Colossians 2:16-17, KJV16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of

the new moons, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come;

but the body is of Christ.

be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.”

Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

Shaul’s message:The festivals are all

prophetic shadow pictures of things yet to come.

[The apostles still kept the feasts]

Spring Feasts:Passover 1 (event), ULB 7

Fall Feasts:Sukkot 7, Shemini Atzeret 1

(mirror image of the shadow picture)

Spring Feasts:Passover: The bride is freed from bondage.

Pentecost: Torah given as a bridal contract

Fall Feasts:Yom Teruah: The Bridegroom

comes for his bride.

Yom Kippur: The wedding. The bride turns away from the world,

to focus on her Husband.

Fall Feasts:Sukkot: The bride and Groom go to the

Groom’s father’s house.

Shemini Atzeret: Tarry service, held over(Not Simchat Torah)

Shemini Atzeret is a separate festival.The sukka and lulav are not used.

עֲצֶרֶת OT:6116 `atsarah or `atsereth;

from OT:6113; an assembly, especially on a festival or holiday:

OT:6113 `atsar (עצר); a primitive root; to enclose; by analogy, to hold back;

also to maintain, rule, assemble:KJV - be able, close up, detain, fast, keep (self close, still), prevail, recover, refrain,

reign, restrain, retain, shut (up), slack, stay, stop, withhold (self).

How does Yahweh intendto “hold us over”?

Kepha Bet (2nd Peter) 3:88 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing:

that with YHWH, one [prophetic] day is as a thousand years,

and a thousand years is as one day.

B’reisheet (Genesis) 2:22 And on the seventh day Elohim

Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:41-4341 You shall keep it as a feast to YHWH for

seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your

All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths,

Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:3636 For seven days you shall offer an

offering made by fire to YHWH. On the eighth day you shall have a set-

apart assembly (עֲצֶרֶת), and you shall offer an offering made by fire to YHWH. It is a

set-apart assembly (עֲצֶרֶת), and you shall do no customary work on it.

Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:3939 “Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit

of the land, you shall keep the feast of YHWH for seven days; on the first day

there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest.

Day 1 symbolizes the creation?

B’reisheet (Genesis) 1:1-21 In the beginning Elohim created the

heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was made formless and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep.

Eighth day symbolizes the Tarry service.

thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat;

both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

Four species are celebrated

Exodus and Deuteronomy, date of the festival is given

with regards to the agricultural season and the harvests.

(The tithe is mentioned in Exodus and Deuteronomy, because the tithe was historically timed to the animal and

vegetable harvests.)

Leviticus gives thedates of the festivals with regards to the

calendar dates.

(e.g., “on the fourteenth day of the month….”)

Hitgalut (Revelation) 14:17-1915 And another messenger came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, "Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap,

for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”

Hitgalut (Revelation) 14:17-1916 So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His

sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

Hitgalut (Revelation) 14:17-1917 Then another messenger came out of

the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe."

and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of Elohim.
