The Fermentation of Fruit By Emily & Tess Fermentation can be found in nature (fruits) and is used to make alcohol. Starches and sugars are converted to alcohol and carbon dioxide from the enzymes in yeast. This process is called alcoholic fermentation. Fruits will start with sugar (glucose) and when given energy (sun) will ripen and convert to ethyl alcohol and carbon dioxide. Process & Use Fermentation can be used to make alcohol like wine, beer or distilled alcohol (vodka) Fermentation can be used to make alcohol like wine, beer or distilled alcohol (vodka) Large vats like these are used in the fermentation process to brew beer.
