EXT. THE WOODS- DAY

Two guys (Ash, Scotty) and two girls (Linda, Cheryl) havebags on their backs and are hiking through the lumber.

SCOTTYDamn it, Ash! Thanks to yourstupid ass car we're left to hikethe rest of the way to the cabin!

ASHI can't understand why though! Itook it in for a tune upyesterday.

SCOTTYWell take it back then!

Linda steps in between them to make sure they don't regretany of their actions.

LINDAAlright guys, that's enough! Arewe going to enjoy this weekend ornot?

Ash and Scotty look at each other and then away.

ASHAlright Linda, whatever you say.

Linda hugs Ash.

LINDAGoody!

Cheryl looks at them in disgust.

CHERYLJesus guys, Get a room.

SCOTTYThat's what we're looking for ya'stupid bitch!

Ash shoves Scotty.

ASHWatch your mouth, man. That's mysister you're talking to.

Scotty backs up.

SCOTTYSorry man, jesus. I didn't meanit.

Cheryl rolls her eyes.

CHERYLWhatever.

Linda's eyes widen, she points.

LINDAGuys! Guys look!

They all turn their heads.

SCOTTYThank god, we're finally here.

They are all looking over at the cabin.

INT. THE CABIN- AFTERNOON

Ash and the gang enter the cabin.

ASHI'll go call a towing company.

Ash leaves the lobby. Cheryl notices something's up withScotty.

CHERYLPenny for your thoughts, Scotty?

SCOTTYThis place is a shit hole. Mymother wouldn't be proud of thecabin being like this.

Linda leaves the lobby to go find Ash.

LINDAAsh?

No response.

LINDA (CONT'D)Ash?

She turns a corner and finds Ash, with his mouth open, andbarely holding the telephone in his hand.

LINDA (CONT'D)Is everything alright, Ash?

Ash turns his head.

ASHThe damned phone's dead.

Linda turns her head in surprise.

LINDAReally? That's odd.

Linda takes the phone from Ash and places it up against herear, dead silence.

LINDA (CONT'D)This phone probably can't recievea connection. Because we're so farout into the woods.

ASHOh, I suppose that's true. That'sprobably why the phone's dead.

Scotty pops into the room.

SCOTTYAlright, who's hungry?

INT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

Everyone's gathered around the dinning room table.

LINDAAlright! Let's dig in!

Ash stands up.

ASHJust a second, Lind. I'd like tomake a toast.

LINDAYeah, that'd be nice.

ASHA good friend one told me, buh,hmm,soa,grt,fuh.

CHERYLWhat does that even mean, Ash?

Scotty stands up lifting his glass of wine.

SCOTTYParty down!

They all laugh and almost start eating their food, butsuddenly the cellar door burts open.

LINDAAh!

They all head over to the door.

ASHWhat do you think could've openeda door like this?

CHERYLI don't know? Maybe it was ananimal?

Scotty gets a giant grin.

SCOTTYAn animal?!? Ya' stupid bitch!

Ash nudges Scotty.

ASHWhy don't you go look Scotty?

SCOTTY(Nervous)

Um... It probably was just somekind of animal.

ASHWell we don't know that, go check.

SCOTTYNo way, asshole! You're the onewho wanted to know.

Linda gets out the flashlight

LINDAGo Scotty, You're being a wimp.

ASHYeah Scotty, Ya' scared orsomethin'

Scotty take the flashlight from Linda.

SCOTTYNo one calls me a wimp.

Scotty walks down the stairs into the cellar.

(Keep camera on cellar doorfor a few seconds)

Linda looks nervous.

LINDAI think he's been down there for awhile.

CHERYLEh, he's probably just playin' ajoke on us, that's all.

Ash feels uncomfortable.

ASHI-I don't think so.

ASH (CONT'D)Scott! Scott! Come on backupstairs!

LINDAYou have to go get him, Ash.

ASHI would but he took the onlyflashligh we brought.

Cheryl pulls a lighter out of her back pocket.

CHERYLHere.

Ash looks curious.

ASHCheryl, why do you have a lighter?

CHERYLUm... Utility reasons?

ASHThat's good enough.

Ash then heads down into the cellar to look for Scotty.

