The Faculty of Computer Science and Manage-ment was established as the first Polish scien-tific and teaching unit combining technical and economic sciences. It started activities in 1968 as the Faculty of Engineering and Economics, and since 1972 it has been operating under the name Faculty of Computer Science and Manage-ment.

Currently, it consists of 6 Departments:

• ITSystemsDepartment(K1)• ComputationalIntelligenceDepartment (K2)• ComputerScienceDepartment (K3)• OperationalResearch,FinanceandITAppli-cationsDepartment(K4)

• ManagementInfrastructureDepartment(K5)• ManagementSystemsDepartment(K6)

The Faculty has the right to award the degree of ha-bilitated doctor in technical sciences, in the discipline of computer science, as well as postdoctoral (habili-tation) rights in economic sciences, in the discipline of management.

The Faculty offers PhD studies and postgraduate studies, including MBA studies: new prestigious Wrocław Ponts MBA organized in a partner pro-gram with a reputable French business school ENPC Business School from Paris (recruitment in progress) and MBA studies offered within the Polish-American BusinessSchool.

The Faculty was the first in Poland to launch the major Systems Engineering. The reason was not only popularity of this profile of education at west-ern universities but, first of all, the fulfillment of the employers’ needs. This major is based on a modern curriculum determined mainly by the student alone.

companies from the IT sector as well as service and financial centers located in the capital city of Lower Silesia. It enables cooperation with the larg-est global investors but also with the SME sector.

A distinguishing feature of the pragmatism of edu-cation in the major computer science is crowning of the curriculum with the course „Team Engi-neering Project”. This is an unusual combination of classes and contest. These IT „games” lasting throughout the whole semester are attended by students of the major Computer Science. Students whose works prepared during the classes will be distinguished with more than a traditional entry in the credit book will obtain prizes founded by com-

For many years, the Faculty has been cooperating with companies and institutions that, as potential employers, are interested in graduates. The com-panies that focus on modern technologies and re-search, as well as continuous development in co-operation with science lead the way in this group.

Corporations, large and average-sized companies and institutions more and more often perceive scientific and teaching institutions as business partners. The Faculty of Computer Science and Management is open to this type of cooperation, which is reflected in a growing number of conclud-ed agreements and contracts in this respect. The Faculty operates in the environment of numerous
