MARCH 2014
Greetings to all of you who are looking for the first Robin to appear as an indicationthat spring is coming. The birds are much wiser than that as they are down where itis warm and have no intention of coming up here anytime soon! We may have dockdays with ice cubes floating in the harbor….I would rather have them in my drink!Patience is rewarding however. The Commodore’s Ball has been set for April 26th so dust off your dancing shoes andother ball regalia and get ready to have another great time at GBYC!Scott Conrad has a number of cool events coming up for the next several weeks sowatch for the notices around the club for details. We (the board) are aware of many rumors going around the club that we are going tolet Todd go, shut down the kitchen and the bar as we are losing money. I need todispel those rumors now! We are not and have no intentions of shutting down thekitchen, bar, and even think of letting Todd go. The persons responsible for theserumors are shallow thinkers with an apparent personal agenda, by trying to incite themembers who will listen to their garbage. I also believe they would like to see thisboard of directors fail.Do not allow yourselves to believe any of this. If you want the truth about the kitchenor bar areas contact me or Kris Johnson.
Sincerely,Jerry

As we all shiver through another Wisconsin winter, everyday we get 1 day closer to the 2014 Boating Season ! Wehave had a few problems with our gate at the club. We arelooking into that to avert any future mishaps. In the meantime, please call me or leave a note at the bar if you haveany problems so no permanent damage is caused by itrunning improperly.
Some talk of adding a pair of coin-op washer & dryers &possibly a small lounge area. This would be a nice additionto our club ! We would really like feedback on this idea andas always friendly volunteers ! We will be putting a board upto let members know what projects are available to help gettheir yearly requirement of hours in.
Jumping to the future please keep May 17th (tentatively)in mind. We are putting a Safety Day together with the helpof Linda Nies at Vorphal & Chris Heil with the GB Fire Dept.Someone will be available to check extinguishers & othersafety equipment. There will be fire extinguisher &AED demonstration along with hands on CPR refreshers ona dummy! (still looking for a volunteer) Keep checking forupdates. So til next time, stay warm & keep thinking Spring!
Just a few reminders. If you want a dock you must summita dock application by March 1. Docks will be assigned earlyMarch. Don't forget to unplug your boats when leaving clubproperty. I don't enjoy stumbling through three feet of snowto unplug boats. A salesman from US Lamp stopped at theclub to take a look around and get some ideas for lighting ofthe parking lot and harbor. He will get back to us withestimates of ideas in few weeks.
See you at the club.
Spring is just around the corner. Soon we will be able to enjoythat cold beverage or grilled food outside. Until then, the GBYCstill needs your support. Come on down and enjoy some ofSuper Todd’s Specials.Tuesday: Buck BurgersThursday: Mexican Night/Italian NightFriday: Friday FishIf anyone is looking for hours. You are always welcome to askthe Bartenders for the pad and take orders. Remember! Toddcan get your food out quicker if he has a little help delivering itas well.I will be taking on the "March Smoker" with a little help from myfriends. Seafood or Chicken Alfredo. Homemade fettuccinenoodles and sauce. PLEASE!! Make sure to clarify your choiceof chicken or seafood on signup sheet. Also....since we aregetting closer to boating season. We will be having fun eventsfor our boating needs. Life jackets, fenders, flares, lines are afew things on the list.Hope to see you there!

Hello everybody. Just wanted to let you know that we will be cleaning outthe attic sometime in late March or early April. If you have anything upthere that is "yours" and you want to keep it, please get it out. Otherwise, everything up there will be considered donated to the yacht club and han-dled that way. We are planning on selling, donating or disposing of itemsthat are not being used or have not been used in quite some time.
I do have a few people lined up to help. If you are interested in being partof this group, please e-mail me at [email protected] or call 373-3025and I will be sure to contact you with the exact date.

Bleak cold February leads to just as cold a start on March. Letshope the Ides of March are a little warmer. Looking at hours forgas attendant. Thursday night, Saturday and Sunday morning. Can add different hours depending on what is needed. Thendoing some odd jobs around the yard. Refill ice coolers, help outwith weeding and mowing.Just getting back from vacation, so it will take a little to getcaught up. Already getting worried how long the ice will stickaround. I am sure it will be too long no matter what.