INT. THE CELLAR- NIGHT

There are no lights on in the cellar. Ash finishes walkingdown the stairs.

ASHScotty?

No response, Ash continues to look.

ASH (CONT'D)Scotty?

Ash ignites the lighter, he guards the flame with his hand.

ASH (CONT'D)C'mon Scotty, this isn't funny anymore.

Ash turns his body, while doing so the flame is gone.

ASH (CONT'D)Shit!

Ash tries and tries to re-light the lighter, however Scottyprounces on Ash.

SCOTTYBoo!

ASHJesus Scotty, you scared the deathout of me!

Scotty laughs.

SCOTTYC'mon I gotta show you somethin'

Scotty leads Ash to the backroom.

ASHWhat's behind this door, Scotty?

SCOTTYI don't know yet, but it has to besomething cool! Now help me openthis door.

They try opening the door. It doesn't budge. They try again,they pull really hard on the door knob. The door opens.

ASHLet's get this over with.

INT. BACKROOM- NIGHT

They enter the room, it's incredibly messy.

SCOTTYJesus, this place is worse than myroom!

ASHFunny.

Scotty notices something on the desk.

SCOTTYHey what's this?

They walk over, on the table there's an ugly book and ashotgun. Scotty picks up the book.

SCOTTY (CONT'D)Hey Ash, check this out.

Ash turns his head.

SCOTTY (CONT'D)Kinda looks like you're oldgirlfriend, huh?

Ash laughs. Ash examines the book, Scotty picks up theshotgun and points it at Ash.

SCOTTY (CONT'D)I bet this thing still shoots.

Ash looks up to see the shotgun, he finds it in front ofhim.

ASHJesus!

They also notice a tape player.

SCOTTYC'mon Ash, let's bring this stuffupstairs.

ASHAlright!

Scotty grins.

SCOTTYI'll get the gun, you geteverything else.

Ash moans.

SCOTTY (CONT'D)See ya' upstairs!

Scotty picks up the shotgun and leaves.

ASH(Sigh)

He picks up the tape player and the book and heads backupstairs.

INT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

Ash and the gang are sitting around the fire-lit fire placelistening to Scotty play guitar. Ash is tampering with thetape recorder.

LINDAWhat's that ya' got there, Ash?

Ash lifts his head from his work with the machine.

ASHIt's one of the old taperecorders, Scotty and I found itin the cellar. Along with this.

Ash lifts up the book.

ASH (CONT'D)And a shotgun.

Scotty stops playing guitar.

SCOTTYWell, let's see what's on it!

Linda plugs in the machine into the wall outlet by the fireplace. A man's voice is on the player.

MANHello, this is PROF. Spacic,Astronomy, log 2.

CHERYLGreat, another buffon from theuniversity.

SCOTTYShut up! That's my step father!

DR. SPACICI have made a grave mistake.

DR. SPACIC (CONT'D)A week ago my daughter, ShellySpacic was accidentally taken hostby a candarien demon, from theancient book, NECRONOMICON EXMORTIS, briefly translated thebook of the dead. The book is

DR. SPACIC (CONT'D)Anyway, on with the resurrectionpassages from the book.

Linda huddles up next to Ash.

DR. SPACIC (CONT'D)Konda... Strata

CHERYLTurn it off.

DR. SPACICAmarada konda

CHERYLTurn. It. Off.

She presses the stop button.

SCOTTYWhatcha do that for?

CHERYLI didn't like it.

SCOTTYC'mon it's all just a big flux.

Scotty presses the play button.

DR. SPACICKalama Konda

CHERYLTurn it off.

DR. SPACICKanpa Konda

CHERYLTurn it orf!

EXT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

Fog coming from out of the ground.

INT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

DR. SPACICAngarru Monsura Konda.

Cheryl stands up immediatly covering her ears.

CHERYLTURN IT OFF! TURN IT OFF! TURN ITOFF!

The recorder comes to a screeching sound.

EVERYONE (BUT CHERYL)AH!

They cover their ears. Ash leaps toward the tape player andturns it off. The room goes silent in an instant. Suddenly,the door bursts open, Cheryl falls onto the ground.

ASHCheryl!

He picks her up.

CHERYLHuh? Wha? Ash? Why are youcarrying me?

