Dear Reader:

As our school year is winding down to an ending that will release our 8th grade students to high school, The Dragon is here with our penultimate issue for this year. Like our previous issues, our reporters’ work spans a variety of genres. We have everything from a popular music survey to installments of previously running columns like Animal Style and Madame F. In our Dragon journalism club, we encourage expression of anything that comes to mind through writing, and in lesser degrees, art and photography (which are included in every issue). In our weekly meetings, we throw up a list of ideas onto the 5th grade classroom whiteboard, and we come up to claim them or to add new ideas. There is no agenda of things that need to be written- there is never an article that needs to be written for a particular issue. To some people, our magazine may seem like a jumble of miscellaneous, sometimes frivolous, pieces of writing. But to me, each sequence of pages that rolls off the printer represents the interests, ideas, and the thoughts of the members of a community.

As you flip through the pages of our magazine, or scroll down on your computer to reveal each successive article, I hope for you to keep this idea of expression in your mind. Enjoy the second issue of The Dragon!

By Oliver Chessen Hey there middle school readers! Have you ever seen a woman walk by you in the hallway with a walkie-talkie and a British accent to whom everyone says, “Hi, Ms. Kelly!” Well, she’s Ms. Kelly, of course. I am sure you have always wondered what she does here at cais so I did a behind the scenes interview with her. Here’s how it went down.Q: What is your job at CAIS?A: My job at CAIS is the assistant to the director of mid-dle school, and I also try and help out and assist middle school faculty when I can.Q: What are your favorite and least favorite parts of the job?A: My favorite part of the job is that I am working with a great team. I also love working with Mrs. Larose, she’s awesome. I also like working in a school because I was training to be a teacher twelve years ago and I like the school environment. The only thing I would say that I don’t like is that I don’t get to go to recess.Q: What does it feel like being Btritish and working at a very Asian school? A: At first it was very different because I had worked just at an American business, where as working at an American school that integrates Chinese history, cul-ture, and language. I found it really interesting and I love history so having two cultures just made this job even better. I also never really understood what an immersion school was before I joined and now I fell more knowledgeable about that. Q: How long have you been working at CAIS and what did you do before you came here?A: I have been working here for around two years now, because this is my second year here. And be-fore I came here I worked for a CEO of a construc-tion company .Q: Do you like how CAIS is run?A: Yes, I do like the school

An Interview with Ms. Kellyand one thing I like about it is our mission. I think that embracing Chinese, becoming you best self, and mak-ing your place in the world is something that if I had a child and they went to school here, I would really like them to learn that mission, and I would want them to carry that for a long time.Q:What made you intresteted in working at CAIS?A: Well I wanted to see if I can get back into educa-tion, and it’s something that really interests me. I am a continuing student outside of CAIS, so to be immersed working at a school and going to school fulfills my want of being in education. I also really like the area that the school is in, and the fact that the sight of the school is pretty big, but it’s not huge, and you know, we’re still growing. So I think we have got it pretty good so far.Q: What is your favorite place in the school?A:You know, my favorite place in school is probably the dragons lair because it has a big couch, a lot of light, and it has the quickest microwave, it’s just awesome.Q: Is there anything else you think the readers of the paper Dragon should know?A: Just that having a journalism club here in the after school program is excellent, and journalism is an awe-some field to get into.

Funny Cats Rule the InternetBy Madison Laymon This article is dedicated to our teachers, Ms. Liu & Ms. Obertance, whose love for funny cat pictures inspired us to go find thes epictures on the internet. We first learned about their love for funny cat pictures in study hall, where they told us about all the great cat pictures and videos you can find on the internet. “Funny cat pictures make me laugh, espe-cially the ‘Grumpy Cat,’” said Ms. Obertance. “I think they’re cute, said Ms. Liu. “They make me laugh.” There are a lot of funny cat pics that get a lot of likes on the internet, like “The Cat in the Box!” or “Grumpy Cat.” Part of the popularity is the funny things that get written about the cats. “Cat pictures are entertaining, but witty cap-tions take the experience to the next level of hilarity,” said Ms. Obertance. If you want to see more funny cat pictures, go to Ms. Liu & Ms. Obertance and tell them you want funny cat pictures! I’m 99% sure they’ll show you some funny pictures!

