No. This is an option for women because it is the only shirt styled for women that includes pockets. What picture ID will hanging from our shirt the UT ID w our personnel # Or a different card? The ERC Uniform Committee picked the 4 color combinations which we voted on. All of our employees are part of one integrated team- particularly as we reorganize and move to zone maintenance. Our uniforms need to reflect that look. It is also important that the campus can easily identify all members of our Facilities Services team. Regarding staying cool in the summer the ERC considered this among many factors when they chose color options for consideration and voting. The new Uniform Policy reflects Federal, State and OSHA safety requirements. These requirements should have been enforced consistently before now. Employee Safety is of utmost importance to us, we strongly support these standards and we want to make sure we do everything possible to protect our team. In addition different managers have enforced these guidelines differently. In fairness we should treat all employees equally and require similar standards from each. *You will be allowed to wear your jackets outside until one is provided as long as it does not display a non-UT team logo. Will there be another type of female shirt besides the one that was modeled? If not will there be a choice for those that want a shirt that tucks in? We can offer women a choice of shirts. One is a shirt tailored to be worn outside with front lower pockets. The other is tailored and must be tucked in. However the second version of shirt does not have any pockets. Will the pants be issued in both styles (reg and cargo) or do we have to choose a type? The total number of uniforms each employee receives will not change. What picture ID will hanging from our shirt the UT ID w our personnel # Or a different card? It will be a new picture ID card. It will not be the current Vol Card Do the male pants have 2 back pockets? Current pants only have 1 back pocket. This is dependent of the company that wins the bid. Also what is the material the shirts are made out of? Most uniforms will be made of a cotton polyester blend. For those employees working with electricity and where safety standards require arc flash clothing the uniforms will be cotton. Why did you pick these 4 color choices? The ERC Uniform Committee picked the 4 color combinations which we voted on. They looked at what colors would hold up to the dirt and work our employees do, are fire rated, are comfortable in different environments, climates and seasons; gave our department a different look; and are available from a number of uniform companies.

Why do all areas have to have the same color? Why can’t those working outside have a different color since they need uniforms that are cool in the summer? All of our employees are part of one integrated team- particularly as we reorganize and move to zone maintenance. Our uniforms need to reflect that look. It is also important that the campus can easily identify all members of our Facilities Services team. Regarding staying cool in the summer the ERC considered this among many factors when they chose color options for consideration and voting.

I have worked in this department for years and never been required to wear safety shoes and other things this policy requires. I know how to stay safe. Why do I have to meet this policy now? The new Uniform Policy reflects Federal, State and OSHA safety requirements. These requirements should have been enforced consistently before now. Employee Safety is of utmost importance to us, we strongly support these standards and we want to make sure we do everything possible to protect our team. In addition different managers have enforced these guidelines differently. In fairness we should treat all employees equally and require similar standards from each.
