nothing either. We continue to learn as Harry does (albeit we did know that he was a wizard before he knew).

And then there's a seemingly innocent statement Hagrid makes, when he says that Sirius Black gave him the motorcycle. Now, we have no idea what it means. But later, when we find out who Sirius Black is, and then who the real Sirius Black is, this makes more sense.

Basically, there's a lot of base structure set up in this chapter that later chapters and books will continually go back to somehow.

3D GamesBy Rohan Prakash

How would you like to play Pokemon in 3D? Well, Nintendo is going to be releasing a new handheld console that displays 3D, without the need of 3D glasses.

The console will use a sensor to track the movements of the console, most likely the cameras. It's called the Nintendo 3DS, and although it has the letters «DS» in it, it's probably the first in a new generation of consoles, rather than part of the DS line. It will be backwards compatible with all DS games, however.

So, how's it going to display 3D? Well the answer might lie in a Japanese-only DSiWare game called 3D Hidden Picture, that actually shows 3D images using the camera to track movements, and it adjusts the picture accordingly.

Japanese Industry News website Nekkei.com

says that Nintendo is going to include a 3D joystick and a force feedback system. Also, an accelerometer might be included for tilt control and other features.

Some companies in Japan were given development kits for this new console, and guess what? The Pokemon Company was given special priority. Hopefully, that means that games after Pokemon Black and White are to be released on the 3DS.

More details about the console will be announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