A Technical TestBy Zachary Ngin

January is always a gloomy time of the year; it signals the end of the win-ter holidays and the end of the most sub-stantial break in the middle of the school year. At CAIS, it is especially ominous because of an annual event that happens in January- ERB testing. The ERBs are standardized tests designed to measure achievement in students from Pre-K to 12th grade. The ERBs test mathematics, writing con-cepts, writing mechanics, and reading comprehension. Students at CAIS from 3rd to 8th grade take the test every year. Students dread the test; and while this is a test that doesn’t require studying, it has been the subject of quite a bit of stress for the CAIS community. ERB testing at CAIS has always been done in a written form on paper, ei-ther in test booklets or on answer sheets. But this year, the testing was done on the school’s laptop computers. We took the tests on a web site, filling in the endless multiple choice circles with computer pixels rather than pencil lead. We were all surprised when they told us that we would be taking the tests electronically. ERB testing has finished for some of the middle school students, and is in prog-ress for others, so I asked some of them what they thought of this use of technol-ogy to administer the test. “I think there are a lot of glitches, but the plus side is that the time is accurate and if we need to use the restroom or go outside, we can pause the test,” said Novia Kayfetz, a CAIS seventh grade student. Graham Sak, a sixth grader, said: “I think it was much easier than paper because filling in the bubbles was hard.” Rene Fong, another sixth grader said, “I thought it was easier because you can easily review and go back to questions.” “Having ERBs on computers is very inconve-nient because you’re unable to flip back to a page eas-ily. If you press the wrong button, the computer will

explode,” said Karina Koo, referring to the commonly occuring glitches and lag. I personally think the change is a positive one, as using computers to take tests is an eco-friendly thing to do; we are probably saving hundreds of sheets of paper. Also, the computer tests that are sent in electronically leave little room for error; it would be hard to misplace tests or incorrectly grade them. I also agree with some-one I took a quote from in that the answer bubbles are easier to fill in. Because there are no big negative effects, I think CAIS will continue using this method to administer tests. ERBs will never be a fun, recreational activity, but many of the CAIS community and I all agree that this is a good change.

Green Team:

Spork-ifesBy Novia Kayfetz and Katherine Wu (Green Team Members) Did you don’t know there is a new club in CAIS Middle School? The name of this club is “The Green Team”. Led by Mr. Churchill, we are trying to make CAIS into a greener community. You can help in many different ways, even if you’re not part of The Green Team. Do you know what a spork is? If you don’t, it is a crossbreed of a fork and a spoon—now that is only two of the three important utensils. The spork people seem to have forgotten about a knife. What if one day you were out camping with your spork and you’re having fish for dinner? However, you can’t seem to find a knife. The spork-ifes combine all three in one, making it a lot more portable than each separate utensil and they are EXTREMELY good for the environment because they are reusable. Our Green Team have decided to sell spork-ifes for our school to save us from constantly throwing away plastic. We came up with this idea after our Outdoor ED trip to the Pinnacles, where many people students used

spork-ifes. We will be getting a specially designed shipment of these spork-ifes. They were ordered specially so that they will have a message that relates to our CAIS com-munity. These spork-ives will have the message “Go Green” or “保護環境” on them. Our overall goal for using the spork-ifes is that we, the students, will reuse them everyday and have no need to use disposable plastic utensils. The spork-ifes are made out of durable plas-tic. The knife is on the side of the fork and isn’t sharp enough to break skin. We will be selling these soon with the buns on Wednesday. “The Green Team” hopes to help our Earth one step at a time, in anyway.

By Madison Laymon and Phoebe Mak Easter is really about spending time with your friends, looking through bushes and through mud. Looking from head to toe, for easter eggs that are filled with small treats like chocolate, jelly beans, quarters, chocolate coins, chocolate eggs, chocolate bunnies, and other small toys. The best part is you get to put it all in a colorful easter basket. Then you go inside and eat your candy and talk to your family and friends about what a fun time you’ve had. After all this, then you say goodbye. Finally, you go eat more candy til there’s none left. And that’s the true meaning of Easter!

5th Grade Student Government has a simple mission: build community in the CAIS Lower School. To do this, they have created Spirit Days (days where there is a theme and students can dress up in fun ways) and a community service opportunities. Below are some of the activities that the 5th Grade Student Government has sponsored this school year.

