Does the frost bubble know it’s showcasing

the beautiful intricacy of its inner design—

usually kept out of sight?

Was the key to receiving this time honored

position the bubble’s transparency?

If I could be as transparent as that bubble,

would I get an invitation as well?

I’d be willing to disclose everything if the

source of that gorgeous artistry created an

exquisite backdrop for all my antics.

That would be stellar—

& definitely worth the effort & courage it

would most certainly entail.

Sometimes when I feel frozen and desolate,

a moment of magic arises out of nowhere.

An invisible hand brushes across the sky,

granting a glimpse of beauty so graced with

the full force of awe and wonder,

I forget all as I’m swept into the astonishing &

exquisite silence of pure surprise.

I find this always accompanies the Essential’s

decision to step out of hiding and reassure

me—YES—It is really there—behind it all.

Are the budding flowers of spring

in a hurry to bloom?

Are any aware that

blossoming into itself

is its divine design?

Is it a foregone conclusion it will

reach it’s flowering?

I don’t know the answers to these

questions. But I’m going to assume

I can say ‘Yes’ to each of them.

That way, I can relax and trust

I’m doing fine—and whatever is

directing that flower’s journey

is also directing mine.


What invisible power within dead wood frees something so lovely &

delicate to emerge?

I’m hoping the essence of that same covert power lives inside of me.

You see, there’s an awful lot of dead wood building up in there—left over images from a dead past long gone.

I’m often quite desperate to leave that past behind.

Perhaps I can cajole that power to come out into the open & be my new friend.

What is that invisible pull causing us to gather together?

It’s a bit embarrassing to say— but I think it’s Love.

Plain & simple—an invisible essence planted within us from the beginning.

Like a magnet, It draws us together on the outside. And then—if we’re lucky—

It draws us together on the inside too.

Is Love the answer to all our problems?

When I follow that pull, the answer is an unequivocal & somewhat amazed ‘Yes’.

Now, if I can just stop being afraid of Love, I’m sure life will immediately get a lot easier.

What makes Nature mix and match colors and

lines so exquisitely—repeating her exact patterns from one

member of a species to the next?

I want that gift too. It would make life easier

if I could spot where we’re all the same.

But wait!

Isn’t my species a part of Nature too?

That means this same creative genius

must have been applied to humans too!

I’m so tired of finding fault with others &

myself.

I’d rather see how we’re the same and start singing

loud & happy praises over what is now

just an obvious and irrefutable fact!

When I look closely, I see perfection showing it’s wares.

When things are just as they are,

without my considerations for how they could be better,

the ‘perfectness’ shines through.

It’s a tough angle of vision to grasp.

But every time I land there—I’ve got to tell you—it works

miracles with my mind & emotions.

For a moment, it’s obvious everything is just fine.

Nothing for me to do, no one to be—and

no where to go.

Such peace makes me so happy, I’m just quiet—

Even though I know, sooner or later,

I’ll once again fly away in search of that ‘perfection’

according to me.

The Essential ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi’ August 2019

When I feel dry & parched, I crave a cool, thirst quenching drink.

From where does this felt, but unseen plea for liquid, arise?

What is pulling me to take action and

start gravitating toward the fulfillment of my desire?

Science can describe the process. But . . . is that all that’s happening?

Could it be there’s an Invisible Essential ‘Something’ inside of me showing its face?

Could It be urging me to be of service to It’s desire—and lovingly quench

It’s thirst rather than mine?

September 2019 The Essential ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi’

I used to doubt the reality of anything I could not clearly see.

Then one day I encountered a unique butterfly.

Its wings—apparently as transparent as glass—made them oddly invisible to the eye.

I quickly asked, ‘Where are the wings? I can’t see them!’

And then … the butterfly abruptly took flight.

In that moment, it was clear the existence of those wings did not rest

in my seeing them.

No—the proof of their reality was that marvelous moment of flight.—

A genuine testament to the inadequacy of my criteria for

assessing what is real and what is not.

Nature knows when to burst forth, flaunting her

unique versions of self expression in every

nook & cranny possible.

More intriguing is her capacity to let go &

surrender to the inevitable withering & demise

of her creative statements.

There must be some insider knowledge at work

here—allowing this astonishingly graceful agreement

to what I perceive as a very arduous

& stressful demand from life.

I wonder what I have to trade to become

privy to this secret.

Even if it’s my ego that has to end up on the

chopping block, I’m going to

start shouting—right now—really loud—

‘I want in too!’

When color mingles with black & white,

light & dark begin courting in the shadows,

& wet gently weds with dry creating glistening moments of beauty,

something out of sight, yet present, becomes palpable.

This invisible catalyst frees things that don’t mix

to suddenly find themselves dancing—arm in arm—

Revealing how love actually looks when not imprisoned by talk &

can simply display its amazing wares.

Seeds are couriers from the future— carrying silent & invisible possibilities.

These little kernels protect the astonishing blueprints they carry— tucking them safely away until their

time to emerge.

It feels like some seeds assigned to me have begun releasing a whole slew of

new seeds!

I fear their sheer number may be heralding an entirely unexplored

design

Let’s hope they’re delivering new ways to share my love & laughter— & not to keep hiding it away

like an old crusty curmudgeon
