This is a good time to think about giving. In November the Aerie voted to donate $1,000 to the Lynnwood food bank as they were in a great need.

We are a non-profit and we raise money for

all kinds of charities. I would like to propose that we pick a charity of the month and just keep a jar out for that purpose..

We are looking for ideas and volunteers to help raise funds. We also need to start thinking about who will be running for officer positions for the coming year. Our Aerie year starts June 1.

Keep bringing in the new members, you are doing great.

District 9 Auxiliary PAWS Fundraiser is now through May 1. It support cats, kittens, dogs and puppies at the Lynnwood PAWS. Suggested donations: Dry and wet food, bedding, toys, treats, blankets, towels, leashes, elasticized collars, combs, brushes, toiletries, cash donations and shoe boxes. (I stopped by PAWS and learned these boxes are used by the Wild life area for birds, squirrels, etc. and are most appreciated. Bring the items to our Auxiliary meetings, I will make a list of the donations and deliver them to PAWS. If you or anyone you know ,is looking for a cat or dog, visit PAWS. You too could own a Rescue animal.

Weekly Club Activities

Craft BeeThe club will hold a craft bee on the second and

fourth Tuesday of each month in the large Aerie room at the club. Anyone who desires to come in and work on their craft is invited. There is be enough space to lay out a quilt. There are large tables to cut out patterns, space to work with your own sewing machine. If you do hand work of any kind, come in and be social or get help in a knitting pattern or crochet.

Come in and have a relaxed, fun time with other members who craft. And guys, this also includes you. It runs from 3 p.m. until whenever. The bar stays opens until 10 o’clock. Come and go at your own pace. You can order juices, soft drinks or alcohol from the bar. Chaplain Vicki Eames

Club Manager The Trustees wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. If you have children, grandkids, or just a favorite little one, remember the Lynnwood Eagles Kids Christmas Party December 18 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There’s talk that there may be two Santa’s at the party.

We hope that all will give a warm welcome to Kathy M. as she continues to work side-by-side with Sally to learn the position of club manager. Kathy says that she’s up for the challenge of leading a team to run the Lynnwood Eagles well into the future.

On another note, a guy who continues to bust his tail for the club, Bob Nelson has to go in for “chop, cut, rebuild” to regain his dancing composure.

During Bob’s absence Kathie B. (From North City) who’s been training with Bob will take over the helm for a while so Bob can recoup, Thanks Kathy B.

There’s the bus trip to Leavenworth for the “Tree Lighting” on Saturday, Dec. 10, the bus will be leaving the Lynnwood Eagles at 10 a.m. If you’re interested, check with the people that are chairing the event, as there may be last minute cancellations.

New Year’s at the Lynnwood Eagles.The Trustees, are getting close to being able to

pull the trigger on the repair/replacement of the front (west) HVAC unit. We’re also getting close to the replacement of all of the strips that border the dance floor as well as the tile and carpet in the bar area.

The Trustees want to as always, send out a huge thanks to all of the volunteers, chair people, for all that they do for the Lynnwood Eagles and the members of the club.

We hope, if you get the chance, you would step up and be a part of what’s going on. Come up with something that you’d like to do.

If you have an idea that you’d like to share, put a note in the club manager’s mailbox hanging on the wall on the right side wall across from the ladies room as you head into the bar area.

The Lynnwood Eagles will have a bus going to Leavenworth for the Christmas tree lighting. It will leave the club at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10.

There will snacks available for the ride over and the ride back. You don’t have to be an Eagle member to go. The cost is $25 per person. If you cancel there is no refund.

ChaplainHard to believe Thanksgiving came and went

and Christmas is closing in. Enjoy your celebration with friends and family and be thankful for another completed year of life.

If we look around there is always something or someone to be thankful for. This is a good time to reflect on those you may have not said, Thank you” to enough or not at all.

I found this quote, “Some people grumble that roses have thorns; I am grateful that thorns have roses,” by Alphonse Karr. This is like looking at the glass half full or half empty.

If there are people you think of that you have not said thank you to. Try to be better about showing them appreciation. A simple thank you or acknowledgement that you appreciate them can make you both feel good.

As mos t o f my brothers know, I’m having problems with the mobility of my legs for the last two years. The end of the problem or the start of another more complicated problem will be determined with back surgery which by the time this article is in the Eagle Eye will have already taken place.

Merry Christmas to all our bothers and sisters of the Aeries and Lodge. May this be the most blessed time of year for each of you. This has been a very busy year for all of us and next year looks even busier. This holiday season is a very busy time in each of our lives, but lets stop and give thanks for what we have. Hugs and kisses for all our family and friends. We are very lucky people.