BAKE SALEOn January 25th, the CAIS 5th grade student govern-ment had a bake sale. The bake sale was the 5th grade student government’s first fundraiser. They were raising money for fun prizes. The prizes are for future lower school spirit days! The bake sale was fantastic, there were different varieties of foods. Not only that, but the 5th grade student government made lots of money for spirit days and more! We asked students of both FAIS and CAIS whether they liked, disliked, or did not go to the bake sale. For the survey, we asked a total of 40 students. Results: The majority of those surveyed really liked the bake sale and the variety of baked goods that were avail-able. Some did not like the long line that they had to wait in.

PAJAMA DAYOn December 14th, the 5th grade student government held a spirit day. The lower school was allowed to wear their pajamas to school. There was also a raffle for this spirit day. Anybody who participated in pajama day got a raffle ticket, and each person would write their name on their raffle ticket and then somebody would collect it. Then if you participated in pajama day, you would get a chance of being picked from the raffle. And if you are picked, you would get a prize from the 5th grade student government. From 1st grade to 5th grade, each grade had one person get a prize for participating in pa-jama day.

Pajama Day was the first spirit day the 5th grade student government held. And lots of people loved it. Some people liked it because you didn’t have to change in the morning. Other people liked it because you got to be in warm and cozy clothes throughout the whole entire day. Picabo and Elaine knew that a lot of people liked pajama day, they also knew that of course, some people didn’t like pajama day. Knowing this, we took a survey of 40 CAIS lower school students, to see how many of them disliked or liked pajama day.

Results: The majority of those surveyed really enjoyed Pajama Day and thought it was really fun. A small handful didn’t like it.

Beach Clean-Up The Student Government also had a Beach Clean-up Day (on March 3rd) as their first ever com-munity service activity. The Beach Clean-up Day was put on by the Surfrider Foundation, who provided gloves, buckets, and grabbers. The CAIS community provided over 100 students and parents to provide the muscle needed to clean up Ocean Beach. It was a beau-tiful day and a fun time for everyone who participated.

Dear Madame F,

I just found out that all my friends hung out this week-end without me, I’m really hurt, what should I do about this? -Rejected

Dear Rejected,

I get that you’re confused about this, but the best thing to do is to not push them away. It’ll just go in a cycle. You get hurt when they leave you behind, if you ignore them, they get the feeling that you don’t want to hang out with them and they go out without you and over and over again. But if you want an answer, talk to them. It’s cliche, but it works. Boost your courage, then just come out and ask them.

Madame F

Dear Madame F,

I have a huge crush on this guy and I even went as far as to put a valentines gift in his locker, but I don’t think he has a clue. As far as I know, he never even found the gifts I put in his locker. Don’t tell me to move on please, haven’t you ever heard, “The heart wants what the heart wants”? I don’t have a clue what to do!

-Forever Alone </3

Dear Forever Alone </3,

He won’t start to like you if you don’t start to grow a backbone. Your desperation is NOT a good quality to have. If you start to see how awesome you are, he’ll even-tually see it too. Even if he isn’t right for you, you’ll just have to keep looking, but it’s more fun that way anyway.

Madame F

Dear Madame F,

I share a room with my brother and he’s got a lot of junk that he leaves all around our room. He throws his socks everywhere and he leaves his messes everywhere in the room. To do what? Make me clean up! I’m so sick of him making a mess. I wish he moved out of the house!

-Neat Freak

Dear Neat Freak,

Just have your brother put a huge basket or something by his bed and put all his stuff in that so he has to put it away. Hope this works!

Madame F

Dear Madame F,

Some people in my grade were saying that all you have to do in journalism is eat and write.

-Curious

Dear Curious,

That’s not true, I mean, we have snacks and we do have to write but we also have art, editors, deadlines, photog-raphy, and many other interesting things that make up journalism!

By Crissy Sak Here are the ten most subscribed channels on YouTube (according to YouTube). For each one I have written a short de-scription of the content and my opinion of the channel.

#10: holasoygermanHolasoygerman is about a guy named German, who actually speaks Spanish and his channel is all in Spanish. I do not know spanish, so this channel does not interest me, but check it out if you understand!

#9: freddiewThis channel actually consists of two guys called Freddie Wong and Brandon Laatsch. They specialize in special effects and edit-ing, such as fake gun shooting and seemingly realistic explosions. It might be a bit violent, but they also teach you about editing in their second channel, freddiew2.

#8: onedirectionvevoI am very sure that you know of One Direction, and if you haven’t...well...you’re probably just a caveman. Anyways, this is a Vevo chan-nel, which is the part of YouTube with highly produced music video for famous singers. This channel has all of the One Direction songs and also a few extras. If you love them, go ahead and check it out.