Ash looks shocked.

ASHYou-you just passed out! Don't youremember?

Cheryl's cheecks go red.

LINDAI'll go take her to bed, Ash.

Linda walks Cheryl back to her room. Ash walks up to Scotty.

ASHYou just don't know when enough isenough, do ya' Scotty?

Scotty is flabergasted.

SCOTTYJesus, Ash it was only a sillyjoke. Besides you were listeningtoo! You couldv'e stopped it.

Scotty leaves the room. Ash closes the door, Linda comesback.

LINDAI just realized this is the firsttime we've been alone since we'vecame here.

ASHYeah.

The two sit down on the couch and begin talking.

ASH (CONT'D)This trip just keeps gettingweirder and weirder, right Lind?

LINDAYeah, Ash, that tape recorderactually scared me a little

(Rubs throat)I'm gonna get a glass of water.

She stands up and leaves to the kitchen. Ash dashes over tocheck on Linda's progress, still getting water. Ash dashesback over on the couch and pulls out a box containing aneagle necklace, he then acts as though he is asleep, thelecklace lay in his hand. Linda comes back into the room.

LINDA (CONT'D)Hmm.

She then notices that Ash is holding the box, she reachesfor it at Ash's hand. Ash opens his eyes, but shuts themagain because Linda looks at his face. This process happenstwo more times. Finally she just stares at Ash, he opens hiseyes, Linda points at him.

LINDA (CONT'D)Ah.

Ash looks at the box in her hand.

ASHHey!

He takes the box out of her hand.

LINDAOh.

ASHStealin' from the blind eh?

Ash smiles and gives her the box.

ASH (CONT'D)Here ya' go.

Linda opens the box, she sees the necklace.

LINDAOh, Ash, I love it! I'll nevertake it off!

ASHWell I'm glad you like it.

ASH (CONT'D)I have an idea, let's have somewine baby, 'Cuz I'm a man andyou're a woman, atleast last timeI checked, heh.

Ash heads into the kitchen and grabs the bottle of wine andpours it into two glasses.

ASH (CONT'D)Bum bum ba bum badum badada bum.

Ash stops pouring the wine and walks back into the mainroom, Ash hands the glass to Linda.

ASH (CONT'D)Here ya' go!

Linda drinks some of the wine.

LINDAI'm gonna go check on, Cheryl.I'll be right back.

Linda walks down to Cheryl's room. Linda comes back almostin an instant.

LINDA (CONT'D)Cheryl's gone!

ASHShe's probably just goin' on alittle walk through the woods toclear her mind. She does thatsometimes.

A repeated banging comes to the door.

ASH (CONT'D)Should I, open the door?

EXT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

Cheryl is wearing her nightgown which is really tattered.She is beating on the door.

CHERYLHelp!

She reaches for the keys that are above the door. She getsthe keys and is looking for the right one. While doing soshe drops the keys.

CHERYL (CONT'D)Shit!

She reaches for the keys on the ground. When she almostgrabs the keys Ash's hand grabs her wrist. They rush inside.

INT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

Ash and the gang are standing around the coffee table.

ASHAre you alright? What happened toyou?

CHERYLI-I was attacked! By the woods!

ASHYou mean 'within the woods'?

CHERYLNo Ashly! It was the treesthemselves!

Scotty steps up.

SCOTTYC'mon Cheryl, that doesn't makeany sense!

Linda softly grabs Cheryl's arm.

LINDAC'mon Cheryl, I'll tuck you in, Ithink all you need is just somegood night's rest.

Cheryl moves her arms rapidly.

CHERYLNo! I don't want to go to bed! Iwant to go home!

ASHCher--

CHERYLI just want to go home.

ASHCheryl, the car's broken down,remember?

Cheryl turns her head.

CHERYLThen walk me into town, Ashly.Because I am not staying here.

Ash sighs.

ASHCheryl, will you just listen toyourself for a second?

Cheryl becomes angry.

CHERYLI don't care if I sound crazy!Will you take me into town ornot!?!

Ash rubs his face.

ASHSure, sure. Whatever ya' want.

Ash looks at Linda and Scotty.

ASH (CONT'D)I'll be back guys. Try to hold thefort down while I'm gone.