With our camping season done and put to bed until next April, many of us will be heading south for warmer weather, Those of us who are still here, can get together for lunches and dinners.

Our Christmas dinner is coming up this month. Our committee has been working very hard to make this a very enjoyable evening for everyone. It will be held at Wandering Creek on Saturday, Dec. 17, with a catered dinner of prime rib and NW salmon. Yumm. More about our celebration in the next issue of the Chimes and Eagle Eye. So stay tuned.

Just a few reminders: 1. There will be no monthly meeting in

December because we will be having our Christmas dinner party

2. No monthly meeting for January. 3. On Feb. 9, we will have our annual Valentine

dinner party. We need a chairman to head this. We have the date, but are looking for a place.

4. We are looking really ahead, so mark your calendars. Our 2017 Christmas dinner party will be on Dec. 16. How’s that for looking into the future. Anyone interested in chairing this event?

Our camping schedule is all compete. Thank you Denise and Topsy. Now all we need is WagonMasters to host them. It is really easy and lots of fun. Pick a month and run with it. It is lots of fun to team up with another couple or two to host an outing. Try it…guarantee you will have fun.

Who is that celebrating with party hats and whistles? Why it’s none other than: Art, Tom D, Dave S, Helen, Dawn, Janet S, Lee, Joanne and Scott S. Have a terrific time on your birthday. Art and Janet, you are the only December anniversaries in the Club. Celebrate and happy anniversary.

Our club is always looking for new members. We are a fun group who like to get together once a month, March through October for our monthly camp outs. We love to play cards (all kinds), swap stories, see what’s in the vicinity and just enjoy each other’s company.

We meet the second Thursday of each month except December, January and February. Our meetings are at the Lynnwood Elks Lodge starting at 7 p.m. The only requirement is that you like to have fun and be a member of either the Elks or Eagles. Come on down and check us out. Dues are only $10 per member. We’d love to meet you.

Medicare Part G A older senior citizen who can no longer take

care of himself and needs long-term care, but the government says there is no nursing home care available. Opt for Medicare Part G.

The plan gives anyone 75 or older a gun (Part G) and one bullet and allowed to shoot one worthless politician. This means he will be sent to prison for the rest of his life where he will receive three meals a day, a roof over his head, central heating and air conditioning, cable TV, a library, and all the health care he needs.

New teeth, glasses, hearing aid or maybe a new hip, knees, kidney, lungs, sex change, or heart, they are all covered.

As an added bonus, your family can visit you at least as often as they do now.

It’s all paid for by the same government who told you they can’t afford for you to go into a nursing home.

“’I’m afraid so,” the doctor told her. There was a moment of silence before the lady replied, “I’m wondering just how serious is my condition, be-cause this prescription is marked, no refills.”

SurgeryAn older gentleman was on the operating table

awaiting surgery and he insisted that his son, a re-nowned surgeon, perform the operation.

As he was about to get the anaesthesia, he asked to speak to his son. “Yes, dad, what is it?”

“Don’t be nervous son, just do your best, and just remember if it doesn’t go well, if some-thing happens to me, your mother will just come and live with you and your wife.”

Hello Everyone: As you may know my family and I lost our house last year in a fire and have been rebuilding. The time has come for us to move in. It has been a life altering experience from beginning to end.

My husband, Che and I wanted to send a very special thank you to each and everyone who has been so supportive during this time. It has been so wonderful having so much support. We are so appreciative of everyone’s inquires and advice offered during the rebuild. Thanks for the fundraiser and all the donations of items for our family to start over.

Motorcycle Jacket RaffleA nice Christmas present

A Can-Am Spyder motorcycle jacket left from the picnic will be to raffled. It is black, size large and worth between $100-150.

Raffle tickets will be available at the bar and from Vicki Eames or Midge Tallman. This is the last item to raise money for the Everett Sea Cadet group. Tickets are just $1.

You don’t have to be present to win. Ticket sales will continue until at least 150 tickets are sold. Date of the drawing will be announced

George Phillips, an elderly man from Walled Lake, Michigan, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he’d left the light on in the garden shed. Phillips opened the back door to turnoff the light and saw there people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked “Are they in your house?”

He said, “No,” but they are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me.”

The police dispatcher said, “All patrols are too busy, Lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available”

He said, “Okay.” He hung up the phone and counted to 30, then phoned the police again.

“Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don’t have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both. The dogs are eating them right now,” and he hung up.

Within five minutes, six police cars, a SWAT Team, a helicopter, two fire trucks, a paramedic and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips’ house and caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the policemen said to Phillips, “I thought you said that you’d shot them.”

Phillips said, “I thought you said there was nobody available!”