#7: PewDiePiePewdiepie, also known as Felix, is an avid gamer who plays a vari-ety of games that include the horror name Amnesia, Slenderman, and many other games. He does not only play horror, but many ac-tion games and has even played Barbie before. He swears a lot in his videos, so I would probably advise little kids to stay away from his videos. If you are older and accept gore and bad words in a video game, then this might be the entertainment you’ll love.

#6: machinimaMachinima is not of just one person, but many. They play many games like Halo, Batman, Max Payne and many other rated R games, but they also play kid friendly games like Minecraft. Truth-fully, I don’t know much of them or if they swear, but if you love watching others play games or tutorials (I think they do) then this is perfect for you.

#5: RihannaVEVOAh Rihanna, the singer that we know and love. All of her music videos and extras are on this Vevo channel, so go ahead and check it out!

Top 10 Most Popular Channels on Youtube

#4: nigahigaThis channel is by a guy named Ryan Higa, who used to be the most subscribed YouTuber at one point in 2011. He is a comedian and is very kid friendly, so people of all ages can watch this and laugh hysterically. He is also in a group called YTF, which includes many other Youtubers like JRAquino, D-trix and a couple of oth-ers. You should totally check the channel out!

#3: JennaMarblesJenna is the person that runs this channel, and one of her two dogs is named Marbles, so that’s why her Youtube name is so. She swears a little in her videos, but she is a comedian and is very hilarious. If you are ok with swearing, then go ahead and check her out!

#2: RayWilliamJohnsonThis guy is in fact named Ray William Johnson, and his channel is slightly inappropriate, but his channel is hilarious and his little skits include very popular videos. He used to be the most sub-scribed in 2012 for a very long period of time, but now that smosh took the title, he settled for two. Definitely check him out if you are ok with slightly inappropriate behavior.

#1: smoshThis Youtube channel consists of two dudes named Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla. Their videos are slightly inappropriate and has slightly vulgar language, but their appropriate videos (like a few of the early Food Battle videos) are very pleasing to people who have a more of a kid-like humor.I personally love YouTube and waste many days just staring at the little screen that is my iPod, laughing and crying along with the videos. YouTube has many good points as well as bad, but overall, it is a place full of funny videos and I hope that your experience with it is fun.

Yummy Yummyin My Tummy By Sheridan and Michelle

In the center of the Inner Sunset sits a cozy little Vietnamese restaurant called Yummy Yummy. They serve a large variety of noodle soups, Vietnamese-style appetizers, and Asian drinks. Some of our favorites include beef noodle soup, Vietnamese pot stickers, lem-ongrass barbeque pork, mango pudding and Thai iced tea. The moment you enter, you’ll smell the delicious aroma of true Vietnamese food. This local res-taurant has awesome service, and is locat-ed on the same block as the widely known San Tung restaurant. It’s a great al-ternative for those who don’t want to wait forever in San Tung’s endless line of customers waiting to be seated, and the food is just as good!

The New Hand DryersBy Michelle Morgan After everyone came back from the winter break, we noticed changes in the bathrooms. All the towel dispensers have been mysteri-ously replaced by automatic hand dryers. Some people may agree that the decision to change them was great, because it reduces our paper waste and is good for the environment. “These hand dryers are good for the envi-ronment. They take away the need for paper towels,” said 8th grader, Mirei Golding-Powers. Unfortunately these loud machines don’t completely dry your hands, they just blow some warm air out. “I don’t like the new hand dryers, because I’m never able to fully dry my hands anymore,” said 7th grader, Andrew Chan. Also, say you smudged your makeup or you got green marker on your face or you spilled soup all

over your pants- there aren’t any towels to help you clean up! Whatever your opinion is, this school obvi-ously made this decision for our good. Over time, they won’t have to pay for all the paper towels and it would greatly reduce our paper waste, which is a good thing for our slowly deteriorating environ-ment. Have fun trying to dry those hands!

12. OoccooOoccoo appears in twilight princess. Ooccoo meets you when you rescue her in the Forest Temple. !Spoiler Alert *Do not read if you are stuck on the Forest Temple dungeon. Skip the 3 sentences ahead.* ! Ooccoo will be stuck in a pot in a dead end of the temple. She will then thank you and become a selectable item. She will allow you to escape from a dun-geon once you find her in any dungeon except for the last 2. She also has a son, Ooccoo Jr. He’s just a floating head, by the way. It’s not really her that’s weird, just the race looks weird. What is she? I think she looks like she has a bald human head on a bird (chicken, specifically) body. According to zelda.wiki.org, she is an Oocca.