Scotty goes up to Ash and whispers:

SCOTTYYou spoil her rotten, ya' knowthat?

ASHI know but she my family.

Cheryl and Ash leave the cabin.

EXT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

Ash and Cheryl are walking. They finally reach the forest.Ash stops.

CHERYLWhat's wrong, Ashly?

ASHThe trail we came here on, it-it'sgone! Like it all of a suddenlydecided to disappear.

Cheryl is concerned.

CHERYLIt doesn't want us to leave.

ASHWhat doesn't want us to leave?

Cheryl looks at Ash.

CHERYLThe thing in the woods.

(Camera comes zooming around trees at super fast speeds,really shaky)

ASHLet's just wait up at the cabinuntil tomorrow morning.

CHERYLI don't have much of a choice doI? Let's head back.

They begin walking. They are almost half was back to thecabin. (shaky camera effect follows them) Cheryl looks back.

CHERYL (CONT'D)Ah! Ashly!

Ash turns his head. He and Cheryl begin running.

ASHJesus! What is that thing!

They reach the cabin.

INT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

They slam the door shut and lock it. Linda and Scotty comerunning.

LINDAWhat the hell is going on outhere!

Ash is blocking the door with his body.

ASHThere is something out there!

Scotty does a half grin.

ASH (CONT'D)What's so funny?

SCOTTYI get it! This is some kind ofjoke isn't it?

CHERYLThis is no joke, Scotty!

A strong bang hits the door. It pushes Ash down.

ASHAh!

Ash slams the door shut again.

ASH (CONT'D)We need to get inside.

INT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

LINDAWhat is out there, Ash?

ASHI don't know but when we playedthat message from the tape playerwe unleashed some terrible horror.

The room went silent.

ASH (CONT'D)The most important thing right nowis to keep calm, alright?

Linda and Scotty are playing 'Guess The Card' by the fireplace, Linda is holding a King of diamonds.

SCOTTYThree of hearts.

LINDAGood job!

She sets down the card.

ASHTruly Amazing.

Linda is now holding three cards: Ace of spades, Queen ofhearts, and Five of diamonds.

CHERYLAce of spades, Queen of hearts,Five of diamonds.

LINDAWow! Cheryl, that was incredible!

Ceryl just sits in her little chair. Linda stands up andstarts walking to her.

LINDA (CONT'D)Cheryl?

No response.

LINDA (CONT'D)Cheryl, answer me dammit!

Cheryl stands up quickly, she is zombiefied.

LINDA (CONT'D)Oh my god!

Cheryl grabs her by the neck and throws her, she lands bythe couch.

ASHLinda!

Ash goes to check on Linda.

ASH (CONT'D)Are you alright Linda?

LINDAI'm fine. But my back hurts alittle bit.

Scotty walks up to Cheryl and smacks her.

SCOTTYYou don't do that to people.

Cheryl falls to the ground.

ASHAw, shit.

Linda gets up and walks over to Cheryl.

LINDAAsh, something's wrong withCheryl.

Ash walks over.

ASHWhat's up?

LINDALook at her, something's notright.

Cheryl slowly moves her hand and grabs a pencil.

ASHYou're--

Cheryl swings her arm which the pencil is in and stabsLinda's ankle. Cheryl moves the pencil in her leg. Bloodsquirts out.

LINDAAHHH! You son of a bitch!

She kicks Cheryl in the face, the pencil pops out of herleg, she falls to the ground. Cheryl rises.

CHERYLI'll swallow your soul!

Ash picks up the shotgun.

ASHSwallow this!

He hits Cheryl in the face with the end of the shotgun.

CHERYLAH!

She passes out.

SCOTTYJesus.

(Shot: Ash and Scotty looking over everything that has justhappened.)

ASHwhat are we going to do?

SCOTTYWe have to put Cheryl down in thecellar.

Ash puts his hand on his chin.

ASHI'll deal with Cheryl, you helpLinda.

Scotty nod and runs off to find bandages.

ASH (CONT'D)Let's go.

Ash drags Cheryl by her hands. He then throws her down thestairs.

Ash rubs his face, and then goes to help Linda. Ash opensthe medicine cabinet, looking for somethin that will helpLinda.

SCOTTYI found some bandages.

