December 2016
The Farm Gazette
Mayor’s Notes:
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Joyous Kwan-za and, of course, Happy New Year to all!!!
In this time of joy and giving, I would like to take a moment to thank our loyal and dedicated volunteers and officials here in Brownsboro Farm. Thank you to Tessa Ramsey, Doug White and Aidan Salmon for leading our elf crew and decorating the front of the city. Thank you to Tim Quinn, Jon Ratliff, Kim Franklin & Barbara Rice for your leadership and being part of a dedicated City Commission. Thank you to Kelly Vandergriff and the Parks Board for your diligent work and another spectacular pool season. Thank you to Greg Burton, our Social Chair, and our army of talented volunteers for providing our little city with social events that are truly the fabric of our neighborhood. And, thank you to Cindy Clippinger for editing the best small city newspaper anywhere and for compiling this wonderful edition full of holiday cheer and memorable pictures.
I hope to see each of you at our Evening with Santa on Friday, December 16th at 7pm. Bring your favorite holiday cookies to share, a donation of canned food for Dare to Care and enjoy some delicious hot chocolate.
Please also look forward to our Dinner Club Kick Off in January. Dinner Club is a great way to meet some of your neighbors and enjoy some fabulous food & bever-age!
Once again, I wish you all a very Happy Holiday Season from my family to yours!
Regards,
Marc

Many of us, after 40+
years, have remained
friends, even though some
have moved to other areas
of the city. Most of us be-
came friends at the tennis
court ( a nightly occur-
rence) and some through
a Book Club and
Bridge. We each consider
the others as ‘best
friends.’ And that is be-
cause of the warm, friend-
ly, open feeling Brownsbo-
ro Farm has provided for
us.

We’ve lived here since August, 3 1973, and LOVE this neighborhood! I have quite a few old
photos of the Fourth of July Tennis Tournaments on the court from late ‘70s and early ‘80s
(these were wildly popular back then and lots of neighbors participated! (Many of us got to-
gether over the years to “patch” the cracks in the court in order to keep playing). Pictures
from Memorial Weekend/Grand Opening Parade to the Pool from June 1995 (Our grand-
daughter and grandson won the ‘best decorated wagon or bike, etc.’ in the 3 to 5 year old cat-
egory! They are now 25 and 21! The park/woods early photos around 1989 with beautiful
scenes of the creek, wood bridges, etc. Pictures of neighborhood parties (New Years 1990
and costume party 1981.
A wonderful place to raise our children: Bob Gunter (12 then), Lisa Gunter Lewis (10 then),
and Laura Gunter Keeling (8 then). They still remain friends with kids who grew up in “The
Farm,” such as Angie Spencer, Fran Troje, Kevin and Bobby McGarry, McDearmans, the
Ward boys, and more! —Linda Gunter
Thank you, Catherine Murray and Linda Gunter for sharing your stories and
photographs of life in Brownsboro Farm through the years!!
