THE LIP F 11.09
Leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping…
it’s finally starting to feel like fall in Memphis. And
you know what that means—it’s time to start
thinking about Christmas. That’s right, Christmas.
It’s closer than you think—only 56 days away!
Before you panic over presents for your kids, may
we make a suggestion? Consider giving your
teen the gift of travel this holiday. They get out of
the house for a few days after Christmas; you get
the house to yourself. It’s a gift to both of you!
On December 30, SWITCH will be heading to
Atlanta, GA, to celebrate the New Year in style.
We’ll be staying in the fabulous Embassy Suites
hotel, exploring the best downtown Atlanta has to
offer, and engaging in worship every night. After
we ring in the New Year, we’ll catch some sleep
and then head home on January 1.
To sign up, visit SWITCHmemphis.com or call
333-3368. The cost is $100.

Figuring Out Facebook
Although Facebook has been around for several years, most adults are just now starting to check out the
social networking site. For new users, Facebook can be somewhat overwhelming. It can also lead to
some pretty embarrassing situations if not used correctly. Nick O’Neill (All Facebook: The Unofficial Face-
book Resource) has released a list of the top 10 privacy settings that he believes every Facebook user
should know about. Although all the steps below may not be necessary, many of them are very helpful.
If you’re wary of people seeing all your info, check out this list to find out how to protect it.
1. Use Your Friend Lists to Keep Track of How You Know People
2. Remove Yourself From Facebook Search Results
3. Remove Yourself From Google Search Results
4. Adjust Your Photo Tag Settings So That Only Certain People Can See Photos of You
5. Protect Your Photo Albums
6. Prevent Stories From Showing Up In Your Friends’ News Feeds
7. Protect Against Published Application Stories
8. Make Your Contact Information Private
9. Remember That Wall Posts and Status Updates Can Be Seen By EVERYONE Unless You Adjust Settings
10. Keep Your Friendships Private
For more info about how to do these things, visit http://www.allfacebook.com/2009/02/facebook-
privacy/. O’Neill provides a detailed guide about how to do each step and explains why it’s beneficial.