ASHGreat! I'll find some painkillers.

Ash rumages through bottles of medicine, he finds the painkillers.

ASH (CONT'D)Aha!

He runs over to Linda.

ASH (CONT'D)Here, take two of these.

Scotty is wrapping up her ankle.

LINDAThank you, I need to tell yousomething.

ASHYes?

LINDAI--

Linda passes out. Ash stands up. Scotty leaves the room. Ashfollows.

SCOTTYAsh, it's time to say I'm outtahere.

ASHWell, I think it's safe to saythat Linda's in no shape to berunning. Needless to say walking.

SCOTTYI sais 'I' not 'We'.

ASHWhat about Linda?

SCOTTYShe's your girlfriend, you takecare of her.

Scotty leaves the cabin.

CHERYLAw... Looks like Ash is all alone.

ASHShut up, Cheryl! Just shut up!

Ash walks over and beats on the door.

ASH (CONT'D)Do you hear me?!?

Cheryl's regular voice come on.

CHERYLFine Ash, you don't have to be somean.

she begins crying.

ASHOh-oh Cheryl, I didn't mean it.

Cheryl's candarien demon voice came back.

CHERYLYou shouldn't be, HAHAHA!

Ash gets angry.

ASHYou bastards! You horriblebastards! Why are you doing thisto me?!?

Ash hears a creak in the floor, he turns around and seesLinda, her head dangles.

ASH (CONT'D)Not you too.

She raises her head, she's zombiefied.

LINDAHeeheehee.

ASHLinda honey, it's me, it's Ash.

Linda tilts her head.

LINDAWe're gonna get you, not anotherpeep, time to go to sleep, la lala.

Ash rushes out of the cabin. He walks toward the toolshed.

INT. THE TOOLSHED- NIGHT

Ash goes searching for a better weapon besides the shotgun.

ASHC'mon dammit!

He sees a red chainsaw he takes it and starts it. (Close-upon Ash's face)

ASH (CONT'D)Groovy.

INT. THE CABIN- NIGHT

Ash enters the cabin.

ASHAlright, Who's hungry.

Ash notices Scotty's on the couch, dead. Ash shivers. Hewalks into the kitchen. Linda, gone. Cellar door, open.

ASH (CONT'D)Oh, no.

He turns around, Linda's there, she pushes him down.

ASH (CONT'D)Umph.

LINDAWe're gonna get you, We're gonnaget you

Cheryl comes from under one of the cabinets.

LINDA (CONT'D)We're gonna get you.

Scotty comes from the main room, zombiefied.

LINDA (CONT'D)We're gonna get you.

They are standing in front of Ash.

ASHLet's dance.

Scotty comes running at Ash. Ash gets Scotty in the stomachwith the chainsaw. Ash then shoots Scotty. Ash runs throughthe passageway into the big room. The two follow him.

LINDAThere's no point, Ash. We can'tdie.

Ash aims his gun.

ASHBullshit.

He pulls the trigger. (Shot: The trigger being pulled) Lindadrops like a fly, but she gets back up. Ash drops theshotgun.

LINDASee?

she leaps at Ash. He raises the chainsaw, He swings and cutsher head off. Blood splaters all over him. Ash wipes theblood off his face.

ASHYuck.

Cheryl smiles.

CHERYLYou may have killed her but youcan't kill me, Ashly. Not only doyou not have the balls to do it,you don't have the intelligence.

ASHI already figured out how to killyou, sis. You seem to lead ourother dead friends, however thereis something all leaders fear.Losing their power.

ASH (CONT'D)This book gave you a certainpower.

He picks up the book, and pulls the lighter from out of hispocket.

ASH (CONT'D)Bye sis.

He ignites the lighter under the book causing it to set aflame on to the book.

CHERYLNo!

The book is on fire, Ash throughs the book into the fireplace. He puts the shotgun into his sisters mouth.

ASHHow about a nice fistful ofboomstick for ya'.

He pulls the trigger. Ash grabs the shotgun and leaves thecabin. His friends began decaying at an incredible rate.(Shaky Camera effect bursts through the back door, lobbydoor, and then front door, behind Ash)

EXT. THE CABIN- DAY

Ash turns around and is about to scream. END.