11. AgithaAgitha appears in Twilight Princess. She claims she is the “Princess of Bugs”, although she has NO rela-tion to any royal family. She just absolutely LOVES bugs! She ap-parently had planned a “ball” for the bugs starring her, but they are all lost and scattered everywhere in hyrule, and you are supposed to find all 24 types, 12 species, male and female, to her. One quick look at her and you’ll mistake her for a teenager. Yes, MISTAKE. She is really only 10 years old. You’d think she lives with her parents or older relative, right? Wrong! Unless you count bugs as “some-one” else. She lives by herself in western castle town, in what she calls her “castle”. More like 2 leveled room. Do you see that picture of her? Cute, you think. Wrong again. Well, I used to think that too, until I read this: “L’il stag beetle, Lil stag beetle, your spiky pinch-ers are so sharp! They must feel so good...” …. I have no comment.

10. Happy Mask SalesmanThe Happy Mask Salesman appears in Majora’s Mask. While you’re stuck as a Deku Scrub, you talk to this man. He says if you get back a mask stolen from him by the skull kid and your ocarina, he’ll turn you back into a human. Once you get back your ocarina, he assumes you got the mask back too. So, (this is also creepy) he spawns an organ out of thin air! He plays and teaches you the Song of Healing and you turn back into a human, and the deku scrub form is turned into a deku mask, so it allows you to turn into a deku scrub and back into a human. Once he finds out you didn’t get back the mask, he goes entirely BERSERK. Even your fairy companion, Tatl, is scared of him (yet she isn’t afraid of the skull kid wearing Majora’s Mask...)! He is SO creepy and weird, it’s almost a crime he’s only at number 10.

9. FalbiFalbi appears in Twilight PrincessFalbi is a clown that looks like he’s wearing a two piece. Not only does he look weird, he also runs a game at Lake Hylia. You grab a chicken, pay to play the game, and jump off a extremely high ledge with the chicken flapping his wings like crazy, flying above Lake Hylia, and you’re supposed to steer it into giant rupee shapes. What else am I supposed to tell you? Oh yea. He walks like he’s gonna pee. There isn’t that much left to say about him, just what he does and how he looks is really weird.8. BarnesBarnes appears in Twilight PrincessBarnes runs the bomb shop in Kakariko Village. He is upset that his storage shed filled with his bombs was blown up (you had to do that to save the children) while he was hiding from the monsters. When he reopens his shop, you can buy regular bombs and a bomb bag. If you go into his shop and you light your lantern in any place in his shop, he’ll put on his welding mask and hit his desk. Some water will come pouring on you and your lantern will go out. Here is the weird thing about that: How is it possible for him to just hit his desk and water will pour down directly on top of you? Well, that’s a mystery. Barnes is, well, plain weird. I know I should have more to say about him, but, if you’ve played the game, you know what I mean.

7. The Toilet GuyThe toilet guy appears in Majora’s Mask in the Stock Pot Inn’s Bath-roomIt’s the hand of a guy in the toilet. ‘Nuff said. Actually, there is an-other hand coming out of a toilet, only this time it’s a girl. It appears in Skyward Sword. You find the hand in the toilet of the bathroom in the Knight Academy.

6. KamaroKamaro appears in Majora’s MaskKamaro is a freaky looking pale skinned guy. He dances on top of a rock outside of Clock Town, and your receive a creepy mask with his head sticking out of it from him. The mask allows you to do his dance. With the mask, you’re supposed to teach his dance to the world. And to be honest, he’s a little fat, too.

5. MaloMalo appears in Twilight PrincessMalo is the younger brother of Talo. (By the way, Talo wants to be “Just like you!”... or Link, anyway) Malo is a freaky baby looking person who acts very mature for (what you assume is) his age. Al-right, back at Ordon Village (when you first start the game), he’s the little creepy baby thing. After you rescue the children in Kakariko Village, Malo will open up a shop called Malo Mart. And now he acts even MORE mature which makes it even weirder. And, if you don’t buy anything from him, he’ll say, “Time is money, so stop wasting both.” You don’t even get a thank you from him for saving him and the other people of Kakariko Village! He knows you saved him, so why is he so rude?

