We constantly evaluate and develop our learning and teaching activities using the international CDIO approach. The CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) approach provides us with tools and guidelines to answer the requirements of working life. Applying innovation pedagogy together with CDIO means studying that is strongly working life-oriented. For example, today’s work environment values an entrepreneurial attitude. Our students learn this entrepreneurial attitude and skills in various learning environments such as: Practice Enterprises, Support Centres, student-owned co-operatives and working life projects.

For students, project work provides working life competencies and valuable contacts. For companies, the projects offer possibilities to make use of the applied research conducted by Turku University of Applied Sciences.

Internationalisation Internationalisation is an essential part of our studies. If a student wishes to complete an exchange period abroad, there are several partner universities all over the world to choose from. Many foreign students come to Finland for a shorter exchange period, but also to complete a whole degree. Exchange students typically study in our international semesters. Faculty of Business, ICT and Chemical Engineering offers a variety of courses in English in all the degree programmes. We provide incoming exchange students with high quality services to support them during the exchange period.

RESEARCH, DEVELOP, INNOVATEOur R&D activities are multidisciplinary and international. Projects are carried out together with companies, organisations and other universities and research institutes. The project activities create added value for our students by offering motivating learning environments. Co-operation with companies also helps to keep our laboratories modern and the know-how of both parties up-to-date.

Research, development and innovation (RDI) activities are an important part of our collaboration with businesses and communities. Our RDI projects enable students to familiarise themselves with