4. The Elvis Guy, AKA Tott, The World’s Charismatic Dancer Extraordinaire!Tott appears in Wind WakerEven though I haven’t played Wind Waker, I had to put him on this list. What’s so weird Tott? He dresses up like Elvis (which is why I call him the Elvis Guy), and dances non- stop, all day and all night. Creepy, right? When does he use the bathroom, sleep and eat?

3. Talus Cave BossThis boss appeared in The Four Swords Adventures, and the re-make, Four Swords 25th anniversary edition for the DSi.Although his powers and strength are very strong and causes a lot of damage (well, it’s a boss, right?), he is pretty easily defeated. You’d think he’d be freeze- proof because he lives in a cave of ice. Nope! You keep on attacking him with your sword, and eventually you’ll push him back far enough to push him against the wall of ice. He then freezes into a block of ice. See? Frozen into a block of ice. Later, in another stage of the boss fight, he won’t attack you. Instead, he’ll bounce around you in a square, making icicles fall and if one hits you, that’s a heart lost. The only way to stop him is to attack him when he’s on the ground. Not only is he weird, he’s also a pretty lame boss.

2. The Great FairyThe Great Fairy appears in Majora’s MaskShe is a caring fairy who gives you powers. Although she may seem nice, she’s actually pretty creepy, and not the person you’d go to for TLC. Her laugh when she shrinks back down into a small fairy sounds like a person who’s dying and is laughing. Oh, and she’s practically nude.

1. TingleTingle appears in Majora’s Mask and The Wind Waker. He is a 35 year old man who believes he is “The very reincarnation of a forest fairy.” (Tingle, Majora’s Mask) His father wants him to act his age, so in order to not disappoint his father, he sells you maps. If you take a picture of Tingle with the pictograph and enter it in the pictograph contest, TIngle’s father will state that Tingle is his son, and that “He really is a kind hearted boy.” Well, how do explain how he acts in Wind Waker? First, Tingle is in jail for stealing the pictograph he gives you after you get him out of jail. Second, when you go into his cell and crawl through the passage in the back, there will be a room full of skulls and stone tablets with his story inscribed in it. Are the skulls the heads of his victims, and could Tingle be a mass murder? Tingle and yourself, Link, are the first people in that room, which makes it weird that there are skulls in that room. In my opinion, Tingle is just plain weird. 35 years old and he still believes he’s a fairy.

Do You Believe in Unicorns + Dragons? By: Luxi Arnold and Phoebe Mak (Inspired by 5th grader, Maia Tse)

We have been interviewing some students and teachers here at CAIS to see if they believe in uni-corns and dragons. Those old, extinct animlas left us a long time ago, but we can still remember them, with the pow-er of belief. What do they look like? Do children really love them? Were they real? See for yourself. We’ve got the proof. We asked girls and boys around CAIS to draw a picture of a unicorn. We also found some evi-dence that unicorns and dragons are not only real, but some have been spotted on the CAIS campus.

Clockwise from bottom left:1. A CAIS student and her friend, the dragon. 2. and 3. Two CAIS students show off their unicorn drawings.4. A real unicorn?

Now that you’ve see it with your own eyes, what do you think?

It seems some kids would like to have a home pet but the other kids would most likely want a wild animal. Everybody seems to be into different sorts of animals or sea animals. We all hope they get a chance to meet them or have one!

Phoebe Mak5th grade

“I guess a giraffe.”

Oliver Chessen’s

Animal StyleBy Oliver Chessen

Animal: Raccoon DogThe Raccoon Dog is not a dog nor a raccoon. It has no close rela-tives... at all. It was originally from east Asia in countries like Japan, Russia, Korea, and China, but was introduced to eastern and central European countries for fur trade.

Physical DescriptionThe raccoon dog has a body shape very similar to a normal raccoon, the only major difference is its protruding back. Other differ-ences include its elongated snout, its unringed tail, and a whole dif-ferent color palette, including tans black and browns. The raccoon dog doesn’t have any close rela-tives, but its skeleton looks similar to the crab eating fox and other south american foxes.

DietRaccoon dogs are omnivores which feed on insects, mouse-like rodent, amphibians, birds, fish, reptiles, mollusks, carrion, and insectivores. The most commonly hunted rodents include voles, gerbils, shrews, hedgehogs, and occasionally, moles. They also eat grains, pulps, roots, and fruits.

Taxonomy They are also known as the mag-nut or tanuki, these names trans-late to “night”, “wanderer”, “be-fore-dog”, and “raccoon.”
